Gah 2-4 now. Bit of a mess up behind the net with Stevie Lyle, leaving the French with an open goal.

The Olympic dream is over.
Nevertheless, admirable performances against teams ranked 11th (Lativa) and 14th (France) in the world.

Yeah... but at least they tried. I seem to recall that for the last couple of OG, they didn't even take part in the qualifiers.
GB only needs 2 or 3 NHL players like France has produced in recent years and you guys have reached their level. I don't think the gap is that large.

Re: The Official British Hockey Thread 2012-2013
I agree, the main difference is surely about 3 or 4 players, playing in big euro leagues. I didn't saw the game (but I heard it was broadcast in the UK, lucky britishs! The only info about this game in France is on sports news channel, and without video, just a quick spoken resume...).
I'm mainly thinking about Bellemare, Bertrand, Meunier, and maybe Fleury and Hecquefeuille. And of course having some guys in the NHL is a plus (even if Da Costa don't play often with the Sens, and Roussel is beginning with the Stars).
Those guys playing outside France have a real positive influence on the team, and that makes a difference. But I read some stuffs about this game, and it seemed to be close one. I think the gap isn't big actually.
I'm really happy that Bellemare is doing good in Skellefteå, he's a strong 2 ways center. He seems to be an important player in their system, and his experience is very valuable for the French team

Not much to it at the moment.gazzw87 wrote:http://www.hockeywide.co.uk
Seems like a new site covering UK hockey. The more the better!

http://www.britishicehockey.co.uk/
http://www.iceman-epl.com/roundup.html (great EPL news site and stats)
http://prohockeynews.com/category/inter ... hockey-uk/ (this one is particularly good for NIHL coverage as the articles are written by a player from the Streatham Redskins)

What is it a completely blank site? What is to cover? I think I have been to Bantam games that are better.

http://slapshotscotland.com/ This site covers the 4 Elite league Scottish teams and Solway who play in the ENL north 1 and occasionally the Scottish national league.
Loving the new conference system in the elite league at one point in the overall table last weekend all Scottish clubs were on the same amount of points and only a couple of points from top to bottom in the northern conference which also contains Hull. The smaller teams have been more competitive against the bigger teams and not really a shock anymore to take points off mid table teams.

When it was first scored, couple of guys said it was a lot like the Malkin goal against Tampa a couple of years back, and on watching it, I can see why.MWE wrote:Great goal by Fox
Still, heres a little treat for you...
Sheffield Steelers vs Fife Flyers Match Photos
I did manage to wind Dave Simms up as well that night, which was a laugh.

Some good photos there. Simms is a good bloke a little too loyal for his own good sometimes though.
The Steelers jersey is awesome too

I quite liked it, but its a bit too mental for me..MWE wrote:Some good photos there. Simms is a good bloke a little too loyal for his own good sometimes though.

Simms knows his hockey, and is a very passionate fellow, but as you say, he is a bit too loyal for his own good. Then again, I'm sure a fair few of us are blinkered when it comes to our own teams..

They're pretty unstoppable this season. Are you watching the live stream? I had been planning to, but I didn't get back in time for the game's start.
