Welcome to Oilers...
Both Souray and Lubo got NTCs. At least it ain't as bad as the real Oilers who are also stuck with a for two seasons brutal Horcoff and an season-injured Khabi (who they will have to pay for against the cap even if he retires) also with NTCs.

Sweden won the U20 in my game. :-D

And JDD is injured, but just for 10 days, but in those 10 days I got 3 games, I guess it will be 3 losses. ](*,)

Playing well for me (25GP, 20G for 32P), though I expected him to be a first line potential as opposed to second, but we'll see if that changes. Biggest surprise for me on the prospect front is Toni Rajala. 25G for 49P through 26 games. Best part is that he's playing on the second line in Brandon and is producing without playing with Schenn and Glennie. (1st PP though)

Souray, Visnovsky and Horcoff on the all-star team. Souray won the hardest shooter competition with a bomb at 102.96 mph.

Heck, I would love to grab Drew MacIntyre on re-entry waivers, a cap-hit of 250 000 for two seasons wouldn't be too bad.

What he put a picture of a ball in as his avatar? What?

Oh and I am 6-3-1 so far in my first 10. Delsauriers has played 8 games and Roy 2. Roy is 0-2. Not the best start. May give him 1 more game. But going to try Dubnyk first.

His attributes have not gone up yet, but neither have JDD's. Bad goalie coach I guess.

Horcoff has 4-13-17 already. Next closest is Penner 5-5-10.Scoring the same as normal maybe a bit higher than norm. And defense is definitely worse..I usually give up less than 2 per game...I have given up 25 in 10 games.

That's putting it mildly. You should go check out Batdad's stats from previous challenges.

Phoenix just claimed Tim Thomas on waivers. I hope Bryzgalov is still around come July...

It really makes a difference when JDD gets injured... In 22 games w/o him Dubnyk and Pitton have 4 wins... :help:

So far this is way easier than Av challenge for me. Not sure why? Toughness?

OK, I've posted my first stats. Now for some comments.

Gentlemen, either I or this team, suck.

Or both.

Dubnyk has been my starter in 9 games now, and his stats are as follows: 13 GP, GAA 4.09, SV% 0.872. And one shutout (no kidding! I still can't believe it). I haven't, as yet, risked playing Pitton. If these are Dubnyk's stats, I can't imagine playing a goalie took out of the ECHL (where his stats are worse than Dubnyk's in the NHL).

My defense is mediocre. Souray is a stud, and him and Grebeshkov are the only defensemen doing what I really demand of them. Oh, and Nickerson (4 fights, 100% won, I like this guy). Staios is underachieving, and Gilbert and Višňovský I know are capable of contributing more. Having a log instead of a goalie doesn't help, I reckon, and I really haven't worked out the defensive tactics for this team. But I hope I will.

Batdad is a genius when it comes to defensive play. Mebbie someday in the distant future he'll decide to share his wisdom with the rest of the world, though I seriously doubt it. And mebbie it's better this way. Meanwhile, this is the Challenge. Let the best man win. And when it comes to me, hopefully I am going to learn something along the way.

Offense... well, I can't complain here. I sent Brulé, Cogliano, Gagner and Šmíd down, and I don't regret it. I have no problems with the top six (Comrie-Horcoff-Hemský, O'Sullivan-Penner-Nilsson), and Nilsson with 16 P in 20 GP is the only one under a point per game. The bottom six are more of a problem.

Nah, I had much easier time with the Avs. I understood that team's mechanics much better than this one's. But it's not that bad either. We'll see how it'll go in the following seasons, I hope I'll be able to fill the holes in the lineup. We need at least one goalie (and I mean GOALIE, not more dead weight), and we need 'im pronto.

I'm on a streak quickly closing the gap between me and the division leader. It looks like play-offs for me now 59 games in.

Círyatan: You have succeeded in two things I always fail big time on, in all of my too many Oilers saves, making Nilsson and O'Sullivan to play anywhere near their potential. These two guys is always on my trade block.

20 games in and I can't play defense. We flat out suck and Deslauriers is not stealing games, either. Offense works though. Hemsky is brittle and Cogliano! is my top goal scorer

I don't mind it :-D

I can't play defence either. One of the best offences in the league, but we find ourselves at 13th in the conference. Just losing to many games 5-4, 6-5.

First 20 games down. The Power Play has been good, which I fully expect to die off ASAP, as it always does somewhere for me. No major injuries yet. Hemsky missed 1 game (game 20) and will be back for the next one.

Horcoff is still a super stud in this game. He is absolutely dominant for me. Hemsky is in and out as is Penner.

I sent Brule down at the start of the season, brought him up and played a few with a 7 rating. His morale went down so back he went to farm. Up goes morale...back he comes. He played game 20 and scored!

So for a few of the young guys they are going back and forth based on morale. Included in players who have played some games for me and some for Springfield are:

Brule
Dubnyk
Nilsson
O'Marra
Jacques
Pouliot

I have not yet sent Roy back to Junior and he has played 4 games going 1-3 with 2.78 GAA and 893 save percent. He has a 7.75 rating though. Not sure what I am going to do, but considering he has taken 3 of my losses he is likely going back. Maybe one more game to see how he does.
