I was literally crying of joy after seeing the announcement and bought the game but haven't tried it yet. I'm too occupied with my hidden attributes game in EHM2007. Seeing that hidden attributes will be officially supported I'm extremely hyped! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

How times have changed! Back in the days of the previous EHM versions, it would be a screenshot of Fry with his money. These days its fancy Youtube videos! :-D

Great news! I was just cleaning my junk email folder and found an email about a notification from TBL. Curious as I am, I logged in and got news I never expected: EHM is back! :-D
As I was part of the original head researcher team a few years ago, this really brings back fond memories of a great game and a great community. From now on, I will be visiting TBL more often again. ;)

EHM baby!! good to see ya back!

This is awesome ! I checked to see if there was a roster update last week and there it was, but with the twist of being for a whole new version ! I downloaded Steam, bought the game, downloaded the roster, the logos and facepacks, running it all on a little Toshiba netbook with windows 7, no issues whatsoever ...

Few questions (hope I'm not being annoying.)

How customizable is this? What if I want to add more teams to a league? Can this be done with minimal effort / errors?

Can we edit rosters to our liking, and whatnot?

Will there be patches needed to start in different years, or has that feature already been added?

Thanks for any responses, I'm SUPER interested in getting this if it's exactly what I'm hoping it'll be.

Can we edit rosters to our liking, and whatnot? Yes (edit in EHM07, then import the DB into EHM:EA)

Will there be patches needed to start in different years, or has that feature already been added? Currently you can start from 1970 forward

NHL is included, but since the game has no license, you'll need the TBL Roster database to get real teams and players.

Olympic tournament?
Real Trophies/Awards?
Yes.

I would like to know if they have reworked the potential attributes. This was a flaw in the old game. There was no fair way to rank prospects, especially very young prospects, like those who are 19 and younger. -14 potential players were very likely to succeed as a NHL player, while -13 potential players could only become a scrub NHL player at best. If I remember correctly, -14 potential had a 2/3 chance of succeeding, which is around the average of a 1st rounder. But, -13 potential players who got lucky rolls were barely serviceable, so you couldn't really rank 2nd rounders and beyond fairly. A -14 potential makes them unrealistically likely to succeed, while -13 potential gimps their potentials too much to really make them relevent to the NHL.

If they have changed the potential system, I would like to know the details. I'm sure most of you are interested in this.

Ideally, I would like a system where each player have a potential value and a range. So, a player with 150 pot and 30 range could end up in the 120-180 range, where it's weighted towards the center. This is a very flexible yet simplistic system. The negative aspect is that they would have to add another attribute to each player, but it seems like they've already done that with the player style attribute.

Otherwise, the current system of -1 to -15 potential could be changed or extended. As far as I know, at the start of a new game, a algorithm looks at the -15 potential value and randomized it into something in the 110-190 range. It can't be that hard to add additional potential ranges, like -16, -17 and onwards, simply by editing that algorith.

Here are the potential ranges in EHM 07.
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... .php?t=631

Here are the main ranges that are used for young prospects.
-13: 60-130 PA 95 avg
-14: 90-160 PA 125 avg
-15: 110-190 PA 150 avg

Adding 16-20 to that, here are my suggestions of the ranges they would represent:
-16: 30-160 PA 95 avg: 4th rounders and beyond
-17: 40-170 PA 105 avg: 2nd-3rd rounders
-18: 50-180 PA 115 avg: late 1st-2nd rounders
-19: 70-180 PA 125 avg: 1st rounders (slightly more ranged alternative to -14)
-20: 80-190 PA 135 avg: high potential high risk 1st rounders

After it's been clarified how the game currently handles players with "random potentials", I would like to see a discussion so that we can come up with 1 or 2 good suggestions rather than bombarding them with 10 different suggestions.

You can find all downloads under the "Downloads" tab at the top of the page. Install faces into data/pictures/players in the EHM directory. If correctly named, and in PNG-form, the images should show up in game.

Austrian league is not currently playable, but new leagues are planned to be added later.

Awesome news!!!!
Just wondering where the best place is to offer suggestions to Riz to help improve the game? (This thread??)

Off the top of my head...

- add the NHL combine
- new World Cup Tournament (maybe its already in there)
- on boxscores, display the players Goal and Assist totals to that point in season (screenshot I saw still doesn't have this addressed since EHM 2007) ie. PIT Crosby (27) (Malkin(45), Letang(22)) , 2:38 PP
- SUBWAY Super Series + any other top prospect games
- Winter Classic + Stadium Series games

I am actually going to buy a new PC because of this great news :)

We have threads for that purpose in the General EHM Chat area. Other good place would be SI's own forums at community.sigames.com

Liking the game

I'm liking this game. I didn't play much of the 05/07 version but i did play the freeware game so i have been a fan for a long time. This game has potential to be amazing but there are some things that need to be fixed/changed.

Firstly the high level of scoring. I see so many games where teams are scoring 8,9 and even 10 goals. I know there currently isn't a way to lower scoring but i think this is one of the first things that need to be fixed. Scoring needs to be lowered by at least 25%. It's the only reason why i'm not fully immersed in this game.

There are other problems such as the AI/trading system and the fact that defencemen always lead in the shots category but i think there are a lot more minor then the scoring issue.

Some things i would like to see.

-Team record on the main screen. (Preferably next to team name)

-Easier accessibility of key information/More info on the main screen. I would assume that full screen is coming because you could fit so much more into on the main screen if it was a full screen.

-Playoff brackets. It's horrible what they currently have.

-Finally we need wildcard standing for sure.

Over all i'm happy with the game and i'm looking forward to seeing where this game is going in the future.

Already wrote this at the SI forums, but I feel like saying it again :)

Holy s...
This is such great news. I don't believe I have ever bought a game this fast before - I didn't even read the news release all through before I was running around the house looking for my credit-card. Now I am only sorry I didn't discover the news before my easter vacation was over.

Will be following developement closely now - this is so exciting. Bring on the Champions League and the Danish League :-)
