No but it's likely that the new GM will want thier own coach.

Brian Burke said, that Dion Phaneuf will be their captain next year.

Yeah I heard Ron Wilson saying the same thing a few days ago. I have a sneaky suspicion that Wilson may not be the coach next year though.

Phaneuf captain?? He doesn't look like the kind of guy who got alot of leadership to me.

Anyway with the line-up the Leafs got who can be captain except him. I think the captain should be Kaberle but it means to me he will not be there next season.

Supposedly most of the team seems him (Phaneuf) as a leader already. So why not name him captain.

Phanuef should not be captain.

If the supposed is true, and most if not all of the team will look up to him in a leadership role, then pray tell why should he not be captain? Is he not Yashin enough?

I am just saying that he is still quite young(Crosby and Ovechkin are different) and he hasn't been with the team for a year yet. He hardley knows them. It should be an experienced player and somone who knows the team and everyone loves him. However, the leafs don't have anyone like that. They need another guy like Mats Sundin.

1. Zdeno Chara was named captain after signing with Boston.
2. Craig Rivet was named captain after being traded to Buffalo.
3. Vincent Lecavalier was named captain after his second season with the Lightning at the age of 19.
4. Steve Yzerman was named captain at age 21 after three seasons with the Red Wings.
I would love for the Leafs to find another Mats Sundin, and they will. But one difference in our opinions here is that I feel that a team captain, much like a manager or coach, isn't in their position to make friends or because they are everyone's buddy. The team captain takes on responsibilities aside from their own skills on the ice. And if Phaneuf demonstrates those responsibilities and vocal opinions towards himself, the coaches, and his teammates, then he definetly deserves consideration to be wearing the C.

I heard rumours that Princess Madeleine has new boyfriend: Henrik Lundqvist

If it's true, Lundqvist will become real King Henrik some day

Ok the exemple of Rivet and Chara are ok.
Lecavalier to me, was just a big mistake at Tampa who were thinking they got the new Gretzky or something. But please you can't compare Yzerman to that. He was just too good, even if he was a Wing.

This is
regular season thread and Lundqvist plays in NHL, so why don't to put it there. And i think it's much better to put it there without making new thread or something.

I don't get how the draft "lottery" works
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cYYePD4xqs
How was this lottery determined? To me, this looks like someone opening envelopes with Team's names already in them...

That's for the presentation. From my understanding the lottery is held earlier, they put the results in the envelope and reveal them that on TV.

Oh i see, thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression that they would show the lottery, with the teams being picked live on air. As to not make it looked rigged...

It does seem rigged, doesn't it?

As I was hoping Bryzgalov been nominated for the Vezina! The others are that darn Brodeur and Ryan Miller. The battle will be tight, the 3 have offer outstanding performances this season.

Miller will win it beacuse he is hero of all Americans

.......and Brodeur became the #1 goalie of all time in most of the categories and Brygalov brought the Yotes in the playoff by himself. It's not the US people who vote. But that stupid Bettman can do it just to please the Americans.

They wouldn't give Edmonton and Boston the top two picks if it was rigged. If I'm not mistaken there's a representative of each club in attendance at the actual lottery.

If the draft lottery is anything, it's anti-climatic.
Stay tuned for the drama, here's the percentage odds that each team has. Here's plenty of details and speculation over what teams can shift to which draft positions.
Are you ready? Here we go, the drama unfolds as.....
Everything stays exactly the same!

Oh, I know. I'm just saying that it doesn't give the fans a good feeling to not see the drawing itself. It seems shady to have a lottery but only show the results.
You're right though, if it were rigged, Columbus or Florida would have won it. Either that or they would've figured out a way to give the #1 pick to Pittsburgh or Washington. Or maybe Phoenix.

Finally Lidstrom isn't nominated this year for the Norris! Doughty, Green and Keith. I really hope that Drew Doughty gonna win it, what a revelation this year!
