All that about sensationalism, liberalism...that is fine. But...you have a team executive (yes unnamed)...saying his is an expletive selfish expletive.
It is amazing how when some Canuck fans defend their players Boston and Chicago fans rip them a new one...I love the dynamic. But when anyone dares write or say anything about a Bruin..the defense is rampant. It reeks of the stuff that goes on in politics with Rampant nationalism, I mean reeks. It never ceases to amaze me how blind people can be about the faults of their own team, system, friends...etc.
What Thomas did is stupid and selfish...Boston and their fans can defend it to the nth degree all they want. Fact remains...if it was any player on any other team Bruin fans would be all over it. And yeah...Jacobs is widdled I bet at Timmeh. . I love the dynamics of sports fandom. People become absolute morons and don't call spades spades when they are.
Just admit it gang...Thomas is an idiot. Plain and simple...selfish idiot.

(I love his spelling and capitalization in his facebook message too! GENIUS!
Edited because I hit a button and deleted a bunch of stuff and then had to do it over again.
If a Bruin shot a Canuck, Boston fans would laugh. If a Canuck shot a Bruin though....wow.

I guess only time will tell with regards to Thomas' future. Let's see whether he gets a new contract...
As for not attending the White House, IMHO he should have gone. I'm all for freedom of speech, but attending the White House with your team mates doesn't mean in any way you're endorsing any particular politics or views. Most people have to do things in their job that they don't like but you just get on with it. Just because you're a millionaire star goaltender for one of the best teams in the world doesn't exempt you. I really do like Thomas but I just think it's more important to stand united with your team rather than make some sort of "statement" by not attending (and with the inevitable negative press gossip that entails).
That aside, I really do hope he sticks with the Bruins. Having Thomas and Rask in net is such a big strength for the team - and having two very reliable goalies is a key to winning the Playoffs.

Once again batdad hit the nail on the head. To see it in spades just check out the comments under the game write-ups on TSN

Also EHM's favourite golaie Niittymaki has been placed on waivers by the Sharks. I don't think he will clear them.

I certainly lost a lot of respect and sympathy for Thomas. I was aware of his stupid political views before, but that's none of my business, to me his job is to stop pucks and that's what I was gonna judge him for. Two problems now though, first of all, if you're that concerned about the direction your country is heading and about the state of the economy how about not appearing in commercials for banks... and the statement seems a bunch of horsecrap. It's a team event, you're obligated to attend it, it's in the CBA and every player contract, asking the GM not to go just because you wanna take a political stand is stupid. Timmeh being a baby. Again, his political views are his business, but if you're going public with it the way he did in order to skip team events based on his individual beliefs deal with the backlash. What if Ference now goes up to Chiarelli and says "hey boss can I stop hitting guys please, I'm a pacifist after all, please respect my beliefs".
I don't think the team cares, and I'd certainly take the Boston media stand on this with a grain of salt, remember the alleged drama about Ference calling out Paille in public or the alleged rift between Ference and Recchi over Paul Kelly's last season ? What came from that ? Oh right, a cup win mainly based on team spirit and standing up for each other. Management is certainly widdled though. Will he get another contract from the Bruins ? Who knows, he's going to be 40 when his current deal is up anyway, would've been a more interesting topic of conversation if he was in his early 30s. Seems like a good excuse for Chiarelli not to extend him though.
Lots of Bruins fans not happy with his decision I can tell you that.
On a lighter note, the TBL mascot has been fired, well, the person behind it

, for getting into a fight with a Bruins fan at the game a week ago

Ference is not a pacifist. He is a pugilist with environmentalist and vegan tendencies. Oh wait.....
TBL has a mascot?

The Habs are doing right now what they can do the best. Being good against the stongest teams, they lead 6-0 at the end of the second against Detroit!

Can I hear some Habs fan talking about the Cup this year?

Montreal? What is this Montreal you speak of? French speaking? Oh now I get it...the team that we all call "Les Champions" "La Club du Philou" and "Les Smurfs".
Oh yeah..that reminds me I need to unload La Sergei Kostitsyn and La Rene Bourque dans la pool du hockey.

Meh...same guy.

But yeah.
I really want someone to do a Montreal logo with a P in the middle and not an H, and then put it as Philou's avatar. But I am pushing my luck and he will get angry with me.

Well that would be funny but I'll do the same thing that I've done with the Habs shirt. After a couple of days I'll be bored.

Wow what a game by Sam Gagner! 8 points!

That's probably the game of his life. Gagner is such a deception for me since eh started his career in the NHL, thought he would be better than this. At least he's gonna have that evening as a great souvenir.

Nothing like sharing a record with Gretzky eh? And only 2 points away from Sittler's record of 10.

Gagner can play...he has just had some unfortunate injuries that set him back. He is going to look good if the Oilers keep him in behind Nugent Hopkins as a #2 guy.

Sharks and Owen Nolan call press conference:

Jersey retirment? Symbolic sign and retire? (like what Dallas did with Modano)
