Bracknell Bees of the EPIHL are now ownerless

The owners were the same people who bought Basingstoke Bison over the summer, it's not looking good for Bracknell as some of their players haven't been paid for a while...

looks like they'll be staying in the EPIHL until at least the end of the season
Bracknell Bees Future Secured
17/12/2007
The future of the Bracknell Bees ice hockey team has been secured for the rest of the season and the club are now working hard to get back into action this weekend.
On Monday evening, supporters' club Chairman Stuart Robinson issued the following;
"After an incredibly long day of negotiations, we have just been informed by the English Premier League Chairman, Ken Taggart, that the proposals that have been made to keep the Bees alive for the rest of the season have been accepted by both the league and the John Nike Group. Therefore we're good to go.
"The primary reason is the fantastic support that was shown at the public meeting last Thursday and we really want that public support to come out for the meeting on Tuesday."
The public meeting is on Tuesday night (18th) in Honies Restaurant at Bracknell ice rink, beginning at 8pm, with all Bees' supporters urged to attend to find out more about the way forward.
Bees are back in action this weekend when they travel to Telford on Saturday, before hosting the Tigers at the Hive on Sunday evening (6pm).

the third professional british hockey team to be in trouble this year are Cardiff, who are making a loss of £1,000 to £1,500 a week, and need to find £18,000 to stay afloat for the rest of the season
£18,000 may not seem a lot, but it is the same as an import players salary for the year.

Hello everyone, long time no talk,
I have not been to any games in a good few Month Calv but I know they ain't doing so cracky now. I think I might head down to the Sheffield game on Saturday if I can get away from football quick enough if not I will probably go to the home game on the Sunday.
I have missed going to Ice Hockey, so should be a good return. How has the Phoenix been in the game syou have seen?

Phoenix usually start out brightly and then fade away, usually due to the fact they only really play 2 line hockey. When I saw them they had injury problems so this had more of an effect than usual. They beat Sheffield 4-0 away on saturday, but lost 5-3 to Hull on sunday
I may try and go to the game on thursday, as its their first home game on sky, however I should be revising for my exams!

also Ice Hockey now has its on page on the Sky Sports webpage:
http://www.skysports.com/icehockey/0,19 ... 96,00.html and the EIHL results now appear on Sky Sports news, so it's slowly getting more coverage!

That's the only problem with me and weekday's. With me living in Huddersfield it is hard for me to get to midweek games, I would love to though but by the time I got home I would be in bed later than usual for work, Unless I booked Friday off as I have 4 day's to get in then that would involve me catching a train.
I went to about 5-6 home games on the trot at the start of the season and they started of very brightly indeed, it is just a shame that for some reason or another they have faded away.
Did they get the seating sorted out behind the goal? As I reckon it would be a good view from there.
P.S Where has Minty got to, I see he has not posted since last August.

I knew about the results on SS as I always see them going across at the bottom but didn't know about the webpage, at least Ice Hockey in this country is getting more coverage now, hopefully they will start to show live games soon enough.

yeah they got the seating in behind the goal, the view of the near goal is pretty good, slightly better than sitting in line with the faceoff circle where I used to sit.

I hope they show the playoff final live

What? THe old man was not good enough? What? I thought he was a god. Where is he on this roster?
Or is he the coach?

by Calv
He retired from international duty last Euro Champs, and is assistant coach to Paul Thompson.

And Tessier is confirmed by Kalamazoo Wings as leaving for Sheffield who have given him a conctract for next year as well. He can't be cheap but he could be the difference between winning the playoffs and Sheffield going trophyless for another season

Hey...I was reading all those stats..somehow I knew Calv would find a way to get Tony Hand to the top of a table.
And sure enough...there it is, the last table, and at the top of the BRITISH point scorers list is Grandpa Hand. Shocking!! Time for him to have babies and get his grandkids on the ice.
Is that not like having a special category for Canadians playing football? Well, except for Hargraves on that Brit team, who is really a Canadian, and just shirked his duty to play for his country like Lennox Lewis..but yeah, off topic rant there.

Depends what the Canadian football league is like. If, like the EIHL, it is dominated(in both numbers & skill) by imports then I would put a separate table for Canadian football players. If it wasn't then I wouldn't

The Senior GB team had a good 2-2 draw with Sweden U-20s last night.
GB took the lead through Ashley Tait in the 15th minute, and held it until Persson scored for Sweden on 33 minutes. Erkgards put the swedes in front with 5 minutes to go but David Clarke scored with 55 seconds left to tie it up.
May not sound great for any other nation, but the Sweden U-20 had more draft picks in their team than GB has ever had!(Currently only 2 GB players have ever been drafted).
The World Championships start next week in Austria, and GB play Poland, Austria, Korea, Netherlands & Kazakhstan.
