And the NHL Draft results are in...
Rogalski 2nd round 55th overall - Carolina Hurricanes
Chiarlitti 3rd round 77th overall - NY Islanders
Oh and for those curious about how things played out at the top of the draft...
Atlanta had the #1 overall pick and took Taylor Hall
Boston had the #2 overall pick and took Tyler Seguin
Edmonton had the #3 overall pick and took Fowler.
Boston taking Seguin... is that an omen?

Season 4 is rolling right along. We are one of the dominant forces in the OHL and have been in the top 10 for the CHL for most of season, the last few weeks we've been in the top 5.
Schell and Ritchie continue to lead the team in scoring, and have seperated themselves from the rest of teh team point wise. What I am suprised about is the depth on the team. I can pretty much slot any of my 'extras' in the lineup and they will more times than not have a good game. This has really worked out well when I've had injury/suspension issues or during the World Junoirs when Schell (US), Ritchie (CAN) and Cizek (CZE). Elsborg was also playing for Denmark, but they are still in Div. I so his games were done by the time the others played thiers.
The Midseason Rankings came out and there limited change.
Schell dropped from 4th to 6th, but he's been picking his play up so he may go back up by the time the final rankings come out.
Cizek dropped from 12 to 13th but again I expect him to move up by seasons end.
Goodwin dropped from 50th to 56th.
Brody Pearce as expected went up from 163rd to 158th, jumping Ian Hayes in the process.
Ian Hayes dropped from 146th to 161st he didn't start the season on my team but has been playing well enough that he is now on the team regularly.
And we have qualified for the playoffs. On Feb 10th! So at this point my goal is to get both all three trophies, The Hamilton Spectator for best regular season, the J Ross Robertson Cup and the Mem. Cup. Here's hoping.

Wow it only took me two seasons to win the first cup, that was unexpected after a terrible start to the season.
The only award went to Ritchie who won the goal scoring title and was drafted 7th (ranked 11) overall by the Ducks. Campbell was drafted 80th (ranked 122) overall by the Oilers.
I think my worries about the team needing to be strengthed were unfounded... The second draft was just insane and I drafted all the 15(+2) players available to me - 2 G, 3 LD, 2 RD, 4 LW, 2 C, and 4 RW. As long as I can keep the depth chart reasonably balanced there shouldn't be any shortage of talent going forward.
Notable draftees who are likely to make the team this year is a new backup(?) goaltender (1st round import), a new #1 RD (5th round), a new #1 LW (2nd round) and a new depth RW (4th round). The others are likely to start the season in the GOJHL but we'll see what happens in camp. My biggest concern is that right now the second line is identical to last year when they weren't great but hopefully a year of experience will show some improvement. We also didn't add any PK centerman, maybe we'll just have to forget about winning faceoffs and go for shot blocking all the way. If that doesn't work out I always have the option of a trade.
My foreigners this season will be Preisinger and Tero Marttinen (goalie import). The overagers will be Rogalski, Drydak and Preisinger. I could have let Preisinger go and had room for my second import draft pick and another overager but he outperformed Zion in the playoffs so I decided to keep him on board.

So regular season 4 is done. We didn't have a great close to season as we dropped from 1st in the conference to 3rd. We just couldn't close out the games again. And we lost our number 1 goalie for 2 weeks. We lost 12 games in ot during the season and I'm scared to see how much better we would have been if we had won even only half of them.
Final rankings came out and there was once again very little change.
Schell and Cizek didn't move as they still rank 6th and 13th.
Goodwin dropped to 62, which doesn't surprise me as his injuries limited him to only 43 games this season.
Hayes is up to 137th which also doesn't suprise me, when I brought him up to the team he was a monster.
Pearce dropped one spot to 159th. I'm a little suprised he didn't go up any more as I thought he had the better season out of Pearce and Hayes.
Anyways our first round opponents were the Sault Greyhounds who we beat in 6 games. We didn't have number one goalie May available for the first three games. And after losing his first game back I thought I had made a mistake playing. But I stuck with him and he won the next two games. Now it looks like we will play Plymouth next.

Started my first season now and first 10 games is played.
I have had some hard time in this challenge because of my lack knowledge about CHL.
Anyways after looking at rosters.. still I can't say anything about the team. There seems to be some medicore players, but no stars etc.
Pre-season went well and I thought that I found great first line and starting goaldenter.. just my thought.](./images/smilies/wallbash.gif)
So far 10 games played and after good start we are falling down. 3-7-0 and currently I have 4 game losing streak.
Lines are atm:
Neal-Arniel-Kerbashian
Francisco-O'Quinn-Ritchie
Clark-Preisinger-Stoughton
Peters-Campagna/MacQueen-Hottot
Rogalski-Sullivan
Chiarlitti-Katic
Flemington/Broussard-Soucie
Cambell-Raymond/Phillips
In preseason I had 1st line like this Kerbash, Preisinger and Ritchie, but after I got Neal and Arniel in team I had to suffle my lines. 1st and 3rd lines are playing somewhat good now.. Neal, Arniel and Preisinger is going 1 point per game.
2nd and 4th lines are just terrible.
My defence lines is not stabil at all. I suprised how well Soucie played in first games. Best players so far are Katic and Sullivan in defence.
Cambell injured in his second game, but he has played well.. still I can't count on him.
I have to keep seeking lines and tactics and maybe toss away my finnish style coaching.

