Challenge 12 Rule Changes for NHL!

Okay, here is a basic rundown of the rule changes you'll see if the NHL is used in Challenge 12.

1. Only 1 draft pick can be traded (in or out) per season and it cannot be a 1st round pick.

2. No trading unsigned prospects ...period. That means you can't beef up a deal by adding in all of your unsigned prospects that you don't think will ever make the NHL. That also means you can't go and trade for all the best unsigned 19 year olds that every team has drafted and not under contract yet.

3. Stick to budget set out by the team. This means that going into season 2 (and beyond) everyone may have different budgets, so a screenshot will need to be posted showing it. batdad note: We decided no TBL budget, so just stick to your team budget cap in game! We will require screenshots of finances!


4. Must maintain a farm team of at least 2 goalies, 6 dmen, and 12 forwards. This only applies to your AHL affiliate. You're not required to add a GM and control your AHL affiliate (you can if you wish) but you must have enough players signed to fill out your farm team (ie don't trade away all of your prospects for stars).

5. No core rosters this time around. No NTNB.

6. You will be required to promote 2 "homegrown" players each season. See previous challenge rules for a definition of a homegrown player.

7. Standard challenge No Trade periods apply. See standard challenge rules.

8. Standard challenge UFA signing period applies. In season 1 you will be allowed to sign enough young UFAs to fill out your farm team. We will announce how many players at each position will be allowed once the Challenge team has been decided. Only waiver ineligible UFAs signed for the league minimum ($450k) will be allowed. In season 2 (and any subsequent seasons) 2 standard UFAs can be signed and 2 young UFAs for your AHL team (as detailed above) are allowed. Players must be 24 years of age and under. In other words, noone over 24 can be signed
