Paradis has been converted to a full-time winger since last year, so maybe put him LW/C/RW.

Also for the Cats, Bournival mostly plays W, so maybe put him LW/C instead of a center. That's about it.

Some minor stuff, but just to keep the DB up to date.
No changes are too minor. All fixed.

Ryan Callahan on the Rangers should have the primary position of a RW.

Should go RW/LW/C

Ville Koistinen of the Panthers has been playing right wing this year. Though apparently he hasn't impressed there and may be returning to defense.

Should go LW/RW

Jonas Holøs - Plays more or less RD this season. From LD/RD to RD/LD.
Lee Goren - Plays RW, C mostly on faceoffs. From C/RW to RW/C.

tksolway wrote:I agree with Bruins72. If he went in the seventh round to detroit, that means that every other team thought there were about 7 other better players in the draft. As for the head scout's opinion on him, he's a little biased don't you think? If he came out and said "Well he has no real redeaming qualities at all, he'll be lucky to break into the AHL", how long do you think he would keep his job considering it was his pick? Don't get me wrong, I love my team too, but you gotta take a step back from the kool-aid stand every now and then.
His position in the Entry Draft should have absolutely no outcome on his future. Just because he wasn't drafted before the 7th round doesn't mean other teams passed him up. Almqvist was lost in the depth chart at HV 71 because the team has been a contender or champion for the past 5 seasons and he was only 17 all of last season. I have said this in the past, but some Swedish players will go undrafted because they play in the SuperElit or J18Elit rather than the more readily available Elitserien and Allsvenskan leagues. The players drafted higher than Almqvist from Sweden had the chance to play on the World Junior Championship rosters, another big scouting point at the end of the season.

I am not saying he is going to be the next superstar, clearly reporting what I have heard from Scouts from the Red Wings and HV 71.

And for Hakan Andersson to say that Almqvist has the best hockey sense he has seen in many years and to say he would go in the 1st round if he was more developed physically, obviously this kid has a chance to make it to the big leagues. He is already impressing HV-71's main club and that is why they offered him a three year extension and called him "star of the future".

tksolway wrote:If you feel that he's that player and want to play the game like that, you can always make the edits to the database for yourself as well. I've been known to do that with my Oilers from time to time when I believed that the ratings were a bit out. Might have to try it again with Penner as a Superstar :).
That is not the point of keeping an up to date, accurate rating for each and every player for everyone to use. I would like to see every player in the DB ranked accurately.
tksolway wrote:Penner is a good example to relate this too though. He's currently tied for 3rd in the league in scoring. By the logic you present here, we should raise all his stats by 5 (since in the current rosters he's a decent top six forward, not a superstar). But, who's to say he's not just on a streak and will end the season with 60 points. Until at least the trade deadline I don't expect any real changes to him, since he needs to prove that this isn't just a streak. Mabye by the trade deadline, if he still is running at a point a game pace or better he'll get a bump.
You completely overlooked the changes I presented. All of the changes I presented were from what Scouts have said about him and from what I have read on Swedish Hockey websites. I only presented 6 attribute changes for the player and all of the changes were based on actual data, not my opinion. Maybe the changes were slightly steep, but I believe that these 6 attributes needed to be fixed.

- Mental Adjustments - Anticipation (11 to 15), Decisions (11 to 16), Vision (12 to 18)
- Technical Adjustments - Movement (9 to 12), Passing (9 to 14), Slapshot (7 to 10)

Maybe Lidas, you could set Slapshot to 8, Movement to 10, Passing to 11-12, Anticipation and Decisions to 12 and Vision to 14. I believe that based on the information I have provided, these improvements could be made to his profile.
tksolway wrote:You also have to remember that not every european defenseman can transistion to the smaller ice, they have much less room to work, both on the power play, and in getting the puck out of the zone. Let's see how he does this season, then his ratings could increase based upon acutal production.
Why should playing in Europe affect his potential in the game? I know what point you are trying to make, but how is that relevant to the game?

And here are his statistics throughout his young career:

2006-2007
HV71 J18 (J18 Elit) - 1 GP 0-0-0 0 PIM
Team Sweden U16 (all) - 8 GP 0-1-1 2 PIM

2007-2008
Småland (TV-Pucken) - 8 GP 1-6-7 10 PIM
HV71 J18 (J18 Elit) - 13 GP 7-9-16 26 PIM
HV71 J18 (J18 Allsvenskan) - 5 GP 1-3-4 2 PIM
HV71 J20 (SuperElit) - 23 GP 1-6-7 12 PIM (Playoffs - 3 GP 0-0-0 4 PIM)
Team Sweden U17 (all) - 6GP 0-2-2 6 PIM

2008-2009
HV71 J20 (SuperElit) - 41 GP 8-28-36 44 PIM (Playoffs - 6 GP 1-5-6 4 PIM)
Team Sweden U18 (all) - 14 GP 1-3-4 10 PIM

2009-2010
HV71 J20 (SuperElit) - 13 GP 5-24-29 14 PIM
HV71 (Elitserien) - Will start playing after he returns from international duties.

Throughout his career, Almqvist has 72 points in only 77 SuperElite (Sweden's Top Junior League) games.

I'm not sure with this one(would like people to comment on this), but is Ryan Getlaf a little bit overated?

:dunno:

Because after 1 year, he owns the league and has better stats then Ovechkin and Crosby, I don't realy think it's like that in real life.

