At least they started out that way this season, didn't they?
Yes they did and this is the result of it

Yep, but there goes our "Omat Pojat" project.

And what comes to the "All-finnish roster" they have been saying that for maybe 3 or 4 seasons in a row

When they've said so? Jokerit haven't declared all-Finnish roster since 90's.

Nylander is heading to Jokerit for the rest of this season. Is he finnish enough?

That ones from last march, didn't have time to look it up earlier.
Roughly translated (and i'm sure some of you guys will correct me if i make mistakes here

) to those of you, who don't speak finnish:
Jokerit owner Harkimo said that the team has had enough of foreign players. 'When they're gone we can build one line from our own youngsters. The new coach won't have any other option.' Then there's more talk, mostly about the unrenewed contracts of Hancock, Ling and Tenute, the firing of Hancock and the upcoming signings of Hentunen and Aravirta.
I guess it just goes to show, that when the opportunity presents itself to sign great players (in this case Battaglia, Nylander), you can't be thinking about nationalities.

Washington Capitals board said that they will pay Michael Nylander's salary for this year. This way, Jokerit doesn't have to pay anything and Washington lose Nylander's earnings (5 mills) from their player budget.
More transfer news:
Antti Pihlström goes to Jyp

Why on earth then they sent him to Jokerit? If he would play in farm, they would have 5 millions more cash to use.

I'm not sure but he didn't have 2-way-clause, so they should have paid those 5 millions in NHL and in AHL.

Jussi Makkonen started superbly his Jyp-career: first game and 2 goals and assist to game-winning-goal.

Pillu plays in Jyp to the 2011 so maybe after that season.

But we make new contract (if he plays well) with him.

Yeah, but scored most goals last season. Things not so simple: depends on coach and his tactics, team mates, line mates etc.

A9L3E wrote:So this is Harkimo's "junior project".

I hope that Nylander isn't gonna be in first line, because there are already two offensive wingers, so then there wouldn't be anyone defending. Maybe he'll fit in second line.
Nylander isn't defensive forward. He's first line, 1pp and maybe lil pk. If you're talking about that Pirnes is better first line center... He is better 2nd line center

That's why I didn't believe that he's gonna fit between Bremberg and Hentunen.

Is the first line what you're talking about is the line of Lahti and Rita. I considered the line where Bremberg and Hentunen plays as first line.

I didn't read that post to end.
I was 'bout that you can't put player worth of 5 mills. to 2nd line. Nylander to 1st line with Rita (or Battaglia) and someone else, maybe Teemu Pulkkinen (but he's injured). That could be interesting line: Nylander assist, Pulkkinen scores, Rita (or Batts) hits and scores. Pirnes, Hentunen and Bremberg to 2nd line and 2nd pp. I would be good for them, that they don't have to play so much in every game, especially Pirnes, who has played 1st line, 1st pp and 1st pk.
But i've heard that Nylander will play next year in Jokerit, i'm not sure. If he plays, he must be in same line with Pulkkinen.

Nylander and Batts has started well their career in Jokerit. Nylander assisted 5-3 pk goal made by Hentunen. Batts has played superbly two games. Especially he surprised in his first game, when he played well against Ässät. He was just came to Finland and played in same day without sleeping. He has been awake about 30 hours.

Maybe he slept well after that first game.

What's going on with Nylander? Two game misconduct penalties in 5 games

Jody Shelley took one (if i remember right) in 14 games when he played in Jyp. And he's enforcer, Nylander playmaker.
And when Shelley came to Finland, people scared his achievements (fights). When Nylander came, people scared his achievements (skills and career in NHL).
Nylander has scored 1+1 in 5 games in this season. Good to us, bad to him and Jokerit.

He is a total moron. I know why even Caps don't want him.

Let's see what happens in future, he has always took many pms when he has played in Sm-league. In 1994-95 he played 16 games with something like 60 penalty minutes.
