Most of Bournival's attributes are set at random so they turn up differently each time you start a game. No big deal but it would save us researchers some time if users checked this first before posting.
I absolutely don't know how you guys work or what you've done so I don't know. It's the first time I install one of your DB so I didn't know it was common that we should check the DB at the same time.
It isn't common. I just wish it was.
No problem
philou21 wrote:I don't know how to put it in english sorry. :-D Ok I found it's the "getting open" attribute. Wow the french traduction is goddamn awful it's like totally another meaning.
That is an offensive attribute. It is about how a player finds a scoring opportunity

Okay, I'll make sure I'll do this often then if I start to use your DB. ;)

Yeah I know what it means in english though. The problem is that the french traduction is really clunky. In french it's "Sans la rondelle" which really mean "without the puck" if I translate it word by word. So it was kinda confusing at first.

"Getting Open" or "Off the Puck" is the same attribute. It's comparable to the D-Zones positioning. But this is when your team has the puck. Positioning is when the other team has the puck.

just wanted to comment on the above... Don't know where you have heard that Parenteau is fast ??
he was never known for his good skating.. in fact that was the big knock on him that made him slip all the way to 9th round in the NHL draft and caused him to spend many years in the minors..

The Scouting on Parenteau : Not an especially great straightline skater

The guys is not very big so people just assume he must be fast...but that's not the case...

Not even sure if anyone even looked at Toronto Maple Leafs.. When I first looked at the roster I figured all players in the league had their attributes lowered to fix the scoring or something so I stuck out the training camp but once I got to looking at the waiver wire and seeing Brett Lebda has better stats than every Toronto D-man except Phaneuf I knew something was very wrong.

Bernier is very average, but after looking at other goalies around the league I can see that he's right around other young canadian goaltenders so it's fine. But Reimer's attributes are worse than AHL goaltenders and it just doesn't make sense.. Reimer and Bernier should be about even.

The D is atrocious. Phaneuf is fine for a star player, definately should not be as good as orginal DB Phaneuf but still a top d-man. But how can Gunnarsson be so low. Liles is still the second best D on the team when he's been AHL fodder and lost his roster spot to the likes of Gardiner and Rielly. Gardiners attributes are horrible, one of the smoothest skaters on the Leafs has 10s in skating, a guy who had a strong playoffs against Boston has AHL techincal stats.. Cody Franson the other half of that pairing is so weak defensively and his amazing slapshot is rated 12. Mark Fraser aint a superstar but he's an NHLer for one reason and one reason only and the 9 checking 12 hitting isn't reflecting that. The sides the defense play on are wrong on a few. Phaneuf and Franson are the only natural RD, Liles, Gardiner and Ranger all play RD as a secondary not primary, the rest are LD.

The forwards are OK, the only problems I see are JVR and Kulemin not being strong defensive players when they are huge parts of the PK. Kulemin especially has grown into a heavy defensive forward rather than offensive one. The AHL players, most of the prospects are OK, the veterans make me sad to see. Ashton and D'amigo rated as non-players essentially, two guys that have NHL futures has sub-10 ratings accross the board and aren't even rated high enough to be AHL players. Trevor Smith and Spencer Abott who are top AHL guys and have been seeing sporadic NHL duty and even slight success in a top-6 role on the Leafs have no offensive capabilities to speak of. Ryan Lasch a nobody is better rated than some NHLers.

I know this is not an easy task and I'm absolutely grateful for the work you guys do. If you guys are shortstaffed on volunteers to do NHL ratings send me an e-mail at deusexmachinae@hotmail.com. I can do player attributes top to bottom for TML, CBJ and I'll do the research for any other team I were to be tasked with.

I think everything you need to help out at this point is explained in this thread http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 10&t=11844
In it you'll find an explanation of the 3 different ways of helping, as well as links to two important threads that help explain things

From the Challenge #30 - TBL - Discussion Thread...
Leeman14 wrote:I'm about a month away from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft and was looking over some of the ranked prospects.

There's a kid from Alberta playing in Rimouski named Conner Lukan who is the QMJHL League Leader and has taken home a bunch of Q-league trophies. I just checked his profile. He's 5-foot 10-inches and 366 pounds. He's ranked #70 by Central Scouting.

