"Very ingenious contribution." From you I would have expected more. :thdn: Primarily it is up to our structures. This is clear to us and known. Unfortunately, we have little means to change these structures (money, money money). In Germany, the association would have almost financially ruined. A first step has been made with the restructuring of the youth area. But the biggest problem is that we have too few qualified staff. It will certainly take 7-10 years before with us hockey might be better. So far as I know, in Austria there is a stupid league system and annoying foreigners regulation. Only a few players from Austria come to reasonable ice times. In Germany you are doing is also difficult to reduce the limit foreigners. The snob in the boardroom fear for the reputation of the DEL. In the end it's all about the money.
Well, what stops Germany from working better? Don't tell me that Germany has less money than Russia, Czech Republic, Latvia, whatever nation not called US/Canada better than Germany at hockey!

I knew it would come. It's Not as in Russia, where Mr. Putin pumped millions in the sport (Sometimes I would wish it to me for many sports /athletes here , but that does not allow our jurisprudence). Each association must finance itself. The grants that exist here are a joke. Have as already written. At the beginning of this year, our German ice hockey Association would almost went bankrupt. It could only be averted, because the DEL and DEL2 again under the Association are and do not cook their own soup. I'm talking not only of Germany. But generally small ice hockey nations.

And personally I am fully satisfied with our performance at this World Cup. We are not relegated. We were missing a lot of players. Better once 10: 0 against Canada lose, than losing all the games. We played well against Sweden and the Czech Republic. Against Sweden earned point not taken. Defeat against Switzerland was the worst.

djskek wrote:You come from Brazil? I've never explain with Brazil ice Hockey. Is there a league in Brazil?

I have looked. FPHG =D>
That's the federation for one of our states. The one for the country is CBDG (http://www.cbdg.org.br/) which governs all "ice" sports.

Ice hockey here is very very limited due to lack of rinks. Inline is more common (but still very very unknown to the general population). "Team Brazil" ice hockey will compete in Mexico in the upcoming Pan American Ice Hockey Tournament, however players are composed of inline players who will also take the ice.

There are basically no leagues here, just tournaments that take place on extended holiday weekends. People who play for the national team will have transportation and food taken care of when with the national team, other than that all players are amateurs. Nobody get's paid playing hockey here as teams have no income.

If you see people playing here you'll know they really love the game due to how expensive it is to import equipment, how difficult it is to find a location to play as most club managers are scared to have their floors messed up, any and all hockey related story in the media is due to violence (mcsorley, bertuzzi, etc...) so people not in the known are not very accepting.

Well, I am not going to reply to your trolling, I'm just gonna make you a question: why is Germany strong in football and sucks in hockey?

A larger tradition. Every child grows up with a football. :-D Football is much much much more broadcast on television (much more money for the Association). In every third village there is a football pitch. To build a football field a lot cheaper than building an ice hall. I can probably name a dozen other reasons, but you would not understand anyway.

Because football is the no.1 sport in germany.......ice hockey is (i'm guessing here) no.15.
the same in my country austria. Alpine Skiing is No.1 followed by Football (Soccer) and No. 22 is Icehockey. Hockey is a marginalized sport here. 0 percent interest in the media. no infrastructure (30 ice-rinks in the whole country), i bet the citys of toronto or moscow has that number alone. a very small player pool, no good trainers for the youngsters and no money for the hockey-sport.

but you are right when you say, that no one prevents a country to spend more money in hockey sports. but it will never happen. :dunno:

That might be true. BUT everyone in Finland has played football at some point, but we still suck at it. Not many are playing hockey, but we're still good.
I'm pretty sure more kids has played football than hockey here.

That's right. The Scandinavian countries (particularly Finland) are a model / example for many Germans. Especially education. I do not know where your secret is? You are just all-rounder.

Arrgggh, Today our captain Michael Wolf has retired his National Team career after 152 caps. This is really bad for us. Thanks for everything! :notworthy:

Good lord Djskek. Sure the NHL has lots of good players and money etc. But um...where did those guys in the NHL develop? Not in the moneyed NHL program. In their minor hockey programs which are organized and run.

You saying hockey in Canada is not like Football, soccer or whatever in Germany is rubbish. Period. EXACTLY THE SAME THING> YOu have more players and a better development program, so you have a team that can pound Canada. We have that in hockey.

Seriously--are you on drugs and trolling this place? if you are it is time to stop. If you are not, welll...I feel bad for you.

Germany if it chose to...could put money and develop a proper hockey program. CLearly you do not want to as a nation. So that means you will not have a top level team, and there is no way in hell Canada should send over weaker players to keep the score better. Good lord.

AGAIN...THE SMALLER COUNTRIES WANTED A CHANCE TO COMPETE AGAINST THE BIG BOYS. Because COMPETING AGAINST THE BIG BOYS is what makes you better, along with the program you develop from learning from this competition.

If you now do not want that and want to whine about losing then quit the game and get out of the top level of world championships and give someone...I dunno Jamaica? A chance...because they may want to be there.

IF YOU ARE TROLLING PLEASE STOP. BECAUSE YOU ARE NOW STARTING TO LOOK LIKE...WELL I WILL NOT SAY IT.

That is your opinion. I accept. But please do not write to me, what I have to do. You not need the sentence write large. [-X If you want to scream, go to the zoo.

Why would you go to the zoo to scream? That actually makes no sense at all, just like the rest of your posts actually...

sorry that was not intended to come across as me yelling or screaming. Just highlighting ...should have used the bold. Not trying to scream at you...you are not a cloud. See my avatar...

Just really really lost as to how anyone could think the way you are thinking about one sport, when they as a country are so dominant in others for exactly the same reasons.

I have already written. The discussion does not make sense further. That is why we leave it. Probably I would have to live for many years in Canada and you in Germany or Austria.

O Canada :**

9:0 incredibly exciting

Why Canada gets no free ticket for the final?

jhcjobpb replies: Finland beat Canada in Semi-final. :-D

While it is impressive as Canada plays, but still does everything no sense.(The roster is too strong compared to the other teams) I have some hope for the stronger teams, but not really. Canada will notch up one's performance and make short work.

Djskek-DROP IT. You have stated your opinion. It is sad. Now drop it.

Canada has been very good so far....it does not mean they will win the tournament. At least for the first time in three years they got past the quarter final. LOL.

oh ha 2: 0 for Russia

After the performances in the group, it is really difficult for Sweden. Somehow the team play does not work in the Swedish team. :dunno: I would like to hear Manimals opinion.

Manimal do you already have your head under the covers?
