4 games for Torres (on Eberle). None for Heatley (on Ott). Wow! Maybe the league is finally waking up. I tell you though, Canucks management and fans are something peeved about this. They feel the league is out to get them. Hah. I like Van...they are one hell of a team, but so many of their fans (Remember that dufus that used to post here--thecanuckstuff) are morons. Why Vancouver? Because after much media, ownership and fan pressure...Torres was the first one to get caught. Once they nailed Cooke for 10 games, they had to bring up other guys numbers as well. 4 is fair. Make a point NHL. It is about time!

Now...NHL....stick to making the point! Don't back off when someone like Ovenchickenwanker does something exactly like Torres and nail him for four. Of course, Ovy won't be a first timer...so make the exact same hit from him a suspension of 6-8 games. Get on it.

You mean Hensel or Icetimer? :-D :-D

The last player who worn a Nordiques shirt will take is retirement. Foote will announce it tomorrow after a nice 19 NHL career. =D>

Great guy and great career.
However, there are four former Nordiques playing in Europe this year. Can you name them?

I know Nolan is one of them but honestly I don't follow Europe at all so no. :-D

By searching on the net I found Chris Simon ( what a shame ) and Rucinsky.

Interesting to note, this will be the first year* since the NHL introduced the 'loser point' that a team will miss the playoffs because of it. If you went by the old W-L-T record, LA would site 9th today with both Chicago and Dallas making it. Other interesting notes, Vancouver would be the only team with 100+ points (109), and Boston would playing for the Eastern Conference title today as Philly would have 98 points, Washington 97 and Boston with 96 and tie breaker in wins over Philly.

*At least I'm very certain. I'm almost positive that I read an article that no one has yet to miss the playoffs because of it it would just change positioning. I may have to double check my history though.

They only don't go by the "loser point" (as you call it) in the shootout. OT still counts to the win.

I've heard alot of people wanting to get rid of the loser point and make it you get nothing for OTL and SOL...but then others said the shootout is a gimic and if you lose you have to get something and i agreed until i thought that OT is 4on4 ---that's a "gimic" too. lol

All in all though, i don't mind the loser point. I don't love it but i don't really care i guess. My leafs games the past couple weeks wouldn't of been nearly as exciting if it wasn't in.

Chicago is in big troubles. I'm not good in predictions but I'm pretty sure Dallas will give everything they have to win their game and it should be easy against the Wild. What a pathetic let down by the Hawks.

I think it sucks that the Hawks pass this way into the playoffs. I was really hoping to see them out, they're just lucky.

Why lucky? Dallas blew it, they should win, same as Hawks, when they get their chance to clinch. Although Hawks game during regular season is a much worse than a year ago, i think they are still playoff team. And finally, this outcome sets up nicely for "Revenge of the Nucks". Will be fun to watch.

Minnesota Wild have fired head coach Todd Richards. Third head coach fired since the end of the regular season.

Hmm...Corey Clouston 2 1/2 seasons one 'recovery', one mediocre season with a short playoff run, and one dismall season = fired.
Peter Deboer 3 seasons, One mediocre season failing to make the playoffs due to tie-breaking procedures, and two poor seasons = fired.
Todd Richards 2 season, both mediocr seasons, no playoffs = fired.

Ron Wilson 3 seasons, two poor, one heading that way until finding an rookie goalie to carry team but only too late = still employed, and talks of a contract extension?

DeBoer "mediocre" season was still a 93 pts one, I don't call this mediocre. Clouston got a nice 2nd half season but that's all. But both of them pay the price for a weak team. :dunno:

Crawford as been fired this afternoon. This is getting rdiculous now, it seems that for keeping his job you absolutely need to make the playoffs even if the team suck. Crawford got a good season IMO and the Stars finished 9th with 95 pts, not that bad. :dunno:

Brian Burke in his post-season press conference pretty much admitted that it's his fault not Ron WIlson's fault that the team fialed. He said something along that lines of that he felt that Wilson didn't have a competative team until this season.
