If you install the 90's facepack..... some of these mugshots are so incredibly 90's. It's truly amazing.

It's absolutely great to have this updated for EHM 1, thanks a lot for all your hard work!
One question: What's the reasoning behind including the salary floor and cap?

Hey just wondering if Luc Bourdon could be added?
It was saddening when I couldn't find him in the database.

I am wondering about the Winnipeg Jets in the database. They currently have no arena and their city is unknown. Is there any way to fix it?

Been running a sim, currently at July 2013
Lots of fun things have happened, also there are unknowns that have a chance at becoming great players(but the known busts *cough* Patrick Stefan *cough* bust and bust HARD) I'll post some interesting history here if people are interested

alright about to give this a try for the 1st time, but got a few questions
1-does the cap go up by year or stays the same? or do you guys changed it with a utility?
2-can someone send me the photo back for 1998 at
stephpa10@msn.com the ones that are linked don't work, as all the current players, that would be appreciated
3-i show 30 teams in the NHL but only 27 in the AHL is this correct?

I have a couple of comments on the staff. It seems like every coach/assistant coach has a 'motivating' attribute that's less than 4. Very few of them are green in man management as well.
Another comment is that there are 3 total physios with a physiotherapy attribute that is 20. The ones I could find that would sign with me have physio attributes of 15-16. Is this intentional?
Lastly, there are very few scouts who have JPP and JPA in bright green. I actually like this change, because in other rosters, there seemed to be too many scouts that knew exactly how players projected. Just making sure this is intentional as well.
Thanks for your work!

Things I've noticed:
-Head Coaches are lacking in terms of skills(LOTS OF RATINGS Below 10), Head Coaches move up to GM position, but there aren't many A.Coaches that are up to snuff for Head Coaching. Assitant coaches are ok...not a lot of 17+ in the C.Fwd/C.Def/C.G attributes
- Scouting is fine(I have 77 pages worth of scouts to work with. Majority of the NHL Level scouts are 15+ in at least one of the key ratings
-
Overall REally awesome DB! Love seeing the difference between this and the real world. Seeing stars from the pasts bust and no names turn into stars is pretty neat

This DB is the best thing since sliced bread, its not just names and Dates but a nearly perfectly balanced new world that gives EHm a whole new Level of fun and realism. This DB is so good it actually makes the game in itself work better by doing the little things like level of talent with players and especially staff on a perfectly balanced and competitve level . Gone are the times when you had a perfect staff memebr in every category, while still theres enough around to not starve ut have to compete. Opposed to recent complaints the scoring especially for the timeline also seems perfect. Everything just seems so balanced and real it gav eme back joy for the game again, and when i comare it to my save with the modern DB its so much more fun because the Players seem more unique in their skillset. Ist not perfect but darn close to it. Thanks for everyone involved and it would really be a big loss if Nino abandoned work , but it would be definately leaving on the absolute pinnacle of his work. I think seeing this work its a huge loss for the community. Seeing his recent posts and really feeling his stress it really might be the best for him , this is legendary but not worth risking ones health, and i think he really needs time for himself to maybe come back later better than ever, This already is such a legacy , one to be proud of truly as it is.

Sorry i know i cant find the right words to really Show how much i appreciate this DB and how blown away i was how good it really is. The few tweaks in the new patch and this awesoem work made EHM so much fun again and move it closer to perfection. The few shortcomings it still has only show because of the Overall Quality that makes perfection nearly seem reachable. Really love how overworked trade AI and the lovely balanced DB Play Hand in Hand to make this the best EHM experience ever. Just imagine this with actually the last atm not to overcome shortcomings like the too many teams in the league for that time etc solved...but no...it is awesome and something to be so grateful for as it is.
Just to nitpick becuas eyou always can

somehow goalie Talent seems to be a little of abundance , i dont know if it is just correct for the time, but i get top golaies like Hebert , Snow etc waived all over the place, maybe ist just a code thign where AI just doesnt value what they bring in comparison to their salary ,but maybe there woudl be a way to deal with it by downgrading overall talent a bit , but what do I know...surely nothing that ruins this awesoem experienc ein any way...but as i said when you are so Close to perfection you maybe encourage nitpicking a bit even

1. It's not possible to have a cap that rises. The cap is located in "transfer_rules_config" within the database folder. I have the CAP set at zero, which should erase the cap but somehow there's a cap in-game still?!
3. We can't change the amount of teams in a league. So we had to improvise and make other affiliates for a few NHL teams (as there was only 27 NHL team at the time also). We had to add WIN, MIN and CBJ for this to work.