He is a pretty kick ass player in real life too :-). Definatley one of the best center's in the game now and in the future.

You are right, these rosters are for everyone, that is why everyone has a vested interest. The problem is, even if you believe that this player is the real deal, the rest of us will need some actual proof other than the self-serving opinion of the scout that drafted him. The problem here is that the ranking of a player is a matter of opinion, since lidas is trying to build the database for everyone, he keeps the ratings in line with our collective opinions. Obviously some of us think better of some players than others. However, we are all hesitant to give a 7th round pick such a large boost (the -15 potential means he could be the next Nik Lidstrom), because if any other team thought he could be the next Nik Lidstrom, he would have been picked long before the 7th round.

If by this time next year he's tearing up the swedish leagues and we're all proven wrong, cool :-).

Great (and very much) work Lidas!

The
Some quick input for Kölner Haie (DEL)

Frank Doyle => Charlotte Checkers (seen today on eliteprospects)
Todd Warriner=> Free Agent
Stephane Julien is missing (was only loaned to RB Salzburg last year)
Kevin Hecquefeuille should be C
Martin Bartek (RW) is missing
Dusan Frosch should be RW/LW
Daniel Rudslätt should be LW/C
Gerrit Fauser should be LW/C
Goalie Maximilian Englbrecht is missing (loaned to Duisburg)
Christopher Mauch is not under contract anymore

Wages are perhaps not very accurate. E. g. Weibel should be much higher (about 120.000), Rudslätt should be lower (about 95.000).

Some other DEL stuff i noticed:
Mannheim:
Colin Beardsmore has German Citizenship, Chris Schmidt is missing, Dan McGillis is Free Agent, Justin Papineau is missing

Did anyone change the atts of players in the CHL? I only ask because in the first draft no one really turns out. I did a couple of sims and Hall and Seguin are like 4th liners at best for example.

You just got unlucky with the PA of the prospects. The top prospects have the potential (-9) to be stars, but in a worst-case scenario, they can become career third-liners as well. I would probably rate Taylor Hall's determination and work rate slightly higher though... that guy's got s stellar work ethic already.

As for the whole Almqvist discussion, I think the best solution to this is to simply edit him yourself if you feel he's underrated. If he turns out to be the next late-round Detroit draft steal, we can account for that in a couple of years. Remember, Detroit passed on him 6 times, along with every other NHL team. I think the Wings decided to go with the slightly risky pick in Almqvist that could pay off handsomely; however, you must never set your expectations too high with a seventh-round pick.

Another example of a potential seventh-round steal is Steven Anthony (drafted by Vancouver) - the guy used to be subject of first-round talk, but failed to make the transition to the QMJHL. While it's possible the guy could one day surpass all expectations and become an NHL talent, it's far more likely, as it is with all seventh-round picks, that he will not make it past the AHL at any point in his career. For every seventh-round steal, there are probably 100 other seventh-round flops.

Yep, just edit yourself. However, remember if you play in a TBL challenge---You cannot use your edited database and most likely will be caught. Only the Lidas db (whatever version is declared) will be allowed in the challenge.

As for Anthony and Almqvist....GMs and their team scouts always hype their draft picks. Anyone recall that Patrick White was going to be a star when Nonis selected him? Of course these guys talk up their players..you cannot rely on the PR machine of individual clubs to determine how a prospect is going to turn out. If you did, every 7th rounder would be a star in the future. Of course the Canucks hype Anthony, of course the Red Wings hype Almqvist. Just like the Canucks hype up the signing of the midget in Everett, and the Red Wings hype Willie Coetzee (although the wings may be right on him, not so sure about whats his name in Everett...)

Some minor tweaks for Hannover Indians (Germany 2.Bundesliga)
I know, they are not playable in this game, but perhaps you wanna include these changes nonetheless.

Players completely missing:
G Dennis Korff (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)
D Nick Martens (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)
F Jeremy Wagner (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)

F Arthur Lemmer (http://www.pferdeturmtowers.de/index.ph ... Itemid=141)
F Christoph Koziol (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)
D Tobias Stolikowski (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)
D Brad Bagu (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)
D Matthias Bergmann (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)
D Jan Philipp Priebsch (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)
F Bryan Phillips (http://www.hannover-indians.de/index.ph ... &Itemid=67)

Players already in the database but missing for Hannover:
G Benjamin Voigt (Free Agent)
LW Daniel Huhn (EV Landsberg 2000, he also has German nationality)
RW Torben Saggau (Hamburg Freezers)
LW Josh Olson (Hannover Scorpions, was probably placed to the wrong team)
C/RW Kyle Doyle (Free Agent)

Players who have left Hannover:
G Lukas Smolka (probably Free Agent)
LD/RD Trevor Wright (Don`t even know who he is :D )
LW Adam Dewan (probably retired, I read that he will be a part-time coach for a canadian junior team)
C Daniel Del Monte (has been released a few days ago)
RW/C Devin Rask (probably retired)

Additional information:
G Thomas Ower belongs to Frankfurt Lions (DEL), but has been loan to Hannover to gain playing experience ("Förderlizenz")
RW Torben Saggau belongs to Hannover but has a "Förderlizenz" for Hamburg Freezers (DEL) to get playing time at a higher level

I would love to add information for the missing players in order to help out with the attributes, but I only get to see the team play a few times a year, so I wouldn't be anywhere near accurate.

Thanks for the great updates, Lidas!
