I spotted that start date issue as well, Manimal. Good eye! It's one of those things that we get so used to doing one way with the NHL challenges that we didn't even think of it for this junior challenge.
As for the import draft, I'm thinking we should leave those picks as untradeable. It's something that could leave us open to abuse. I've played junior teams a couple times and I've seen some teams not even use their picks in the import draft. Many of the players drafted in the import draft never even make it over to Canadian juniors. I'm afraid people are just going to toss those picks in there to help pad a trade deal.

I've got 1 overager among my unsigned prospects but nobody that is too old to play in the league. When a player is designated as an Overager it doesn't mean they're too old to play in the league. They're just restricted. Teams are only allowed 3 overage players on their roster. They're also only allowed 2 foreign players on their roster but the guidelines on that seem to be a little shaky. I guess US born players don't count as foreign. I'm also not sure which other countries don't count against that. I played a game using the Create A Star players that Calv released. I had some of our British TBLers on my team and it didn't seem to count them as foreign. Maybe somebody can clarify how the game figures all of this out?

Another question that I'd like answered (even if it is ahead of time) We are allowed to sign two FA's after the season. I believe I read somewhere earlier that we weren't allowed to sign them from other regions, such as a released WHL-player. I do not see anything of this in the rules, did you leave that out or is it an in-game rule?

I have noted a quirk about the trading regulations. We are not allowed to start trading until Sep.30. That deadline is not needed since there is a no trade period between Aug.25 and Dec 19!
Also I have seen a team sign a 85-born player. If that is possible then why are there a regulation on the amount of 86's we're allowed to dress?

1. USA players are not imports.
2. I am not sure on the trading period rules for CHL...I really did not look into those at all. Sorry....but in real life they are making trades all the time, up to Xmas break so I assumed it would be the same in the game..which is why I said no trades to Sep 30. So to me the no trade to sep 30th is needed.
3. Heh--open tryouts having old guys come out. Funny...EHM bug I guess, never seen that before in the WHL when I played it.
4. Surprised you cannot deal Import picks...they do in real life. But good if you cannot...still leaving the rule in, just to be sure. I have not checked it out yet, and its been awhile since I played WHL.
5. I am surprised that they allow trading in real life over Xmas. Weird.
Anyway to sum:
1. No FA's first season
2. No trading to Sep 30th, even if the no trade period is longer in the game, and you cannot trade then...doubled up on that maybe, but just leave it as it is.
3. No trading import picks.
4. Must follow the standard entry draft trading rules...
Bla bla bla bla...I go on and on.
Remember, this is the first one, so bound to be some odd things we do not know about as we don't know everything...There I admitted it...everyone happy?
Best of luck. Bottom guiding line is play the game the way a real life GM would...I don't see any CHL teams making 2000 trades before the season starts, nor do I see them trading all their prospects for picks, nor do I see them trading all their picks for players....So just be careful...and smart.

It might seem like I'm trying to find loopholes in the game, but I really just want it to be like IRL. And I don't want any misunderstanding on the rules. It would be a real bummer to play a whole season just to find out I missed some minor regulation

Could it be that Nick set those Brits to have a Canadian second nationality? That would certainly be a good way to get British Create-A-Stars to play in North America.bruins72 wrote:I'm also not sure which other countries don't count against that. Yeah, we left that rule out. You may sign players from other regions as you so choose. Whilst this means it's not as realistic as real life, it makes things simpler for users unfamiliar with the Canadian leagues (or even Canadian geography!) and it also keeps our first Canadian Challenge relatively simple. Maybe it's something to think about for future Challenges - but not this one.Manimal wrote:Another question that I'd like answered (even if it is ahead of time) We are allowed to sign two FA's after the season. Maybe that was the case. One of these days I'll have to go back and check.archibalduk wrote:Could it be that Nick set those Brits to have a Canadian second nationality?
