Here's an interesting situation to be in. My laptop was stolen out of my car this morning, which is what I run EHM off of (I never put it on my new computer because I could play off my laptop in the background and use my comp for other things). That means I never got to unlicense it, and because it was on my old email which was stored on my laptop, I don't have access to the email from when I ordered the gamed or the eLicense. I sent them an email, hopefully they can help me.

That sucks! Anyway, I've had to consult the e-licence guys before as I lost my disk & the serials to my game. They were pretty quick in replying and very helpful too. They responded to my initial email yesterday evening asking for what my email address was at the time of purchase...which I gave them...haven't gotten any response back from them since then. I installed the game on my Desktop, but can't seem to get the game running to even play the trial right now until i get the licenseScotty wrote:That sucks! Missing file!!
Really hope someone can help!! I bought this game years ago as a download. I still have the activation code, but after switching to Vista from XP, I cant open the game. I get an error message saying it cant find elicen40.dll file. There's a few sites that have links to the file, but they either end up not working or I have to pay to download.
Does anybody have a copy of that file(from the CD) that they could send me, or maybe know of a site that has it where the download link actually works??
All help greatly appreciated!

Hey Dave,
When you upgraded from XP to Vista, was it a fresh install of Windows or did you go for the upgrade where it preserves all of your installed files, settings, etc? If it was the latter then I suspect a file may well have been missed during the upgrade process.
Assuming this to be the case, I'd suggest uninstalling EHM and reinstalling it.
If you're unable to uninstall, then edit your shortcut to EHM and change the Target box so it says the following (obviously change the file path if you have EHM installed in a different location):
Note that the -unlicense bit comes after the speech marks.

Thanks for replying!
I bought a new comp, put my old hardrive in as a second. Tech told me in order to run some of my programs(which were all saved in my old HD) I would have to reinstall them into the new C drive. Because I was switching from XP to Vista.
I cant uninstall EHM because I bought a digital DL. I moved the files incl the exe into C from my old drive(F)
Since my first post i managed to find the file it said I was missing(elicen40.dll) but the exe still presents the same error message - "unable to find elicen40.dll".
I filled out that elicense form and sent it,explaining the problem.
If I change the target to 'uninstall license' will that not make it worse? Then I'll have an unworkable exe file and I'd remove the license as well? I dont see how I can reinstall the license without having the opening screen come up.
Appreciate your help in this!

Tried doing that. Changed the target line, but get error message saying the name specified in the target line is not valid. ( "C:\Program Files (x86)\Sports Interactive\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\ehm2007.exe" )
I've tried copying the exe file all over the place - in data folder, back to F drive, Sports Interactive folder.....always get some kind of error, missing the .dll file, cant find images, etc

It sounds like you have to unlicense the copy of the game that is installed on that old drive. Then you want to install the game fresh on your C drive. Once you've got a good install of it, you can re-license it. When you buy the game your license allows you to install the game on 2 computers. If you've used both licenses, you must un-license it from one of them before licensing it on a new one.
Honestly, your best bet would have been to unlicense the game on the old computer before moving the drive over to the new one. Then you could have just put a fresh install of the game on your new computer and licensed it without jumping through hoops.

Thanks for providing more information. I can see what has happened now.
As B72 has pointed out, your best bet would have been to uninstall EHM (and, in fact, all of your software for that matter) prior to swapping around your hard drives. You cannot simply swap installed software from one computer to another - they have to be properly installed on your new computer.
Unless you are somehow able to get back to your old computer and copy the EHM files back across then you're not going to be able to unlicense it. I notice that you think you cannot uninstall because you bought a digital download version - that's inaccurate. You can in fact uninstall perfectly fine. So long as you have your serial key then you can simply re-download the Try'n'Buy demo and activate it using your serial key.
As things are now, your best best is to re-download the Try'n'Buy demo and activate it using your serial key. As B72 says, you get two licenses so you won't have any problem. Next time you need to switch machines, don't forget to unlicense because otherwise you'll have lost your final license (in this event you can ask elicense to reset them for you - they're very helpful and quick to respond).

Thank you both for tips.
I have my old harddrive from my old computer, its labelled F in my new one. All my old files were kept, and the tech said I would have to reinstall some games/programs for them to work. The problem with EHM is that I can't reinstall. All I've been able to do is copy all the EHM files over to my C drive.
I put a copy of elicen40.dll in the Eastside folder like you said. When I dbl-click the exe I get an error message stating "Unable to load the fonts". Then it closes with a runtime error.

