I finally got a couple of games into the season. Off to a good start - a 5-3 win against Nashville (Kahbby in net) and a 5-1 beating of the Jackets with Lalime in net. I have Patty as a Group C core player, so he'll be splitting time with Khabby half and half no matter who plays better. I'm still looking for the right dance partner to move Khabby. Might come before 20 games....if not, I have to shed $965,000 elsewhere. I'm at 36.965 mil. :)

*EDIT*

I just dealt Khabby, 16 games into the season. Washington was the only team who would take him - I got Fata and Mike Green back. So now Washington have Kolzig (NTC) and Khabby's untradeable 6.75 mil. :dunno: Now I need to accept one of the deals I have in place for a capable G to share the load with Lalime...

I've had an atrocious start into the new season. 0-3 on both teams. Now I'm at 8-4-4, I'd need to win the next 4 to achieve at least a somewhat acceptable result.
Blake has scored one goal in 12 games so far.

Blog's Up

First time I've tried this, be gentle.

Bonus points to anyone who can correctly identify the origin of my NHL GM. All self-respecting hockey fanatics should know the AHL manager.

You're AHL is from slapshot, obviously. Your NHL GM if I am following the pattern correctly is from Real Genius the 1985 movie. (I work at a video store what can I say)

Like I said, Reg Dunlap should be a no brainer. But Lazlo is a bit more obscure. YOU GET 1 ATTA-BOY!! :1st:

 Good call thunderbug! When I first saw the screenshot, the only Lazlo I could think of was Real Genius but figured that couldn't be him. I couldn't find a connection between him and the Newman's character from Slapshot (or if I was even supposed to). Nice job!

So do we share Toledo with the deadthings or are they just trying to take all my prospects spots in Toledo

Why you hatin' on the Wings man?! But anyway, it's a shared affiliation. But I have rarely ever been able to assign players to the ECHL due to the roster restrictions. ECHL teams can only have 1 or 2 spare parts on the roster and they always fill out a complete roster (unlike in EHM 2005 where some ECHL teams would ice only half a team). It was fun playing in the E in 2005. Just having a full complement of players put you miles ahead of the rest of the league. But back on topic. IMO this is a wasted affiliation since you can't actually get players to that team unless you just happen to catch them with a spot open, which is exceedingly rare.

Yeah, I was able to assign one player to Toledo in November or December. I think I just happened to luck out and hit the right timing. I didn't even send a guy down there for development, it was mostly just to get him off my Norfolk roster.

When we were testing the new challenge rules, I was playing using the Blue Jackets. I had much better luck sending players down to their ECHL affiliate. I think it just depends on the team.

Man oh, man... Finally I have been able to sit down and start to work in my team... Started with signing Pat Burns as coach and Pat Quinn as his assistant. Will soon release my core players and line-up!

This was a WOEFULLY one-sided affair. In case anyone is wondering, that is 6-4 233# Chris Dingman and 5-9 154# Steve Sullivan. Personally, Dinger got the extra 12 minutes simply because Sullivan is a puny little NANCY BOY!!! Or maybe 'cause Dinger jump him on the opening faceoff. :dunno:

LOL! That's a seriously lopsided fight!

Too bad about Sharp. Make sure to save that screenshot of his injury and post it with your other screenshots at the end of the season so you can show why he didn't meet his minimum games for the season (if he doesn't meet them anyway).

