WOW! Don't even try to negotiate with them. Just accept! That's the kind of deal that doesn't come along too often.

Ok, so G.Latendresse was injured again and this time my trainers are really concerned about his knee. :-k Apparently, Capitals are looking for a key LW and a starting goaltender. My offer was G.Latendresse, A.Montoya (my backup) and P.Rissmiller (to sweeten a deal)...for Ovechkin.. (just trying, you know) and they agreed :-p No superstars,no high (and many) draft picks, just two players that seem to suit Caps.
Amazing!!! I was after him for more than 4 years ](*,)
They say, timing is everything! :-D

I got Ovechkin's rights (he wasn't resigned after his first contract, go figure :dunno: ) for Robyn Regehr (who was in his last year of his contract and demanded an absurd amount of money) and a couple of bad prospects.

This year he has 60 points in 25 games, including more than one PPG per game

Amazing

Well I just made a doozy of a trade. I'm the Bruins and in a dogfight for the last playoff spot. I traded Donovan, Ference, Lehtonen and Nathan Robinson for Martin St. Louis.

And in the 5 games St. Louis has played for me he has:
3G 1A
3G 0A
1G
1G 2A
0G 2A

Very good trade! =D> Martin was a fantastic player for me...keep him as long as you can! And you can easily resign him for 3 more years, NTC contract. :-D

I traded a 1st, 2nd and Nagy for St. Louis. He got 43pts in the 23 games left in that season and 109 in 82 last season. Whereas Nagy got 12 in 21 and then 68 in 82 last season so I'm happy with that!

I also traded Brian Sutherby and the rights to George Wudrick for Lecavalier who got 44pts in 22 games and then 128 in 78 last season

So why didn't you just start the game with the Lightning Calv? It would have been so much easier. Who did you trade for Richards and Boyle? :-D

Hmmmm... this sounds an awful lot like a conversation you had with Catchup. Just swap the Lightning with the Sharks. :-p

I now have Prospal too! :-D I'm the Phoenix Lightning. Both St. Louis and Lecav were both playing for the blues at the time I signed them though. I traded Witt and Plante to Lightning though for some draft picks but that's it!

I'm in 07-08 and someone had signed him already so I've got him until 2010 :D. I can't wait until I have him for the full season. I also have Sturm and Savard locked up for a while so my top line will be set (although I may move Bergeron up in a year or 2).

St. Louis got another hat-trick a 2 games later too.

Thanks but I think I'm gonna miss the playoffs again. I really suck at this game (and all NHL:EHM's I've played). I've made the playoffs like 3 times over the years I've played. My forwards are great, my defense is solid but I think I'm going to sign a stellar LD in the off-season (probably Redden).

19nazzy: It's maybe not a roster issue... Maybe tactics, or staff, or practice schedules, or lack of leadership, or lack of teamwork/workrate, or...well, you got it, there are tons of parameters to adjust! :D At least it seems that you have good skills in making big trades :D

I pulled off 2 blockbuster deals in my first season with Montreal today.

First we have Malkin, who is out for 7 months with a torn ACL or something. I offered Pittsburgh Francis Bouillion and a 2008 1st pick. Done deal, although the board and fans freaked out.

Then about 2 weeks before the trade deadline, I make Kovalev available just to see what I could get. Washington came calling with some garbage offer. I negotiated with them: Kovalev and a 2007 1st pick for Ovechkin. They accepted.

I sort of purposely missed the playoffs this year to get a decent 1st round pick, but instead I got Ovechkin. I can't wait till next season with Ovechkin and Malkin on a line. :toast:

Nice trades Joe! :D The Malkin's one isn't good at all on a short term view (why the fans were angry), but is very good on a longer-term. Well, by 'longer', i mean 'when season 2 starts' :D

Excellent deal with Ovechkin! =D> I never had him...not even tried to land him home :D But acquiring him for a lazy part-time star and the 1st round pick of an average draft is just excellent :D

Malkin and Ovechkin work very well together.
Now had Bobby Ryan at RW and you will have my first line.

It rocks hard

Thanks for the tip. I went out and got Ryan for a 5th and 6th rounder, rights to Josh Patrick, and Alexander Perezhogin. Not really sure if this is trade is worth of this thread but I guess we'll see.

Yeah, I'd say you got Ryan pretty cheaply. I've given up far more for him in the past!

Same here. And believe me, he deserves! :D I had him with the Blues. He was rookie in 07-08 (2nd season in the game) and had 88 points (34+54). In his second season, he had 42+52 for 94 points. He played both years only on the second line :D (While Shane Doan was delivering over 110 points on the top line)

I just finished up my first season... ever (I know, I'm a latecomer, but it's never too late to fall in love). Was playing as the Blackhawks, kind of a reclamation project if you will.

I started the season off 4-9-5, with Khabibulin being responsible for 2-8-2 of that. Lalime on the other hand was playing pretty sharply, so I decided I could make some room. I swung a deal with Philly to get Niittymaki, and then sat Khabibulin out. He got pretty mad pretty quickly. I started negotiating with Tampa Bay, while Khaby kept demanding to be put on the trading block. His morale decreasing daily, I refused, not wanting to lower his value.

The end result? Khabibulin, Smolinski (4th line centre), and a first rounder for Brad Richards. My fans were aghast. Dollar Bil Wirtz and his board were horrified. There were calls for my head. Richards starts off his career with points in 14 of the first 15 games, wins the scoring title by 20 points, gets Art Ross, Rocket Richard, and (of all things) Lady Byng. He thanks me for my contribution to his awards, and he now thinks I am an extremely competent GM.

In the pre-season I had to dump two of my 4 goaltenders. I don't remember how I eventually got rid of Caron, but Boucher I sent to Calgary for a 2007 2nd rounder. That draft pick turned out to be...

Kyle Turris.

Now if only someone would take Martin Havlat off my hands. fool broke his pelvis two weeks before the playoffs. Played 55 games, getting 73 points. I think I'm going to let him tear up the early season and see what I can fetch.

This wasn't one of my trades (actually there were two trades) but I thought they were worthy of mention. In my current game it's February 8th of 2007. There has been a whole lot of trade news going on. I just saw the Ducks and the Oilers make two back to back trades. The Ducks have been struggling because McDonald and Kunitz are both out with long term injuries. First, they sent Scott Niedermayer to the Oilers for Shawn Horcoff and Jason Smith. That gets them a really good center and a really good defenseman for a great defenseman while trimming over $1 from their payroll. Then the Ducks sent Pronger to Edmonton for Ryan Smyth and MA Bergeron. This move saved them another million plus in payroll while bringing in a top line winger and a decent offensive defenseman.

These two moved kind of surprised me. It surely changed the face of the Ducks in this game while bringing in the two biggest names in defense to the Oilers. The funny thing is, both teams are currently in a position where if the playoffs started today, they wouldn't be in it.

Traded Luc Bourdon(Who was looking quite good) and the rights to Luke Pither(#39 in 2007 draft) for Ovechkin. Fans and board were raging but then the fans celebrated :dunno: My first line is now Ovechkin-M******-Naslund :-)

And he just got 2 goals and 1 assist on his debut making it a bit sweeter

I can't say that I have ever made any big trades, but I have made a few little trades here and there.

I know that I traded my 2009 2nd round draft pick and a few Russian players that I can't think of right now for Niittymaki from the Flyers. In my opinion, that wasn't bad at all. Niittymaki is excellent at the game and he builds up very well if you can keep him around.

I did a deal as the Leafs that saw Sundin plus a ton of scrub prospects traded to the Pens for an injured Crosby. :-p
