Various bits of good news for you Bruins fans...
Thomas contract extension
and rookie Boyes gets a hat-trick last night...
Meanwhile, the play-off chase is hotting up...
play-off race
It is really frustrating that this is also a busy period for me- despite taping Hockey on Five I never get round to watching it. It was the Olympic final the last time I watched a full game of hockey...

I haven't seen any details on Thomas's new contract, but $3m for 3 years sounds about right. I guess this means Raycroft will be out at the end of the season. You don't pay a guy that much to sit in the minors. I'm glad for him, he's not only been a good goaltender, but you can't beat his attitude. I think he's been a good guy to have in the locker-room.

I understand and even appreciate guys like Thomas who have 'paid their dues' being rewarded but at his age and amount of NHL experience three years seems excessive to me. Yeah give the guy credit a vote of confidence and a pay raise but it would have made more sense to give him a year and an option year along with some potential bonuses should he string together a whole solid season. He's 32 next month which should have been more of a consideration I think.
It's a fair enough deal but I just don't understand the three years part... but then I guess we shouldn't be looking for Boston personel decisions to make sense after the Thornton deal.

Well, I think that the Thomas deal is not bad.
He is playing really good and he has waited a long time to get a good contract. He seems always happy and is always smiling in the game, it seems that he is really enjoying what he is doing.
I dont think that his age will be a problem, ok he will be 32 soon, but I dont think that this is old for a goalie.
With this signing it seems that the days of Razor Raycroft in Boston are counted, and I dont like that!! I still believe that Razor will be a excellent goalie in the NHL and that we probably will regret if he leaves.
Lately all the decisions ODonnell has made are questionable and this is probably the only good thing he has done this year. I really hope we dont have to see him for a long time as GM in Boston!!! Please leave the Boston Bruins, Mike!!!!
EASTERN CONFERENCE:
13th. BOSTON: GP: 70 W: 27 L: 31 OTL:12 PTS: 66 GF: 198 GA: 223
GUILTY!!!!!!!!!

I don't think we have any chance of getting into the post season. We just couldn't sustain our run of results; for that we don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
The only positive note was Czerkawski's first goal. He had been playing on the left but yesterday MOC put him on the right (apparently his preferred side).

Well, thats not a bad news. PJ has been playing good this season, specially on defense, shuting down the opponent stars (I remember great games of him against Ovechkin, Alfredsson or Jagr!!!).archibalduk wrote:PJ Axelsson has signed a three year extension with the Bruins
Seems that MOC wants to do something right before he leaves!!!!.........hopefully!!!
NOW RESIGN PATRICE LONGTERM!!!!!!!!!! PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Two seriously rediculous
moments in last nights Vancouver - LA game if you can snag some highlights
First of all on a rush one of the Sedins played the puck around his back and then through his legs to beat a defender, it's one of those things you just have to see to believe, it defies description.
The other was just a bonecrusher of a hit (literally too as the blood seemed to poitn to a sure broken nose) on Matt Cooke by Dustin Brown. Yikes!!!
It was borderline high elbow/sholder hit along the boards but Cooke bounced off the glass like a ping pong ball and went straight down to ice seemingly out cold when he hit. He hit the ice like someone picked him up over their head and dropped him flat. He went off with blood pouring from the outside and inside of his nose into a towel... what a unbelivable hit though, replays will probably slo-mo it but it was even worse in real time.

Yes, I saw them too....I usually watch the highlights on NHL.com, where they are a bit more longer than in ESPN.
The hit from Dustin Brown was brutal!!!
BTW, did somebody watch the (I think it was their third) goal from the Devils against the Bruins the other day??
Devils on the PP, a dman shot the puck into the zone and it came slowly to Tim Thomas who wanted to play the puck away, but missed and it squeezed into the goal....even me as a Bruins fan had to laugh about that!!! Stupid goal, really!!