Ok, got it working!!!
I copied the data folder from the Sports Interactive folder to the Eastside folder. The game opened perfectly(not full screen for some reason, but I'll work on that). I personally only copied the Sports Interactive folders from my old HD to the new C drive. So not sure how the Eastside folders got there. But I guess all the pertinent info was not in the Eastside folders to begin with. I'm completely confused now with all the messing around I've done.
I also copied the saved games over, but at the moment can't seem to load any,as the screen in the game where I choose directory cant seem to find "....Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\saves". I'll keep working on that as well.
I really appreciate all the help you threw my way, it kept me digging!!

Re: e-License & Order ID Issues (EHM 2007)
Hey all, i've bought ehm 2007 in '09 and i had to reformat a couple of times, bought a new PC, the mother board burned out with a few components, thanks to warranty everythings working again but i had to reformat when it came back from the shop. Now that i want to re-install EHM when i try to un-license it they send me an error message saying that i've run out of license... i've just send e-license a message at: sales@elicense.com
Does anyboby has any clue on this??? never saw that you have a limit... and does anybody have another e-mail at e-license in case this one fails... Thanks!

Give it a few days. I'm sure e-License will get back to you. They've been very good about it in the past.

Re: e-License & Order ID Issues (EHM 2007)
Send an email to support@elicense.com if you don't hear back from the sales@elicense in a few days. I had a situation last year where my laptop was stolen, meaning I never had a chance to unlicense my game or anything. I sent a message to the eLicense support explaining the situation, they asked for some of my order information from when I purchased the game, and within a few days they had me taken care of, no problems!

thanks all !!!
I'll write to support@license 'cause i feel the sales things is an automatic reply when you buy the game.

Re: e-License & Order ID Issues (EHM 2007)
Hi All,
I hope this is the right thread for this question. I've purchased both 2005 and 2007 in the past. I really want to play 2007 again but no longer have a download link. I still have my purchase confirmation email but there's no link. If I contact elicense is there anyway they can activate a link or is it now impossible to reload 2007? What's kind of funny is I found my 2005 confirmation as well. It still had an active link and I was able to reload it and it works perfect on my Windows 7 system. I'd love to do the same with 2007.
Thanks in advance.

Nevermind my last. I found a place to repurchase it (for a third time). Enjoy your games.

Good to hear you're up and running again. However, something to keep in mind for the future is that as long as you have your Order ID (should be something like VT-ABCDEFGHIJKL), you can activate your game any time... you shouldn't need any links, or have to repurchase. When you load up an unlicensed game, you should get a special window where you can enter your order ID, and activate it.

I was looking to buy the latest EA Sports NHL game but you can't even get that for the PC. Long live EHM

Re: e-License & Order ID Issues (EHM 2007)
Hey,
after some layoff i decided to start up with NHL EHM 2007 again but found out it wasnt working anymore as it always crashed right after starting it. So i decided to uninstall it, when i wanted to unregister my license i noticed that the elicense folder was gone from my control panel. I tried the work-around with the -uninstall in the shortcut but it didnt work (even when starting it as Admin, which i tried with the game as well). Then i tried it in the command line window but there i got the error msg that i need admin rights - how do you do that in the command line window (you know the dos mode - dont know whats the name for it in english
).
When I un-installed and installed the game several times and nothing changed, i had the idea to just go for another e-license game demo just to get the e-license tool back but with every game i tried (OOTP 10 for example) i just get the same result - it crashes right away. So to me it looks like an e-license issue.
Oh by the way, i am running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Also tried it with firewall and anti-virus software turned off but no chance.
Any help would really be appriciated.
Greetings
Pete

Are you sure it was -uninstall? If so, it needs to be -unlicense.
The unlicense screen should then come up when you run the shortcut. Once it's unlicensed, you can uninstall the game like any other program from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Nope, just me being dumb. It was of course -unlicense what i used.B. Stinson wrote:Peter10 wrote:I tried the work-around with the -uninstall in the shortcut but it didnt work

Edit: And when i run the shortcut with the -unlicense tag, nothing happens at all, not even an error message.
