So it works when I used the unpatched rosters. The patched rosters work for 6.1 though. Just to try something different, I tried creating a new game with all leagues set to enhanced. It still crashed. I had been trying with NHL, AHL, ECHL, and Canadian Junior. So next I tried with ONLY the NHL selected. This time, no crash! So next I tried creating a game with NHL and AHL enabled. I believe you have to have the NHL selected when starting a new game. Again, no crash! Next I added ECHL. Again, no crash! Next, I selected just the NHL and the Canadian Juniors. CRASH! It appears to be some sort of problem with the Canadian Juniors.
Is that any help?

Very interesting. It makes me wonder whether there is an issue with one of the players contracted to a CHL team. Maybe something like a contract length (I have always had a niggling feeling that the CSD Patch doesn't quite fix contracts of certain lengths).
I'm going to make a modified version of the v6.3 DB for you to try. I'll try to get it online later today for you.

Try this:
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=A ... ile%2c.zip
I've made all CHL players UFAs. If it still crashes, it's a team/league issue. If not, it'll be a roster or contract issue.

That one crashed too. I guess it's a team/league thing then.

Manimal - Were there any changes to the teams in the CHL for v6.3?

Not that I can think of.
Plus, I haven't seen the issue before. The 6.3 version is used by the challenge so it should work

Can anyone else replicate this crash?
I really don't know what could be doing this. Like I said, I have no problem with creating a new game in 6.1. It's just 6.3 and it's only the CSD version. It only happens when Canadian Juniors are selected.

How are you using the CSD patch? I am using the apply patch only and I have no problem

I was using apply patch and launch (I've done Windowed on my work XP computer and Standard on my home Win8 laptop). I just did Apply Patch Only on my work computer and it still crashed, right at the end of "Creating Shortlists". Just to see if there was something that came next, I started a new game with 6.1 and right after "Creating Shortlists" is where you get to choose your team.
To test further, I started a new game using the 6.3 CSD Rosters but did NOT use the patch. I know this will mess with birthdays and such, it's just a test. This actually works. So 6.1 works with the CSD patch and 6.3 is not.

I just tried, used "Launch and Patch" and Selected all Leagues (July 31st start date)...and 6.3 loaded up/started just fine for me

Just in case it was some odd thing with the leagues, I tried with all leagues selected (instead of just the 4 I had been selecting). Still crashes. So then I was thinking that maybe start date played a factor. I had been using the default September start date. So I tried to start a game with all leagues selected and the July 31st start date that you used. This worked!
Now this is really making me wonder what's going on. Have you tried starting a game with the default date selected?

Hmmm. Since this is start date related, I just tried something else. I selected NHL, AHL, ECHL and Canadian Juniors and this time started with the CHL's August start date. This too allows me to choose a team and start a new game. It seems like it's forcing you to use the earliest start date available.
What start date has everyone else been using when starting a game? I was doing it like we normally would for challenges. Those four leagues selected but the NHL start date. We used the 6.3 database in the last challenge but we're playing a CHL team, so we used the August start date.

Just tried using the default (September 4th) date and got the same crash as you've been experiencing! Crashed at the end of "Creating Shortlists"
bruins72 wrote:What start date has everyone else been using when starting a game?
I've always chosen the earliest available start date (as the CSD Patch directions recommend)

Interesting! The funny thing is, on all the past versions I've used the NHL start date with other leagues selected and not had an issue.
I'm glad you mentioned the start date because otherwise I don't know if I would have looked in that direction.

Why didn't I think of that?
Earliest start date is necessary when using the csd patch. Forgot to mention that
If you had all leagues selected but not the first possible start date (Russia) then you would get a crash at some time. Not sure about the exact date, but it would come.
Always use the earliest start date (with the CSD patch) from now on and you'll be fine

Honestly, it's never happened in the past. Like I said, in all NHL challenges I've start the game using the CSD patch, selecting NHL, AHL, ECHL, and Canadian Juniors (as per our challenge rules), and then start with the NHL start date (also per our challenge rules). Not once have I run into this issue.

I'm just happy I got it to work now. Thanks everyone!

Yeah how could I forget that too!
It's weird how it works okay with v6.1 and not v6.3.
Manimal wrote:Always use the earliest start date (with the CSD patch) from now on and you'll be fine
For whatever reason, the exact starting date each season seems to vary. The NHL / US start date is sometimes a bit too late for the Euro/Canadian leagues. Hence it's best to use the earliest date available as it avoids any risk of this.

The number of teams in the AHL is hardcoded and can't be changed + IRL the number of AHL teams has increased by three since EHM07 came out in 2006...so the TBL Rosters have three IRL AHL teams are in the ECHL (see the writing in red at the top of the thread)
To move Hamilton from the ECHL to the AHL you can use the Pre Game Editor
http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =88&t=6745
Open the Editor, load the database you want to edit, and then on the Clubs tab you'll be able to swap Division/Other Division/Last Division...swap the Hamilton Bulldogs with one of the AHL teams and you'll have Hamilton in the AHL
Tirael8112 wrote:PS: Me too my game crash when I load the canadian junior
If you're using the CSD Patch, make sure you always select the earliest possible start date

Hey everyone!
I downloaded the most recent roster update (7.0) and made some slight rating adjustments in the pre-game editor.I tried to start a game but it wouldn't load up from the page where you select leagues (I selected NHL,AHL, ECHL, Canada). The loading meter went all the way through and only about 1/3 of the way the 2nd time and freezes every time I try to start the game.
Anyone have an idea as to what is causing the game to crash?

Usually crashes are caused by changing the number of teams in a league or renaming a team or league. Did you do anything like that?

Nope! All I did was change a few players' ratings. I also had some trouble saving the data and had to reassert the status of several staff members as non-players but that's about all I did

Yeah there are four non-players who seem to be missing their non-player data. I think I've fixed that now. However, this weekend I need to double-check that the non-player data hasn't got all mixed up (e.g. each non-player has the correct CA, PA, attributes, etc). Hopefully it's all ok, but I want to double-check a random sample this weekend to make sure it is all okay. I also want to try and find out what went wrong (I fear it may be the DB Optimisation function in the Updater - it certainly seems the obvious culprit but I don't know why because it has always worked fine in the past).
As for your crash, I'm not really sure what to suggest. If you only altered some ratings then all should be okay. I wonder if something didn't quite work when you repaired some of the non-players.

Very possible! I'll re-download and wait until the next version comes out to make my changes.
