Not entirely, I'd say Panthers but don't believe it's black and white. Schultz is noticeably better than Ekblad right now and of course more experienced - the Panthers are throwing it all in this year so it makes sense to trade for someone who is better now, and he's not exactly old.

The flip side is they've "potentially" given up a great (probably better) player. Maybe I'm overestimating Ekblad, maybe he's basically just as good but 5 years younger - great for the Oilers in a few years but they are chasing the playoffs now! They probably needed Schultz as much as the Panthers and look like falling out of the playoffs now (they've made it the last 2 years I believe).

If that's the case then Schultz is severely overrated in the game, Ekblad is atleast twice the player Schultz is :P

Which Schultz?
Close to the deadline, I suppose yes.

It just looked lopsided to me at first glance. Also the Jets are at the bottom of the West standings which somewhat explains it? Wanting goaltending help now, and for the future yet they sacrificed TWO young and developing players. Idk, to me it makes sense, but at the same time doesn't. LOL

I had Ekblad in my game. He didn't play up to his reputation and ratings, I ended up moving him for Jake Gardiner in a straight swap. So it isn't out of the realm of possibilities that he was moved for a more developed blueliner.

Hmm.. AI makes a strange trade...

31.8.2017
Wild:
The rights to Nico Hischier (2017 1st round #1 draft)
The 2018 3rd round pick

Maple Leafs:
The rights to Garret Sparks, 24 years old backup goaltender (at the max) 3 games played in NHL and 5.67 rating!!

Absolutely it is not perfect for sure. However Kuemper is not exactly a grizzled veteran either is he?

But yes, trade AI is a work in progress. It is much better now than it was in 2007 or at the start of the EA period. Still a little ways to go, as there are with quite a few things. Seeing gradual improvement and am very pleased with that.

Definitely an AI issue. Every time I draft someone in the first round I get inundated with offers... Of two low round picks. I mean come on I just used a first to draft the guy I'm hardly giving him up for a 5th and 7th!

I proposed a trade to Anaheim as Philly

To Anaheim:
2015 1st round pick

To Philadelphia:
Dany Heatley

"Trade rejected"

Now I know Heater is an all star and all (50 in '07) but this trade probably would go through irl...

It's a bit bizarre.
I've just seen the AI offload franchise goaltender Quick for the rights to a 3-4/limited D, rights to a 3rd line LW, a 4th pick and a 5th pick. :-?

You're joking, right? Heatley is an AHL player

Well, I mean, it's not a realistic trade at all, I just wanted Heatley because of his twitter personality (#50in07) but It was wierd how I couldn't get him for a 1st round pick, he's been moved irl from waivers, and 2nd,3rd round picks, so I should be able to get him for a 1st

Maybe there's coding that stops the AI from making completely unrealistic deals and maybe it's being applied to human manager offers too?

That would be great nino. Stops the trading for Ovenchicken with 500 12th round picks

Have not had many complaints about the trade AI until this trade.

Dallas has made Alex Hemsky available. They value him at 3 stars. I try and trade him for Trevor Smith who they also value at 3 stars and they accept.

Hemsky is 32 making 4 million for the next 2 years and had 44 goals 38 assists for 82 points in 82 games with a rating of 7.63

Smith is 30 making $980,000 for the next year. In 22 games had 4 assists and a -7 with a rating of 6.27

As of Aug. 20th 2015 Dallas is still 3.5 million under the cap with Hemsky so there are no issues with their cap. This is just about the worst trade i've come across. So bad in fact that i felt bad that i would be robbing them blind and cancelled the trade.

On the other hand if they made a guy available they're kind of ready to accept unfavorable trades. I think it should be more of a concern WHY he has been made available.

You're right, while it is a problem he was made available, in real life it can happen if a team and player have a falling out for whatever reason. When that happens in real life though the trade is never that one sided. It's not like Dallas is rebuilding either and even if they were it's still a horrible to trade a 1st/2nd line RW (in this game) for a guy who is at best a 4th line/AHL'er

How are Hemsky's attributes looking? What year is this? Because he declines fairly quickly and IMHO somewhat early in my games,...and becomes NOT worth the 3.5 they have to pay him very early on.

