They have now 12.5 million to go for they following players: :-D
Williams, Justin
Winnik, Daniel
Burakovsky, Andre
Kuznetsov, Evgeny
Alzner, Karl
Shattenkirk, Kevin
Grubauer, Philipp

Kuznetsov will probably take half of that cap space. I wonder what they're thinking. :-k :-D

EDIT:
Florida placed Jokinen on waiver.

EDIT2:
BUF Ennis and Foligno traded to MIN for Scandella and Pominville.
I think buffalo got better players overall but they got rid of Pominville's expensive contract. I guess it's a win/win.

Alzner and Shattenkirk are most likely out of Washington. Kuznetsov will take at least 5.5 millions or more so yeah..they are in trouble! I wonder if someone would dare make an offer to Kuznetsov since the Caps would probably have trouble matching it....or think twice about it.

Defensemen are getting overpaid right now!

Alzner 5 years worth 4.5 average per year in MTL. Not over 4 millions IMO for him.

Kulikov 3 years 4.3 millions. :-?

Daley 3.2 millions for 3 years

Justin Williams goes back to Carolina.

Sharp going back to Chicago at only 800 000K. That could end up being the best deal of the day! :D

Bernier signed with the Avalanche. I don't know what to think about this one....he's over Pickard though so I guess it's an improvement. If Varly keeps getting injured at least Bernier can take the #1 role.

6.5 millions for Fowler at Anaheim for 8 years.

Avalanche got Wilson from Nashville for a 4th round pick. I like that trade.

Hanzal signed with the Stars with an average of 4.75 millions per years. I hope it pays off for Dallas. I think it's a bit to much for him.

So Vlasic wants to go to the Olympics badly, and feels they're very important http://www.cbc.ca/playersvoice/entry/ma ... e-olympics

But he doesn't want it bad enough to not sign an NHL contract for a single year so he can go...seems they're not that important after all, as it took him mere hours to sign up to play in the NHL again http://www.tsn.ca/sharks-sign-vlasic-jo ... s-1.794296 ; I don't get how anyone can support "the players over the owners" as by their actions the players again and again show themselves to be just as money oriented as the owners

A player outspoken about wanting to be in the Olympics, and the importance of the Olympics, with the perfect opportunity to make it happen...and doesn't
I highly doubt any player (including Ovechkin) will fulfill any of the promises (lies IMO) they've made about attending the Olympics

San Jose 7 millions per year offer probably chamged his mind. As good as Vlasic is he's not worth 7 millions. He barely goes over 30 pts per season.

Shattenkirk goes to NY. 4 years with an average of 6.6 per years. I think this deal is better than I expected it to be. Only 4 years is good and I was expecting him to get over 7 millions.

I was wrong; I thought he was a Free Agent but he just signed a contract "extension" that starts in 2018 but he's still under his old/current contract for 2017-18 so he couldn't have signed a one year deal to play in the Olympics

Looks like Vegas traded Emelin to Nashville. Now they really don't have anything. :D

Vlasic not worth 7 but Shattenkirk is? :-k No,no,no. :-D Vlasic is a lot better, I'd pay many millions more to him than Kirk.

Alzner is a superb defensive D-man.

I think you're undervaluing defensive players here.

But he's a defenseman so his points totals shouldn't be an indicator to how good a player he is. I believe he's one of the best defensive D-men in the league at the moment and while that is a lot of money for him, I get why they offered him that.

Alzner's problem is foot speed/skating, and in a league where things are increasingly moving towards speed and skating, his minor warts aren't quite as minor.

Who there guys! :D I don't underevaluate Alzner and I don't think Shattenkirk worth more than Vlasic.

I know Alzner is a good stay at home defenseman but I thought 4 millions was more reasonable there. One thing I know about him is that he's slow and with Weber aging, MTL doesn't have offensive dman now. That's not going to be exciting to watch MTL again this year.

As for Shattenkirk I don't want him to make more/think is worth more than Vlasic. I only said I was expecting him to make over 7 millions because the market is completely nuts. I am fully aware of how good and stable Vlasic is but still, 7 millions is really high. Even if the pts don't count.

Et voilà! Price signed an 8 years contract extension with MTL worth 10.5 millions per year. What do you guys think about that? I personally think that if you want to build a strong all-around team, paying around 10 millions is way too much. I already predict that the Habs will struggle again and again in the futur years.

That's a very high price and long term for a goalie but if there's a goalie out there who even remotely deserves that, it's him. I suppose that's the price the Canadiens had to pay to keep him in Montreal.

Marleau goes to Toronto! 3 years worth 18 something millions. Nice addition for the Leafs. The add a good veteran to their young team. The price is a bit high though but 3 years is perfect. When the young guys will start to earn higher his contract will be over.

8 years with an average of 7.8 millions for Kuznetsov with the Capitals. Wow! What a bad deal this seems to be. He only had one good season so far. According to what CJ said 2 days ago the Caps now have 4.5 millions left. That's ridiculous.

Toronto is now 2.5 mil over the cap when they signed Marleau with that ridiculous contract. :-D I can only laugh at this deal...
Top 3 salaries in TOR: Marleau 6.25, Horton 5.3, Lupul 5.25. Gotta get rid of some salaries this year. And more next year as Nylander needs it. After that... Mathews and Marner (= the big bucks).

Washington has now 4.6 mil cap space. I think that goes to Burakovsky and Grubauer. But the problem is that they only have 10 forwards, when Burakovsky signs..

Kuz is worth a lot. But this is hockey today. But the length of it is where the risk lies.

Kuz only made 50ish pts this season compared to his 77 of last season. They should have give him a bridge contract of like 2 years before going with the big bucks.

I didn't knew Toronto was still paying Horton. Did Lupul took his retirement too? Been a while I heard that name. As for Horton maybe they could deal his contract to another team.

Washington just did some space by sending Johansson to NJ. It only cost a second and third round pick. Nice addition by the Devils.

I thought about it, isn't Horton and Lupul on the long term IR? Thus not making them appearing on the Leafs's cap?

They stay on until after the first day of the season, at which point they actually then go onto LTIR.

DET is in the same boat with Franzen.
