You seem to like some offensive style of play? You dont have good 1st goalie, so use this:

http://www.filefront.com/14783043/Try%2 ... 20Ronc.tct

Very offensive tactic. Your goalie will always have under 0.900, but you will dominate!
Currently 2nd with Wild, first season going on.
If doesnt work good, try changing backchecking, dumping etc.

EDIT: Best way if you want more stable change Defensive zone to Open

Season finished:
318GF
300GA
Bouchard 115pts
Brunette 102
Gaborik 96

What are some really good tactics to maximize the potential of offensive defensemen?

If I've got an offensive defenseman with a really good slapshot rating I set his shooting to "Barrage", set his tendency to "Shoot" and set the line's tactics for "Shot from point" in the Offensive Faceoffs.

Anyone use a defense first tactic? Looks like many other people use a very offensive tactic (I use to as well) which is very effective and won me a lot of cups, but I'm looking for a more realistic tactic. Not something like the default trap tactic, a tactic that someone created.

Thanks a ton.

My team has taken way too many penalties. The past 2 seasons there always seems to be anywhere from 9-11 PP's for the other team per game. I don't know how to change it, I often see charging calls, roughing, hooking. I can't come to a conclusion on how to fix it. The aggresiveness on my top 2 lines is at normal. Bottom 2 are aggressive. 2 Lines hit hard, 1 line hits normal, and 4th line hits very hard. There is a high tempo on every line also and heavy puck pressure.

This is just information I assume would be useful. Can anyone help?

Sounds to me like you've got hitting set way too high - along w/ aggressiveness and puck pressure, this will cause me to take a bunch roughing/charging, etc. Hooking calls seem to come from guys getting caught out of position - puck pressure too high, or going for the big hit and needing to catch up, or gap control set too close

I'd adjust your hitting, or maybe your puck pressure. I understand wanting an 'energy' 4th line, but maybe you're set for too much energy? The guys on your line(s) might not be capable of the tactics.

As has been said by others here, I use personal tactics to address these settings individually. Penalties went way down, and you can then adjust for individuals.

Good luck! :)

Defender:
First, what roster do you use?
Second, this post should go here.
Third, what's the problem? Goals allowed or what?

What stats are important to make a line 'tough'? My 2nd, 3rd and 4th line have only 2 stars in toughness, while my 1st line has 4 stars.

Tactical settings?

oops! Maybe I posted this question in the wrong place, I am posting once again in here.

I have a fantasy league using the EHM 2007 engine.
I have 16 managers managing the team through me and I have a website with all the results I am able to print out.
the actual games are handled by teh assistant, but he try to use the tactics that my 16 human players tell me to use.

The thing is that there are 14 A.I. teams, and I can see that they are a bit too good compared to most human teams.
The question I have: Is there any general settings in the tactics that I can change to all human teams so that they step un an level. For excample, maybe the forechecking attributes, the use or not use of a certain playmaker, maybe the positioning of the players MUST be on the position they play the best, mayeb mentality set to highest works like pants all the time? I think you get what I mean.

I am not able to scout for every team and use all of the games advantages as I have 16 teams to change.
I just hope that there is a general setting in the tactics that works better than a setting that might never work.
What I will do then is to set all teams on this setting.

Of Course the player attributes are important, maybe that is the main thing here I suppose.
My managers do not see the attributes but I give them hints, most of the time it is not needed because the know how good the players are anyway.

But once in a while a player with naff attributes slips through though. Maybe a defender with 6 on tackling and 7 on positioning. Does that destroy everything then?

I hope I have explained my concerns and that someone can give me a hint.
By the way it is real fun to do this and I hope I can develope this furher

I have this 1st round pick defenseman, that I hoped to be a key player to my team. He played played in his junior teams with 9.5-10.0 overall seasons.

He has now played 4 full seasons on my nhl team, and he averages about 7.0. He has the skils, but I can´t get his full potential on the ice. Tell me, how would you play this guy? How would you set his personal tactics?
I have tried it all but nothing works. I´m considering trading him for draftpicks unless he starts to make a bigger impression.

Oh, and his consistency is 20. :-D

I use the 1-20 system on attributes and not the 1-99 system, so I may be off on some of these tactical settings. This is for even strength only.

Mentality - don't set, let the line tactics determine this one.
Aggressiveness - Aggressive
Backchecking - Hard or Very Hard
Gap Control - Tight
Puck Pressure - Very Heavy
Hitting - Very Hard
Tempo - Normal or High
Passing - Normal
Shooting - Heavy
Dumping the Puck - don't set, let the line tactics determine this one.

Shoot/Pass Tend - Pass
Fighting - Allowed
Carry the Puck - Don't Check
Join Rush - It depends on his defense partner and what pairing they are. I'd be temped to leave this unchecked and have him focus purely on defense.

This guy doesn't look like the type of player that is going to have huge points. He's not an offensive defenseman. He's a defense first guy. Get him to hit a lot and maybe fight once in a while. Use him to shut the other team down and maybe chip in the occasional point. Unfortunately, this type of player isn't always going to get the high game ratings but he's going to help your team win.

Height&weight, strength, together with bravery, hitting and balance. And maybe aggression. Easy, isn't it? ;)

Captcrunch wrote:Hello everyone!

