Re: Official Pre Game Editor Thread. All questions here plea
Hi, i'm new here and i've just started fiddling with the editor.
Are there a list with parameters to use for my editing of new clubs and such?
Like; what can i put in the box that says; club reputations ?
I remember that EHM05 had such a list that had all these ranges of numbers to use for creating of everything.
Thanks.

Not that I'm aware ofRupie wrote:Are there a list with parameters to use for my editing of new clubs and such?
The NHL is the #1 League in EHM, and so NHL Club Reputations are the typical maximums (7500-9500)...you can edit the other Leagues to have a similar League/Team Reputation with limited effect (i.e. doesn't work well)Rupie wrote:Like; what can i put in the box that says; club reputations ?
If you use the "Club Competitions" tab in the PreGame Editor you can determine/edit League Reputation.
If you use the "Clubs" tab you can easily check/edit the individual Team Reputations by League
I've never seen such a thing myselfRupie wrote:I remember that EHM05 had such a list that had all these ranges of numbers to use for creating of everything.
Regards

P.S. If you're intending on doing any significant player editing I recommend the EHM Updater (http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 8&start=25)...the July 3rd posts has the link to the most recent version

Welcome to The Blue Line!
Are you referring to guidelines on what sort of Current Ability to give to a player? If so, you'll find it HERE. If you're looking at updating NHL-level players, you may also want to look at the info HERE (scroll down to the section entitled "Research Guide").Rupie wrote:I remember that EHM05 had such a list that had all these ranges of numbers to use for creating of everything..

Just a list that says what to write into which box when creating stuff. I don't wanna mess with the existing clubs and players. I play with Penguins, and i'll create the hockey club from my hometown in Norway. I "might" blow them out of proportions though.
Thanks for the tip, i'll look around somemore. Was just too much to try to read through.

I'm not sure I totally follow, but maybe this is what you're after: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... s:_Players
Failing that, if you look at players of a similar skill level as those you want to create, you'll get an idea of what goes where. And you can always ask any further specific questions here in our forums if you're not sure.

I have a question about the EHM update. I made a file for it in a directory set aside just for that. Got the updater running with no problems, after some due my stupidity. It started running and then ... nothing. There were no changes made in the file.No errors showe d up but the program just kept running. For 2 hours.
Any ideas what I did wrong?

Just to be clear...you're using the EHM Updater? Not the PreGame Editor?flint wrote:I have a question about the EHM update. I made a file for it in a directory set aside just for that. If you're using the Updater, you put the Updater in the database folder of the database you're looking to edit (I'd make a back-up copy of the database first!), and you use the Updater to export a csv file...the csv file is what you actually edit, and then you import the csv file back into the EHM database using the Updater...the exporting/importing using the Updater should take seconds (you select a number and hit Enter)

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you Nino33.
Yes, I was using the updater. I tried to export the csv I made but it never worked. I will try it again this week and see if anything different happens.

You can do so using the EHM Updater (see the Updater's version 4.0 ReadMe, page 22)Animal31 wrote:Is there a way to remove non player attributes from players?

I don't have access to my laptop right now, but IIRC there's a DB file named something like club_records.dat. Delete this file. Then create a blank new txt document and rename it to club_records.dat. Once you've done that, run the Index.dat Updater from your DB folder: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =88&t=8689Animal31 wrote:what about deleting club records and history?
Try that and let me know if that works okay. If not, I will send you an alternative file which should do the trick.

Re: Official Pre Game Editor Thread. All questions here plea
I am finding that with the pre-game editor, I can seemingly make changes to the DB, commit the change, then save the DB. All seems good. When I start a new game, the changes aren't there. This worked for me in Windows 7 last month. Got a new laptop and re-installed everything over again on the new system. I run everything in compatibility mode under the Admin rights, but still no changes when I start a new game. Any one have this same issue?

Re: Official Pre Game Editor Thread. All questions here plea
Usually this is caused by the "Run as Admin" issue, but you noted you "run everything in compatibility mode under the Admin rights" so that shouldn't be an issue.intcountzero wrote:I can seemingly make changes to the DB, commit the change, then save the DB. Have you tried making the edits with the database in your My Documents? And then once edited move it back into the SI file on the main drive for use...
I lost a lot of editing because of such weirdness, and so I'm so paranoid now I actually make all my edits with the database on my Desktop [and I keep my edited databases in my My Documents, and I regularly email myself (zipped) copies of the database]
This thread may help (Archi's August 20th post gives a filepath you may find your edited database "hiding" at) http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 117&t=9854

Funny, I do not see a database folder in My Documents under Sports Interactive. Should I see one? I see 'games, print, search, tactics, training'. That's it.

Re: Official Pre Game Editor Thread. All questions here plea
Nino means that you temporarily move your database folder from your C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\ folder to another folder outside of C:\Program Files\ to a folder such as your Desktop or My Documents.
It relates to Windows' protection of the C:\Program Files\ folder and whether or not you use Run as Admin (more about this is explained in the which Nino linked to).

How does one change the database location on load in EHM? I see a setting for User Data only in EHM Preferences

As far as I'm aware EHM07 only loads from one location (C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database), and there is no way to load a database from another locationintcountzero wrote:How does one change the database location on load in EHM? I don't understand...each folder in the database folder is a complete database.Animal31 wrote:Well, it also loads each folder in that folder, so thats a thing
I currently have 6 different databases in my database folder
When a new EHM game is started I choose which to use, but I don't get to "browse" the computer to find a database anywhere on the computer (EHM gives me choices on the start-up menu based on the databases in my database folder...any databases on the computer but not located in the database folder can't be selected for use)

You can't.intcountzero wrote:How does one change the database location on load in EHM? I see a setting for User Data only in EHM Preferences
We meant that you physically move the folder from EHM (the folder path mentioned in my previous post) to another folder. Then you load it in the Pre Game Editor, make your changes, save it, and then return the folder back into EHM.
