I have imported all of the NA players (approx 1,300 players - the other 500 already existed in the DB). I'm sure glad that's over and done with! It was getting pretty tedious!
I'm not all that confident that I have all of the ECHL rosters complete. I noticed when going through them that some teams had just a small number of players (e.g. August Lynx). I must have missed one or two rosters. If at some point in the future somebody goes through the ECHL rosters and lets me know which teams are lacking rosters (or only have a small number of players), I'll get a spreadsheet of those rosters for you.
All that remains is to get the jersey numbers imported (I will do this in a second) and adjusting the dates so that it's set for a 1998 start date.
All being well, I'll send the DB back to Nino this weekend. I'll also send both Nino and CJ the spreadsheets of rosters I imported.
Btw, I have not made any changes to any of the NA teams (e.g. changing which teams are active/inactive or moving teams to different leagues). Thus some of the players may be contracted to inactive teams. I did however create a new inactive team (Beast of New Haven) because I had players for that team's roster.

The team is in the db under the wrong name, New Haven Beast

I have adjusted the years in the DB so that they're set for a 1998 start date. However, it looks like the draft histories for some players have been set to the correct year and others for the adjusted years (I mean when they were entered into the DB, not any bug with the Updater). This seems to affect the players in the older drafts rather than the new drafts. For example, Andrei Zyuzin was drafted in 1994 IRL but in the DB he's set to 1988. Looking through the draft history in game, it doesn't look like too many players are affected (it's fairly easy to see because most of them appear as a duplicate Draft Pick # (e.g. there are two Pick #2s for 1988 - Trevor Linden (correct) and Andrei Zyuzin (wrong)).

Ah I didn't think of that! I'll remove the new team I created and move the player(s) to the New Haven Beast.

I've been adding staff/players using the staff_new file for so long my memory of the Updater's capabilities is a little vague...is player draft history viewable/editable using the Updater? Or is viewing draft history in-game and editing it using the PreGame Editor my best option?

Draft history isn't editable via the Updater yet I'm afraid. I'll double-check if the data can be extracted via the Updater; if not then I'll get it added to the next version (which I'll be releasing very soon).

This project sounds awesome! All retro rosters for EHM are appreciated (especially the 74-75 set!). I'm a former long-term OOTPer and have completely lost interest in both OOTP and was never interested in FHM. Projects like these keep my passion for sports sims alive. I really appreciate all of the work you guys put in
My goal is once this is released to replace either the CHL or UHL with the WPHL, since I grew up in Texas and went to a bunch of those games growing up. The late nineties was when hockey experienced a huge boom of popularity in the south. There's nothing like a nice dose of bush-league / Slapshot-esque hockey!

Well it's already released. The 0.9 version. I'd call it a "beta" version.

Or did you mean you're waiting for the 1.0 release?

I'm waiting for 1.0; I've learned not to invest a lot of time into a project if an update is relatively close.

Well it's been on hold for now. As I'm working on the TBL Rodters now. There won't be huge changes in this DB involving the NHL for the 1.0. Just some corrections here and there..

No worries, I figured as much. Anytime there's concurrent modern and retro roster updates in the works, it means things are good on the EHM front

Plus, I really want to start with a 98-99 start date. I'll probably also make the Wild and Blue Jackets the Nordiques and Jets.

Thanks so much Arch!
I returned to work on the 1998 DB last weekend...we'll see what the coming weeks/months bring!
CJ - I sent you a copy of the DB. As I said in my email, I'll consider the DB I have as the "active" DB, and if you want it let me know and I'll send it to you

Once again, I remind you guys that I would love to set up the teams for the db!
I love moving around the teams and seeing what fits the best. I've already gotten started on paper (best to do it on paper before making the changes to the db)

And we'd love the help! As discussed on Skype, I've just sent you the "active" DB so you can set up the teams...thanks much!

That's awesome if we can get more help!
I won't participate in any EHM DB this month. I'm trying to get into university, so I've got many books to read.
But I trust you Nino to do whatever needs to be done, you're in charge now.
I will still be online, every now and then.

Good luck CJ. One thing I learned in uni. You get a ton of books to read and you will only ever read one or two. Do not waste money buying them all. LOL. go to library and read page 1. then decide if you think you will read the rest of it.

So, when I am running tests on the TBL db, I thought I'd share my ideas on team placement here.
First off, I vote for the Winnipeg Jets to have one of the three spots of future teams(Jackets and Wild, the others).
In 1998-99 there were 27 NHL teams so it seems just fair that each one gets an AHL-affiliate in the game. Then I'll let the three future teams share theirs with someone. Teams did share affiliates back then, so it works, IMO. Giving the 98 teams an affiliate on their own means splitting some shared affiliates and their minor leaguers should be moved to the fitting affiliate IMO. Some AHL teams in game might have skewed rosters at start up (for example, too many goalies) but that will sort itself out eventually.
The AHL will have the original teams from 98 plus some IHL teams with affiliations.
The 98-ECHL had two more teams than the game so they'll get moved to the CHL, as will three IHL teams to fill the spots. The 98-UHL had one team too many so that one will also go to the CHL.
I think the remaining un-affiliated IHL teams will be placed in the un-playable IHL(with a reputation on par with the AHL).
I'll also make sure every NHL team has a secondary affiliate.

Thanks! It's an "entrance examination". I have to read these books to even have a chance to get there.

I've been studying my whole life so I know when to buy a book (pretty rarely)

You'd replace Atlanta with Winnipeg?

Yes, that's a good idea.

IMO Winnipeg have more of a history/tradition than Atlanta. Although Atlanta joined in 1999, the Jets have been in the NHL for something like 25 seasons (compared with Atlanta's 11 or 12 IIRC).

Sounds good. I'd go with the old Winnipeg logo instead of their new one.
When there's a stable version of this DB. It would be easy to even switch teams to Quebec & Hartford if we wanted to.

At some point (when I have time), I'm gonna re-rate most of the NHL players (again). I'll use the same method I used for the TBL Rosters. I won't take that long as most of them are pretty ok rated, I think.