That is one obese kid who definitely is the exception to the rule.
Dustin Byfuglien is the heaviest player in the NHL at "120" (120 kg = 265 pounds)
Conner Lukan starts in the database as a 16 year old with "0" for height and "165" for weight (364 pounds!)
There are 565 players in the database who weigh as much/more than Byfuglien!
451 players weigh more than 300 pounds!

18 year old Brayden Atkinson weighs the most at 214 kilograms (472 pounds!)

That was an error I forgot to change. They got added to the db with their imperial size, not the metric
It has been changed for the next release

Bernhard Starkbaum is one of the best goalies in Elitserien IRL, in the game Holmqvist is 1st keeper for Brynäs and Starkbaum is aweful. He's also in the roster for Austria Olympic-team.

Also, a few things about Ducks.

Penner is not good enough, his shooting should be improved. Bonino is pretty much useless and he's had a really good season so far IRL and is a decent NHL-player.

Hampus Lindholm should be improved, John Gibson isn't even on my list of the top-10 prospects in the club, he should be a -9 in PA IMO.

Viktor Fasth needs to be improved and so does most of Ducks defensemen.

Getzlaf is a great passer but he's not the best in the world, 18-19 is better for him. Teemu Selanne is a bit overrated, he doesn't play that much anymore and pretty much all of his goals and assists comes from PP.

The team needs a full checkup IMO. Many flaws.

Thanks. So we have a reference point could you please compare these players to the lists of guys for the entire league. Where so they fit in in terms of ability compared to all. Is penner shot as good as Kunitz or Crosby? Ovechkin? How does Hampusfit in with all the other d in the league?

While editing some players I noticed that Semin as 19 in passes! This should be lower I think or I'm not aware that Semin is a good playmaker. :-D

I noticed his 17 Work Rate and 15 Determination...isn't Semin known for a lack of effort/determination?

Here is the CSS Midterm rankings http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=699869 Maybe make the top ten having PA of -8 or -14 and the top three possibly -9.

I suggest lowering the outfield players CA instead of the consistency to 3-10. two-three seasons into the game, players with high (170+ CA) become beasts with 20 overall in like 70% of the attributes. Limit the offensive role to like 15 to prevent many players to have outrageous offensive attributes, it is not unusual to see all the top offensive players have 20 in both shooting attributes and stickhandling. IMO the 20 attribute should only apply to the top three or five players in that regard. Like Kane and Datsyuk for stickhandling.

Ive tested it out on my own to limit the outfield players CA to 170 and limiting offensive role to 15 then pushing the Goalies CA to about 190+ for the elite and 170 for the starters (including highering the GK attributes). I do not have any material to prove this but the scoring went down a few notches. Top scorer in the league landed about 120-135 points.

The CA of the players will be somewhat the same, but their attributes will be lowered. So that there won't be those beast players with half of their stats at 20.

Thanks for the new update.
But some things make me laugh. Here is a Sample
TBL Rosters v6.1
Christian Ehrhoff ( Buffalo Sabres )
Current Ability: 125
Potential Ability: 125
Home Reputation: 125
Current Reputation: 120
World Reputation: 105

For me a absolutly Joke. He is a very good NHL Player and plays not in the AHL. Stu Bickel ( Hartford Wolf Pack ) have Potential Ability: 130 !!!

TBL Rosters v5.3d
Christian Ehrhoff ( Buffalo Sabres )
Current Ability: 160
Potential Ability: 170
Home Reputation: 165
Current Reputation: 160
World Reputation: 145

Good that the Editor works in the new Update.

Maybe you need to have a look around and then make some posts that will help us do this. Compare and contrast our friend with players of his calibre. Where would he fit on the list with other dmen. And remember that Erhoff is good but he is not Bobby Orr. I agree that the 125 is low, but something could be happening there in your game (random bad luck?) or just a mistake which the guys are working on. To get things right, compare to other d around the league. Be helpful with it instead of just complaining....maybe you are not complaining, but lets be more helpful than just saying Bickell is way worse than him and that you laugh about it.

Here's a graph of the contracted NHL players new CA I've made. (I rerated all D-men and GKs... and Ehrhoff is over 150, so no panic). Forwards still needs to be done. Forwards are in the graph but they aren't that accurate yet.