I'm currently having a blast with my challenge team and I'm in the process of trying to develop a personalized personal tactic roadmap for my club. The goal was to establish a simple structure to help me put all my players in the same frame of reference. I also wanted to bypass default unit tactics and change players from line to line instead. Thx to EHM guide and this discussion for inspiration! This roadmap is subject to change and their effectiveness will change depending on the line's tactical positioning and general team's option.

Personal tactic format

Attribute rating
1-7: Weakest setting (1/5)
8-9-10-11: Second weakest (2/5)
12-13-14: Normal setting (3/5)
15-16-17: High setting (4/5)
18-20: Highest setting (5/5)

Criterias

Mentality: Look in the player's scout report. Defensive player = defensive. Two way = neutral. Offensive = offensive. Scout's career role might influence it a bit (a career checker with a two way game might get a defensive setting instead of the normal one)
Aggressiveness: Look at aggressiveness attribute
Backchecking: Look at acceleration, speed, stamina and checking attributes
Gap control: Look at acceleration, speed and positioning attributes
Puck pressure:Look at checking and pokecheck attributes
Hitting: Look at hitting and strength attributes
Tempo: Look at acceleration, speed and stamina attributes
Passing: Look at passing and creativity attributes
Shooting: Look at Slapshot + Wristshot. Low at both lowers the setting. High at both elevates the setting. Low wrist + high slap, I follow the slapshot setting up to barrage. Low slap + high wrist lowers the setting to get more quality and precision at the cost of volume.
Dumping the puck: Depend on the line's role. Not personalized.

Shoot/Pass bias: Strongest skill. Career role in scout report can influence the decision. There must at least be 1 passer and 1 shooter per line, ideally of opposite hand side.
Fighting: strenght, aggression and value of player

Carry puck: Deking + stickhandling
Join rush: Look at acceleration, speed and off the puck attributes
Okay, so I've been using this method to determine my players' personal tactics for quite a while now. What I'm wondering is, how might you use these in your tactics for a junior hockey team? If we use the following for NHL tactics, they would need to be adjusted for a league where the players have a lower range of attributes...

Personal tactic format

Attribute rating
1-7: Weakest setting (1/5)
8-9-10-11: Second weakest (2/5)
12-13-14: Normal setting (3/5)
15-16-17: High setting (4/5)
18-20: Highest setting (5/5)

I think the 12-13-14 might by the highest setting in junior hockey. How would you break it down?

Posted: Mon Apr 12, 2010 6:04 pm
by bruins72
Maybe this?

Attribute rating
1-2-3: Weakest setting (1/5)
4-5-6: Second weakest (2/5)
7-8-9: Normal setting (3/5)
10-11-12: High setting (4/5)
13-14: Highest setting (5/5)

I think this might be more suitable...

I'm seeing some junior players with some attributes in the 15-16 range so this breakdown seems a little more reasonable.

Hmm, interesting. Seems reasonable to me.

Guess I thought I'd start with a similar setup to the NHL tactics - I mean, a player's only as good as he is - should we put him at a super-high tempo when he's not capable of it? Regardless of level?

Will prove interesting. If I use the original, or similar, I'll let you know when I have to change LOL :-p

Can't remember how much practice these guys can handle. That's another topic, though :D

Hey guys. SO I need a little bit of tactics help. I've made these tactics to be geared towards more offense. I am experiencing pretty good results but for some reason a lot of times my team will just completely collapse towards the end of the season and go on a horribly terrible (lol) losing streak.

Also, I'm thinking that there's always room for improvement.

Can some of you tactical experts download my tactics and maybe give them a try out session and tell me what you think works/doesn't work and tell me what you think I can and should change to make them even better?

Thanks guys, the link to the tactics is:

Thanks guys :D :)

Also please enable "unit tactics"!

Hey, i'm looking for tactic which is the most balanced. Tactic where defense will work well and goalkeeper savingpercentage is like .920 - .940 and team will score like 220-260 goals in season. Here in this site and forum is many many offensive tactic, but perhaps no good defense tactic. I have try game's originals tactic like defensive, neutral zone trap, there are kind of good and i liked to play like that tactics. But i'm interesting to test someone tactic, who has successfully create balanced tactic. :-k

And this is my strategy to make a winning team, from the bottom i will create or i want see that balanced tactic.

- Goalkeeper is very very important, and i like that goalie is star like Luongo or Brodeur or Lundqvist or Miller who is my idol now.
- First D-pair is like star D and key D, one is allways offensive and second is sometimes offensive and sometimes good defensive D. Second pair is like core D and core D or one key D, who is defensive and core D who is offensive and third pair is most time depth and depth D's.
- In offense first line is key-key-key where is allways one or two good playmaker and one star sniper and the line will make many goals and score lots of points. Second line will give a good support for the first line and in second line there is good playmaker and wingers who will scores good point total. And in third and fourth line's i allways like to bring cheap players. Nowadays i like to pick guys like Betts, Yelle, Chris Kelly, Draper, Asham, Adams who will bring a good defensive in the attack and thosen line's are not going to get's too many minus. 8-)

Yeah, that's my strategy to make team, and i'm thankful if some tacticgenius will get this challenge and make whit that strategy a balanced tactic. =D> I try to make my own super tactic with tutorials in this forum, but that tactic didin't work so good what i expected. And if nobody is going to get a challenge, i'm going to try make again a supertactic what will bring enjoing times with this wonderfull game 8-) And sorry about language, i try to explain as well as possible what i like to see.