This is the first season. Honestly looking at Hemsky's attributes they don't look like anything special and i know that he does decline quickly in this game but i wasn't sure after how many seasons does his stats really drop. The trade is still horrendous though. An under the cap team trading their leading goal scorer for a 4 line/ahl scrub doesn't make a lot of sense.

Maybe, maybe Dallas sees something in the other player that you do not.

LOL. Ai has gone insane.....

I now see issues...

Deals i tried for fun that went through.

Tom Sestito for a 2nd round pick (Phoenix)
THat 2nd round pick to Philly for Brayden Schenn

Nino Neidereiter to Vancouver for Zack Kassian and a 4th
Jason Zucker to Vancouver for Brendan McMillan (yes straight up)
Eric Gelinas to Vancouver for Alexei Emelin and Linden Vey
Hakanpaa to Philly for a 1st and Andrew Johnston

This is all during training camp, save the Sestito/Schenn moves which were early in July

Canucks lineup

Conacher-Schenn-Neidereiter
Zucker-Bonino-Read
Bartschi-Horvat-Jensen
Stalberg-Lee-Jaskin
Pastrnak Goodrow

Stanton-Tanev
Gelinas-Clendenning
Connauton-Weber
Severson Corrado (One of those two)

Markstrom
Lack

Young and a whole lot better than last year I Bet. My top point getter and goal scorer are now on third line. LOL

Cam Fowler for 2 1st round picks (3rd and 6th) in essentially what was a naff draft (only 2 1st line potential players apparently, not that this seems to be remotely accurate).
Kucherov was available for a single 1st round pick but only while injured (for 8 months) - top rookie points scorer the year before and his stats didn't drop at all while injured. Could possibly have seen this as fair if his stats would have dropped.
Wennberg on the block.

Boone Jenner has been off playing in europe as well for 18 months before being re-signed. AI not looking great!

Yes 2016 draftees need to be worked on in the database, and are being worked on now. What everyone needs to remember (Those that are new and old timers alike) the TBL DB is

1. Volunteer researched--so done when guys have time.
2. Info on draftees 2 years in advance or further is hard to come by. There are general rankings, but not a ton of rankings. Also the 2016 draft is nowhere near what 2014 and 2015 are supposed to be. Big drops after the top 2-5 guys.
3. Boone Jenner--suffering from the same things as many younger players are...the fact that in EHM EA young players do not develop as fast as in EHM 2007. When you are 22-23 at game start and not a quick development---you end up losing your NHL job. Besides, Jenner is really just a 2nd line guy on a bad team. If Columbus becomes a good team it will be because guys like Jenner Atkinson and Calvert are playing 3rd line

4. Stats tend not to drop much while injured in EHM EA, as compared to EHM 2007 (still did not drop all that much) but this is a good thing to me for now, as the development of players human GMs have is sooooo slow....need to find a middle ground between EHM EA slow development and EHM2007 rapid developement. Somewhere in the middle, maybe a little close to the level of EHM EA than 2007 for most. For some of course top liners, the development should be a little past the mid point between the two.

5. Wennberg on the block....guess they have a lot of good wingers. But yeah EHM EA needs some more tweaking on AI and trading etc.

Think it was the 2017 draft that was the worst so far - don't get me wrong though I'm not criticising the quality as I know there will be bad years, just that it was massively worth me giving up even a 6th overall pick for something good elsewhere and the AI probably can't be designed to analyse the draft pick value that well. Heck I nearly gave up my 3rd as well but thought I'd give a "potential 5-6" D a chance - which I'm glad I did as he's already jumped to a 1-2 although some of his mental stats are awful (still not convinced on the scouting in this game, that's a huge change of opinion for 4 scouts in a matter of weeks).

I don't remember much of 2007, think I only had a demo, the development does need a slight tweak, what I don't get is why the AI manages ok(except my own AHL team)? Surely they don't get an AI boost so there must be something in my schedules?

I'd have to check who else they had to give up Wennberg, don't think they had anything great though!
