Hi, I saw the other day that bruins72(?) is working on a database where you can start 11/12 instead of 06/07 wich is the situation right now. So I thought, how can I do the game even better? Me and Systemfel have been doing a database based on Lidas 2.0 for two years now were we specify on NHL and the attributes and potential there instead of just doing rosters in all leagues like Manimal.
So we´re finished with that right now, but now I've started with player history that can be used when Bruins72 add-on is finished so it would look like this:
Sidney Crosby
06/07 - 79GP 36G 84A 120P
07/08 - 53 GP 24G 48A 72P
08/09 - 77GP 33G 70A 103P
09/10 - 81GP 51G 58A 109P
10/11 - 41GP 32G 34A 66P
Instead of just showing his rookie season and then a five season jump to his next season when you start the game. I have started with that work now and im done with 7 teams i think.
But I have another thing going, My self just like many others have been frustrated with the high scoring rating on the game, its not a problem to have Ovechkin clinch 70-80 goal in a season but its very hard to make Thomas hit .920SV% in a season for example. So I sat down and raised the CA for all the starting netminders in the game(also raised the backups) to a span between 160 and 185(Thomas) and started to simulate a couple of seasons. I got this information(Statistics) out of it:
IRL NHL Season 10/11
Goals Scored: 6870(5.6 per game)
Top Goalie: Thomas 2.00/.938
Top scorer: Daniel Sedin 104 points(Crosby had probably hit 115 if he had been healthy)
My first season i played with my new DB without raised netminders i got this statistics:
Goals Scored: 7358(6 per game)
Top Goalie: Fleury 2.29/.920(only netminder under 2.50GAA)
Top Scorer: Patrick Kane 125 points
My first season with raised goalies thought(i simulated two seaons without handling a team)
Season 1
Goals scored: 6593(5.3 per season)
Top Goalie: Henrik Lundqvist 2.24/.927
Top Scorer: Crosby 119 points
Season 2
Goals Scored: 6894(5.6 per game, just 24 goals from the real life number)
Top Goalie: Henrik Lundqvist 2.00/.934
Top Scorer: Datsyuk 105 points
Season 3
Goals scored: 7192(5.8 per game)
Top Goalie: Cam Ward 2.17/.928
Top Scorer: Pavel Datsyuk 113 points
I think this way is a lot more fun to play with and its no longer impossible to clinch the Vezina trophy when you coach a team. I have to proceed with my work on this DB but in a few weeks it will come out with more realistic goalscoring and with the correct playerstats for all players in NHL organisation.
I will post some screenshots in the thread also in time, so I can show you how it looks(the playerhistory doesnt work yet but will when Bruins72 releases his add-on.) And ofcourse, Malkin or Stamkos or whatsoever wont win Calder Trophy.

Heh I'm not going to let B72 take the credit!!
I'm guessing you're referring to the Start Date Patch I've been developing. There is more involved than just adding histories and resetting the birth years. Contract expiries will need to be updated/amended (I'll be trying to develop a tool for mass editing this shortly), the extra_config will need to be updated, and there are also club and national team competition records (although not essential). I think there is something else but I cannot remember off-hand. I'll be writing a brief database conversion guide to accompany the CSD Patch which perhaps might help.
Your project sounds really quite interesting. It would be neat to get some more conservative/realistic stats and scores. I do hope you'll share your findings and the sorts of CAs and attributes you use - I think it could help other roster projects too.

Did you improve every goalie in the game or just the NHL? I feel like making only the NHL goalies better might lower the scoring for a while, but in the long run the game would go back to normal. Obviously I have no data to back this up. The only thing I can think of would be to improve every goalie in the database. Or not?

Yes, you're right. Also the PAs for all players will need to be changed.AdamOates wrote:Did you improve every goalie in the game or just the NHL? For now im just testing the NHL to see if it really works and after five seasons I must say im satisfied with the results. Ofcourse I will raise every keeper in the game to keep up to speed with the NHL.

No kidding! I haven't done one lick of work on that project. I can't take any credit at all on that one.archibalduk wrote:Heh I'm not going to let B72 take the credit!!![]()
