The cap was confirmed two seasons ago by the Phoenix GM, it was then confirmed that it was increasing by 25% last season on the EIHL website. This season there was rumours that there was no cap, however this has been contradicted by several coaches & GMs.
Unfortunately they have not said what the new cap is this season. The fact that hardly any of the teams follow the cap leads me to think that maybe we should just increase the cap a load and let teams spend as much as they like. Considering the players that the club & league reputations will allow you to sign, you probably won't be able to spend that much anyway.

Well i have just emailed THE ELITE LEAGUE for confirmation, Calv are you trying to say its £9200+25% per week cap now it is £11500 this year?Calv wrote:The cap was confirmed two seasons ago by the Phoenix GM, it was then confirmed that it was increasing by 25% last season on the EIHL website. If it was £9200 per week last year and its plus 25% = £11500?

Calv is trying to say that nothing has been said about the salary cap this season. Just that the salary cap increased 25% for the 2009/2010 from the 2008/2009 season.OliverBeckham wrote:Well i have just emailed THE ELITE LEAGUE for confirmation, Calv are you trying to say its £9200+25% per week cap now it is £11500 this year?Calv wrote:The cap was confirmed two seasons ago by the Phoenix GM, it was then confirmed that it was increasing by 25% last season on the EIHL website. Good luck with that. The league's been going at least 6 years now and they've only just released the rule book!OliverBeckham wrote: Well i have just emailed THE ELITE LEAGUE for confirmation, Calv are you trying to say its £9200+25% per week cap now it is £11500 this year?

I have absolutely no idea what the cap is and I don't think anyone at TBL knows as there seems to be no official cap that we've heard of. But if you get a answer from the Elite League I think you will get the official number.OliverBeckham wrote:So joe what would you say the cap is at right now and what would the TBL think the cap is at?
On Lidas 2.3 update it is at £9200 per week salary cap, was that a made up value or a official one?

Wait so if it is £9200 per week and you said that they announced it will be upped by 25% then this season should be £11500 per week Calv?Calv wrote:The cap was confirmed two seasons ago by the Phoenix GM, it was then confirmed that it was increasing by 25% last season on the EIHL website. 2008/2009 season: Cap was ~£7,400 a week - confirmed by Manchester Phoenix GM.
2009/2010 season: Cap increased by 25% to ~£9,200 a week - confirmed on EIHL website.
2010/2011 current season: No cap has been confirmed by the EIHL or any clubs.
I know that Hull originally budgeted for £225,000 for the whole season for salaries, before their ownership changed. So you can work backwards from this since the season is only 30 or so weeks long.
If you want to be realistic then the majority of the clubs are breaking the 'cap' anyway and will go unpunished. So you may as well put an unrealistically high cap on anyway. The club & league reputations mean you will not be able to sign any AHL/NHL players anyway so there will be no harm.

According to an interview by Giants GM, the Giants are spending £300,000 on salaries this season. They should be one of the higher spending teams in the league, although that probably doesn't include any university deals they have (about 5 iirc), where player also study at the university for free for 1 or 2 years.

I haven't seen in the editor what the club reputations are but I would probably look at what teams have managed to bring in bigger named players than you would expect and perhaps look at raising their reputation to attract better players but they would still be restricted by their budget and the leagues reputation. Belfast have always been quite good at getting a slightly better player than most others Nottingham and Coventry I think also have strong university partnerships. I agree though that raising the league cap may help show a more realistic gap between top and bottom EIHL teams.

hmm looking at Lidas 2.1 there does appear to be differences in rep between teams in the EIHL whereas there wasn't in original DB. So perhaps its not too bad overall. Generally home grown players stay with their team so perhaps we need to ensure that say if a player has been with a team for couple of years that club is listed in his liked teams and teams of a similar standard are disliked e.g. Nottingham, Sheffield and Belfast don't really get home grown players from each other but bring in their own or from smaller UK teams.
Maybe the league reputations could be tweaked. EIHL is at 7 and EPL at 5 maybe drop EPL down a bit and EIHL could rise slightly more in line with say Denmark, France, Italy, Norway. Yes perhaps these leagues are a bit better than UK league overall but a similar reputation will allow bigger teams to sign similar sort of players where as smaller teams with small reputations and budgets will get cheaper players.
I could maybe look at this a bit more and could certainly try and help particularly with the 3 Scottish teams - Braehead Clan (brand new team), Dundee Stars (new to elite from Scottish league) and Edinburgh Capitals.
As for the cap £300,000 sounds okay its $470,580 by current exchange rate.

Please do, I have added them in the db, but most info is blank atm.grazza wrote: I could maybe look at this a bit more and could certainly try and help particularly with the 3 Scottish teams - Braehead Clan (brand new team), Dundee Stars (new to elite from Scottish league) and Edinburgh Capitals.
That is the yearly rate, right? The db wants the EIHL cap as weekly. Shall I divide it with 52 or the number of actual weeks in the season?grazza wrote: As for the cap £300,000 sounds okay its $470,580 by current exchange rate.

All the team info you can get is good. Rivalries and such. If you have the time then you could look at players and staff. Perhaps with the EPL, as well?grazza wrote:Aye the figure I suggested was yearly. Will be able to help with getting more info on teams e.g. market size etc Anything else you can think of that I could look at to help?
The question still withstands, though. How many weeks are an EIHL season? If I divide it by 52 then the sum is only half of the sum in the db

EIHL INFO - general info on EIHL Sides and also player stats etc
Rivalries - thought I would put them here to allow some debate. I have put rivalries 1 to 3 based on most intense. Some rivalries are more geographical and others are perhaps based on history between teams particuarly those at similar ends of the table. I have braeheads 3rd rivals being nottingham purely as they share the same owner likewise with Hull and Coventry.

To be honest the attendances were actually up this year, even in the lower leagues, in the Newcastle Vipers programme there was a article about how all attendances have increased this year for all teams including Manchester from the lower leagues who have attracted players like, Andre Payette and Ed Courtney.
I think its important that this league rep is upped and the budget is upped as many teams lately have had much interest from Stronger Bigger rep players, remember Elite League even has some NHL stars (Brad Smyth) Belfast... and used to have alot in the past.
In the past updates there has always been very good accuracy in the NHL league of Lidas updates but never in UK Ice Hockey as in Elite League and EPL etc, it would be great for once, for someone to accuratly make this league playable as TBL has many UK hockey fans who use there forums.
