I took Jonas Brodin with my first pick and Erik Thorell with my second. Both guys seemed like pretty safe picks since Brodin was a free agent and wanted to play in junior while Thorell was already signed by the Islanders and there is a pretty good chance that they will send him to me.Crayn wrote:Who'd everyone get in the Import Draft?

You think that is something. I have a dman leading my team in assists...Sullivan. And I have two dmen with 5 goals. Only Stevens, O'Quinn and Kerbashian have more with 8.7,6 respectively. This is after 22 games as well. All my D have scored at least 2 goals. It is the shot on the PP from the point off the draw. They go in alot in my game.Manimal wrote:What is it with my team? The forwards are disappointing and the d-men are scoring like crazy! Ron Soucie, a defensive d-man who does not get any PP time has seven goals in 22 games. Only Arniel has scored more with eight

I had back-to-back games where Broussard scored in the final minutes of the game. In one, he scored TWICE.
My PK is God-awful. I'm in the 77-78% range. Meanwhile, my PP isn't too bad around 19%. I keep having issues with unhappy players, because they feel we are underachieving. They should look at themselves!! THEY are the ones who are underachieving!

I took Felix Liljegren (who was also drafted by the NYR). They didn't sign him so I did. He's done very well and is my second line RW behind Brett Ritchie. He has 23P in 30 G but is currently out for a week.Crayn wrote:Who'd everyone get in the Import Draft?
My second pick was Christian Elsborg also a RW. He's a Danish Canadian born in Toronto and was playing in the BCHL. He was only available in the import draft but doesn't have a 'FGN' tag, which is a little interesting and I think slightly broken. However I don't have any other foreign born players as Preisinger was among my reserve list cuts.
Elsborg is more of a 'roll player' type and he only has 2 goals in 25 games but has playing relativley well.

Mid-season ISS rankings came out. Rogalski dropped to 41st. Chiarlitti dropped to 129th.bruins72 wrote:The ISS just released their first set of rankings for the NHL draft. Rogalski was ranked 33rd. I'm hurting their draft rankings.

Funny how each game can differ so much. For me, Rogalski (2-2-4, +1 in 28 games) is unranked, while Chiarlitti (7-18-25, -3 in 40 games) is up a few spots in the mid-season rankings at 163rd. He leads all of my defensemen in points.bruins72 wrote:Mid-season ISS rankings came out. Rogalski dropped to 41st. We're starting to pull things together, as we've moved into a playoff spot through 40 games, but we still sit under .500 at 17-22-1-0. Our special teams are like Jekyll and Hyde; we have the second best PP in the OHL, while our PK is by far our weakest area at 77.4%, good for 19th in the league.
Our best players have certainly been our overagers, with Arniel and Neal my top two point-getters. Ritchie is having a solid rookie season with 35 pts. in 40 games. Francisco has been a bit disappointing, with only 7 points in 21 games (he was sidelined for about two months early on. Most of the rest of the forwards have been sub-par. O'Quinn has put in 6 points in the last three games taking over for an injured Arniel (out for a week or so only, no panicking), but he needs to improve on his -16 rating. I have more than a half-dozen players with a double-digit minus rating, and Hottot has been atrotious with a 5.72 AvR. My biggest issue is, I didn't sign enough depth on RW before the season began, so my options are limited.

Early in segment 4 we were closing in on the eigth and last playoff spot, but we lost 4 out of our 5 last games and we missed the playoff and ended up in 10th position again.
The team played better and better during the season, too bad that the team is too bad to really put up a challenge to the top teams in OHL. I'm going to try and find a new center to fill up the missing spot of Arniel when he leaves. And also the right wing need some improvement.

Just won a fifth straight cup in the Oilers challenge save, getting pretty bored with it now. Might get on board for this challenge after all for a change of pace. Here's a screenshot of the "final" team if anyone is interested.

Look in the bright side the '08 draft looks leaps and bounds better than the '07 draft (at least in my game it does). My team is also heading for a second straight 10th place finish. And yes it really seams no one could take Arniel's place on my team. Although Ritchie and Kerbashian are doing their best.joehelmer wrote:Early in segment 4 we were closing in on the eigth and last playoff spot, but we lost 4 out of our 5 last games and we missed the playoff and ended up in 10th position again.

Ritchie is actually projected to go in the first round of the NHL draft (was 13th after preliminary rankings and 17th after mid-season)

I finished season 2 and was surprised that we where able to make it to the Conference Finals, but was ran over by the Spitfires. They had everyone back in season 2, and Hall, Fowler, Ellis and Co just was way to much. I was happy that we could win a single game to be honest.
I liked the production by Quine and Gortz, should be top 6 forwards moving forward.
Traded Craig Hottot for Justin Sefton, who has underperformed for two seasons, but I am confident that he will be a top 4 defenceman for me moving forward.
Dave Andreychuk was signed by Erie to be their GM, and I did not have anyone who was qualified on the bench to take over, so my Assistant GM Jeff Twohey has taken over until I sign someone and have them on roster for 6 months.
The second draft is MUCH more impressive then the draft that we had previously, I have taken players in the late rounds that could have been top players in the past one, so it will make up for the lack of depth in the first draft.
The following players where drafted out of my system
Shayne Cambpell - 2nd Round (50th Overall) by the Buffalo Sabres
Alan Quine - 3rd Round (70th Overall) by the San Jose Sharks
Max Gortz - 3rd Round (85th Overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes
JC Campagna - 4th Round (110 Overall) by the Calgary Flames
Brett Ritchie - 5th Round (122 Overall) by the Los Angelas Kings
Looking forward to Season 3, goal being a Final berth!

Wow--You be flying along JohnnyLuc.
Good to see how high Campbell was drafted. I was just thinking about things, we should see as a side competition who gets the highest draft pick into the NHL during this challenge. That should garner some kind of award or challenge points. Campbell 50th could be tough to beat at least for seasons 1-3. Cool stuff. And to see Ritchie and CAmpagna drafted is interesting.
Where did you get Quine and Gortz..I do not have either.

He mentioned that he traded for Quine from Kingston after season 1 finished (so his Season 2 trade), and Gortz my guess is he got in the CHL import draft for '07.batdad wrote:Wow--You be flying along JohnnyLuc.