So season 4 is finished and we are into the first week of season 5 now. After disposing of the Greyhounds in 6 games we were swept by Plymouth. Who were then promptly swept by Kitchener. Kitchener won the OHL trophy losing only 3 games all post-season.
The draft went well and 5 of them have made the regular lineup.
5 players were drafted to the NHL in 2010 draft.
Ales Cizek was drafted 10th overall by the Islanders (ranked 13th)
Braydon Schell was drafted 15th overall by Colorado (ranked 6th)
Renaud Goodwin was drafted 79th overall (3rd round) by New Jersey (ranked 62nd)
Ian Hayes drafted 175th overall (6th round) by Nashville. (ranked 137th)
Brody Pearce drafted 180th overall (6th round) by the Rangers. (ranked 159th)
Brett Ritchie was signed by the Devils in the offseason and has yet to be reutrn to me. Interesting that he was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the first round and they released his rights. There were two NHL teams that offered him contracts but he chose to go with New Jersey.
In the OHL Season Preview we were ranked 2nd behind Windsor.
Atcheynum May is ranked as the 6th overall goalie.
Ales Cizek is ranked 2nd overall among D-Men and Eric Bauman (1st round 2010 OHL draft pick) is ranked 6th
Bryson Schell is the top LW in the OHL.
and Eric Bauman is the 8th ranked prospect.
Atcheynum May was ranked 70th for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

9 games into season 2. I was ranked 3rd last in the OHL. No one made top player in any position, or as prospect. Oops.
Anyway, off to a perfect start. 9-0. Preisinger has been great 16 points in the 9 games. Zion as well, and my defense is outstanding.
I have two 1st year kids in my lineup. Luie Gallant, who leads the team in goals from the blueline with 5. He was my 5th round pick.
And...the guy who was ranked #1, but slipped to me in the 4th round...Pat Marcoux. He has 3 goals and 2 assists in 7 games.
Draft Rankings for NHL...*(neither Chiarlitti or Rogalski got drafted last season)*
13 Ritchie
118 Campbell
176 Rogalski
192 Chiarlitti
My 20 year olds are Kerbashian, Peters and Sullivan. Sullivan has the "C"
Kerbash is out for 3 weeks right now. Painful loss. Fransisco started well but has tailed off big time. Stoughton is out as well with an injury. Rogalski suspended for a game, and Paat out for a few days hurt. May have to call up my super goon.

My nr2 ranking in the league is way gone after a 6 game loosing streak 28 games in. Windsor next so I guess it's a 7 game streak soon. My defensive tactics totally stopped working somehow?
The only good new is that my team destroyed Hall for 4 months some games ago, but somehow Windsor even played better without him.
At least I can pity the Ducks:

It's been a while since I've been on here...
However I think it might be time for me to throw my hat into the ring for the Sting.
What's cool about the Sting challenge is that two of my friends were drafted by them
Though they never retained their rights and Cheese (Jake Guindon) went to the BCHL and was since offered a contract by Cape Breton.

So I've just started.... NONE of the coaches would sign with me and I had one of my scouts jacked off of me. This is disappointing.
Otherwise Neal and Arniel were re-assigned and I expect Katic to be back.
1-1-0 so far. I anticipate a middle of the pack season.
Also - you never realize how stacked Windsor really is until they unload the scoring on you.
Hall, Fowler, Mitchell, Nemitz... it's just insane.

I've only seen old man Lou do that for the Devils.bruins72 wrote:So I'm playing my challenge game and I get a news item saying that...

So he just said "Okay! I give up!"?![]()
Usually you see these guys fired and not quit.

Though on occasion I've seen a coach or two do that.

As I reach the 51 game mark of season 2, the team has begun to slump a bit. Lost 4 of my last 8, mostly in OT. Kerbashian is slowing down, as are others. Marcoux continues to surprise and is doing well, as is the guy I traded for way back.
I dealt Donati to Brampton for Matt Macleod, a 1990 RW. Macleod started well, then slumped for a ton, but recently tried him on the PP and he started to score. He has 5 goals in his last 5 games. Not bad for a rookie.
Ritchie has been really weak this season, only has 10 goals in 49 games and only 2 of those are PP goals. He is really starting to aggravate me.
So...rankings for draft
Ritchie has dropped from 9 to 23
Campbell is up a bit to 119
Rogalsi is 181
Macleod in at 193
and Chiarlitti has dropped out of the rankings.
In other news my head coach Dave Andreychuk was offered the Owen Sound GM position and will likely take it. This means I want to promote Tony Amonte from assistant to head coach, but Tony will not listen to any contract offers. So I have another choice in the background as an assistant coach, but not nearly as good as Tony. We shall see. A bit frustrating, but I have been shocked Dave has been with me this long.
