Thanks Batdad, with the way you post, I could only imagine how entertaining your Brule story was! ;)

I'm definitely going to keep going, it's much more fun this way, usually I go through a season or two a night, I'm only on game 4 now!

If there's anything anyone would like to read, let me know. I'm going to try and incorporate more as I go, first season might not be as exciting. I don't much care for any of the players just yet.

What database do you use?

Older version of UUDB that I've played around with for awhile.

Perfectly honest? Just haven't. I did some research and I'm using the 5.0 DB, made some of my own edits and just like the familiarity of it. Still haven't made it past a few seasons with it.

I'm slowly making my own pseudo-fictonal DB, based around real players with a hint of my own added in. Created a new WHA with 33 teams, based all over the world that'll compete with the NHL (not really, but I hate seeing 1000 FA's every year just sitting)

Created some "beer" leagues for scouting for the lower leagues, I love creating goon teams in the CHL/ECHL/UHL.

I'll probably end up checking it out after a few more versions are released and you've really made it your own though, no disrespect to Manimal but I don't enjoy the newer rosters as much (personal reasons in game) Besides, Luc is still in it.

Ok, you stated enough reasons. :-D

batdad wrote:Decent start. I do not often read them all, because it is usually a bunch of boring stats. Get exciting and interesting into personalities on the team and your GM. Photos show stats. All you have to do is screen shot one once in awhile. Some guys just post wins losses stats...boring.

Spice things up with stories about prospects who party (I always did when someone widdled me off by playing poorly etc)....

Anyone remember my Gilbert Brule-Alexandre Picard stories from Columbus challenge extended way back when. If it is still posted you could take a look to see what I like. Bah...just checked..it is long gone. It was one of the earliest blogs way back in 2008 or 9. Likely lost around the time the site was changed over to this place.
I'm curious about this :) We've had Alexandre playing over here in Geneva for the past three seasons. He's a crowd favourite, but as a player often finds himself the fifth foreigner (only four can skate per game).

It was back way back...when PIcard and BRule were still big prospects. I believe they had been drafted the year before EHM 07 came out. No idea where any of the information from that game is. You may want to scroll through all the blogs because I think if it is anywhere it is there. But think gone.

They were from back in 2006 if I go by the challenges. We lost all blogs from prior to 2011 when moving server or whatever it was we did

Yeah that is what I Thought.

If I recall right Picard ended up ticking me off, and I was doing my egocentric jerkwad impression of me as the GM. :-D :-D

But just for fun I found something. I believe these numbers were from season 5 after the challenge had ended. Insanity for some of those guys when you think about their actual careers. Goes to show how much people talk about prospects in real life, and how they really turn out. Cause these guys #s were all based on their projections by our guys doing rosters etc. and those projections were based on real life reports on the players

Yup, spend one day on HFBoards and you think a 2nd rounder is a sure thing and a 1st rounder will always be a star :)

WHat is scary about that the most to me. Nitty and Svitov had been toned down. The original Svitov could have been in that 100 point range as well as those other guys

I've started an EHM EA story focusing on the career of a player that I created. You can follow it here:

Both the Finnish and the English version is well-written in my opinion. I remember from your previous stories that you tend to add in much detail, and not once has it seemed immersion-breaking, clumsy or unrealistic. Have you ever tried writing more "serious" fiction?

Thanks for the feedback. It's encouraging to know someone is reading. Otherwise I might just as well ramble on my own. :-D

I do aspire to become a writer and write daily. And I have published an e-book, and am working on another. :-)

This was a fun read, I hope you won't stop after a couple of ''chapters'', I would love to see how the story pans out

I'm definitively going to keep at it. It's fun to write too, when you don't know where we'll end up. :-)

Sainio getting the visa in just one day is certainly interesting. :D
You did a good job with describing the Trio Areena vicinity, although there are not any tower-blocks in the immediate surroundings of the rink. The story sped up maybe too much after the training camp. You could have described how Sainio gradually gets used to the Mestis routine, and maybe reveal what kind of role he adapted in the locker room.

I know what you mean, but I've decided, if there's nothing worthwhile happening in the simulation, I'll just rush through it. I'm not going to take the pressure of making this perfect, or give too much thought on how it would be structured ideally, because this is my "day off" from serious writing. With this story I just write for fun. I don't want to get too deep into it, it has to be stress free -- I get enough head scratching from my primary writing project. I figured the training camp would be the most important part of 2015-16. Everything else was "just another day at the office". This way I'll also be able to progress a lot faster, and maybe we'll get to the end of Toni's career, unlike with the previous attempt at EHMFinland and EHM 07. ;)

I use Google Earth to "look around", and to me it looks like there are apartment buildings there. :dunno:

I don't know what the rules are regarding work visas, but if you payed attention, you would've noticed the possibility of training camp was mentioned at the beginning. When he gets the phone call the decision is finalized. So he might've applied for it some time ago, or even when he was first drafted. Also, like I said, I'm not going to take any pressure of getting everything spot on with this story. I'm not a professional hockey player. I don't know it all. I just use a bit of google and assume the rest, and go from there.

Yes. I've finished the Finnish version of Season Four, and will now begin working on the translation.

It's taking a while, because Season Four turned out a bit more eventful than the earlier seasons. :-)

I have a feeling there are quite a few readers, because let's face it, your narrative is interesting.