Just a quick note from CatchUp to all the Challenge participants. Keep in mind I say ALL the Challenge participants and I'm not singling anybody out with this post. Mods too...batdad... :-p

The Mods and Admins here at TBL really frown upon cheaters. It's been said before - it's in the rules - but I'd like to remind everyone that we reserve the right to ask for anything - from screenshots from the game, to the entire save game file - if we suspect a participant might not be following the rules. :minty:

Also, if you suspect that another Challenge participant is breaking the rules, you should PM a Mod or Admin with your concerns. NEVER should you post accusations of cheating in the forums. That's entirely not cool. 8-)

Unfortunetly, EHM is easy to 'cheat' at. The spirit of these Challenges is to make the simulation more like real life - and less like a simulation. ;) It's easy to build a super team - we've all done it before and won our fair share of Cups and awards. What we're looking for here is some honest, friendly competition; within the TBL rules - which we feel make things a little more 'Challenging'. 8-) If that's what you're looking for, great! But as I mentioned above, we frown upon cheaters. :-x And we have ways to catch you....:ninja:

So, sorry for that unpleasantness - [patrick stewart] That is all. [/patrick stewart]

I already posted it above. Should I just hold onto them until the end and wait to see if anyone misses their mark? Another question: How do suspensions count (i.e. do we need a SS) toward the games played requirement? I had Havalt suspended for 2 for a really bad penalty. Hope it doesn't become an issue, but want to make sure the little bugger doesn't shaft me in the end. No pun intended

Most suspensions are only for a game or two. I don't really think you could use that as a reason for missing your games played requirement. In the first season Group A is only required to play 55 games. The only way I could see suspensions factoring into that is if you had a long term suspension, several shorter ones, or had a couple in conjunction with injuries. For the most part though, suspensions won't matter.

As for the screenshots of injuries, I think it's best if you save them and post them with your stats screenshot (that shows games played) at the end of the season. I say that because if you post them in this thread we have to dig though several pages to find the screenshot in question to verify it. If it's kept with the stats post, it's easy to check.

Jeez, I wonder how people get records of 14/15+ wins here. I had a hard time to get to 10 this time. ](*,)
Next set of games got to be better

I hear ya! I got 12 wins last time around. So far my second set of 20 games is looking a bit better but it's been a struggle. I go through hot and cold spells. After leaning on Lalime for the majority of the games so far, he's starting to come back down to earth. Looks like I've got to cross my fingers and hope Boucher can win some games. My other problem has been injuries. I haven't hit any major ones but I lose guys for anywhere between a few days and 10 days.

Hi all. I am re-starting and joining the challenge once more. Sorry for my mistakes last time, and thanks to the Mods for letting me re-enter.
My team looks like this as of right now, but I am still working on some deals:

N/Ms: Emery, Lalime

D Pairings:
1. Hannan + Aucoin
2. D. Keith + Visnovsky
3. Barker + Seabrook

Forward Lines:
1. Heatley + Drury + Ruutu
2. Vanek + A. McDonald + Tucker
3. P. Eaves + Sharp + Vrbata
4. Holmqvist + Bolland + Blunden

In the AHL I have got Ed Belfour as my starting goalie, but unfortunately he has to clear re-entry waivers if he gets called back up. So far my team has played 8 games, is second in the conference, won 6, lost 1 and lost one in OT. If any of the Mods want to check my transactions screenshots let me know and I'll upload them.

I didn't know else to post this, but since it's from my Challenge team, I figured here....

It's January 16th in game and the Canucks are in 10th place - 2 points out. They just dealt Sami Salo and Brendan Morrison to the Caps for Jeff Schultz. I don't have time to post a 'shot right now, but maybe I'll come back and edit this later tonight....but look him up in your game.

20 year LD.

Yeah my team is quite streaky as well. Finished the 2nd set of games with a very solid record of 14-3-3 but the third is already a disaster again.
Oh well I almost traded Wes Walz for Paul Stastny :p

Heh, Schultz, he's on the Kings in my game. Seems Caps don't like him :p

You were giving or getting Stastny? I could maybe see Yan Stastny going for Walz but not Paul!

It's funny about Schultz. I've tried for him in past games (usually early in the first season) and the Caps never have an interest in getting rid of him. I'll have to try getting him later sometime.

I could've had Paul Stastny for Walz and a 3rd. But I didn't really need him, got enough top 6 forwards, current and future ones.