I noticed the SJ 2nd rounder to DET was there in 2000 draft. But I changed it to 1999 now.

(glad I noticed it so the wouldn't lose to 2nds)
As the game starts in the game by default September the 3rd. That's the date we look at (when looking at trades and who belong to who)
Asher413 wrote:The Chris Terreri deal (August 25, 1998) has him on New Jersey, but Chicago should have received a 2nd rounder in '99 (it was conditional at trade time, not sure what your policy was on that).
We just have to settle on something. Isn't 63rd pick a third round?

For the salary cap and floor, the transfer_rules_config needs to say "SALARY_CAP" instead of just "CAP" for it to work. Same with "FLOOR." This way if you set it to zero you can get rid of the cap/floor.
I only loaded the database and looked around for 10 minutes, but it seems both Brian Burke and Marc Crawford are missing? Burke should be the Canucks GM and Crawford should be a free agent (he was on HNIC at the start of the season).
There also seem to be a few random mistakes in the staff list. Someone names "Wally xxx"? And "Carlo a"?
Also in the player list: "Bastian 1" and "Kai 1".
This is a phenomenal work you guys did. Thank you so much!
EDIT: A few more minor mistakes:
SJS have two instances of Greg Jamison as President. Larry Pleau is both President and General Manager of STL(not sure if intentional).

OMG!

I have no idea where this .cfg has come from and why it's different (maybe it was like that before?!). But thanks I will fix that for the next release.
And those who reads this can change it themselves. (requires a new save though)
I'll add those two.
Those weird names I'm aware about. The game can create players with last name's like "1" and "a" etc. I'm trying to find out how to remove those names from the name generator/database.
We haven't had the time required to take a closer look at the staff YET.

Happy to help. I just changed the config, and yeah, it works fine. Have to re-import the database thought.
I am going to play as the Wings for a little while and let you know if anything funny comes up. I do not have a ton of time to do research, but if you need help looking into something specific, like staff for a specific team or something, shoot me a PM. This is really a great project and I am so glad it got done. (Now if only we had a better 2006 database...)

First make sure nobody in the db has those names. Then in the pre-game editor, click on tools and "allow editing of Forenames/Surnames" and then edit the namesets to something more generic like Smith (depending on nationality of the name) AFAIK, we cannot remove forenames/surnames.

Great to hear, it give me a better chance as a Penguins fan to try and stop the financially motivated destruction of the team that started in '98

I did not find any other draft related errors! As has been said before (as someone who still hasn't finished the NHL in 4 years on a 1972 DB...) this is a lot of work and I for one appreciate it, and hope I can help make it better.

Back in the 90's, teams received extra picks for lost free agents or not signing draft picks. In '99, the first pick of the 3rd round was #67 because of that. It's actually quite the list of players that garnered extra 2nd rounders that year: Nick Boyton, Hull, CuJo, Gilmour, Zultek, Richter, Francis, Krupp and Steve Duchesene.

I asked archie about that already. He gave me the the same answer.

I'll have to edit all those weird names in the database though. There's two with the last name of "1" and then a few "aaaa"

That's interesting, I didn't know/remember that.

Well it makes sense that they removed that rule then. You could tactically get rid of a non-wanted player and get a 2nd round pick?!

Yeah I started with Winnipeg a season (changed their name though just for the fun of it). I'm soon starting season 2. I signed J.Nieuwendyk, M.Peca, M.Schneider and a lot European players..

Drafted as 2nd and picked Daniel Sedin. I think I got 8 wins the first season?!
