What about getting rid of some of those players that retire at the beginning of the game? All of those guys are making that first regen draft class too strong. If you deleted those guys and didn't have them set to retire immediately, they wouldn't get become regens and unbalance things.
Hmm, an interesting idea. How do we decide on who to take away?
Didn't Lidas say that he's been retiring guys since he started updating the DB? I would look at dropping the guys that have been retired the longest. Maybe only keep guys that have retired in the last couple seasons? Of course, this would be better to do once we've got somebody to research updating the CHL leagues and the top 100ish ranked in the upcoming draft.

Speaking of researching the draft... does anyone here at TBL have a subscription to The Redline Report? Those are professional scouting reports that are released on the draft eligible players. That would be a huge help in researching these guys.

Something I just noticed yesterday is that both Crosby and Malkin salaries are incorrect. They are actually paid $8.7 million rather than $7.8 million as the game currently states. That's a $1.8 million cap hit difference for those of you who didn't feel like doing the math.

Sorry if this has already been posted....I'm at work and don't have time to go through all 7 pages of the thread.

I don't know what db you're using but they are both listed at 8.7 in Lidas3.0

I have a question regarding prospects. How variable are they from game to game? In my game both pretty much every Canuck prospect including 1st rounders Jordon Schroeder and Cody Hodgson absolutely suck. I have one prospect on the Moose that other teams would trade for and he is also the ONLY prospect that my scouts and coaches say has a chance to play in the NHL. Both Schroeder and Hodgson are barely cracking a 6 rating on the Moose and most everybody else down there sucks too. Even though the Canucks are doing ok any callups absolutely suck including Glass, Tanev, Bolduc etc. Aanyway not complaining but just wondering about the variability of younger players in the game. :)

I'm using the Lidas 3.0 Rosters that I downloaded from this site (the rosters that are required to play the current challenge)...I just pulled it up again on my laptop...Both are at 7.8. How can I confirm which db I'm using?

They show up as $7.8M on mine too. I'm just starting season 2 of the challenge, using the proper DB and everything. Is it possible that $7.8 is the max that the game will allow?

I did the Canucks prospects rosters, and I just want to say that the calculations for the CAs of Hodgson and Schroeder were disappointing. I did what I could with their attributes but as is they'll both probably have poor seasons in the first year.

If memory serves 7.8 was the max salary the year EHM 2007 came out.

Thanks for the reply empach :) I'll find out what happens in the coming years I guess. Hopefully they improve and make the team eventually.

I think this was already mentioned but Ovechkin, Semin and Backstrom are way too good compared to the rest of the league, especially Semin and Backstrom. I am playing 2 different games and 2 seasons in both games they are 1-2-3 in league scoring in all seasons that I've played. Also Pittsburgh seems quite weak compared to real life.
:dunno: :-? :thdn:

I'd also like some toning down overall around the league. Top players should have fewer 20's like 2-4 each.

$8.8 mil is the max with the standard, default $44 mil cap.

I am currently swamped in research that I have promised to put in the next version. If anyone out there would like to give rating the NHLers a go, please do. I don't have the time right now but it would be great to have in the next update

Yeah, Backstrom is really over the top. My scouts call him a "Phenom Forward" and compare him to a more talented, defensive-minded Vincent Lecavalier. That seems a bit much.

Of course, saying somebody is over or under rated is easier than coming up with objective ratings for them. I'm just not familiar enough with players outside of my favorite team to give them fair and accurate ratings.
