Yeah, maybe 1.0.7 can connect to a 1.0.5 host but I doubt it'll work the other way round.

My thoughts exactly. Would be better with 1.0.7. though, I think it's more stable, but we'll see what happens and autosave often

I don't think it'll be a problem. One of you just have to host, and we'll join.

The problem is that I am always so busy (especially at the moment - I have exams on the 29th, 30th and 31st March :( ) - I would be a very unreliable player.

Having thought about it, I can't commit to this. It's a shame because I've always wanted to do something like this.

Sorry!

Everyone has to have teh same version of the game eg 1.07 to play a net game. I currently cannot commit to an online game as i am currently doing one at the moment. Perhaps in teh summer iI will have more time and may be ablt to play another one. Here i sthe link for the forum thread of my current net game.

As far as I know, version 1.0.7 can connect to a game hosted by version 1.0.5. We tried it with my friend and it works fine.

In the spirit of moving things forward:

- has anyone volunteered to host the game yet?
- which league will we be using?
- which roster set will we be using?
- will each GM need the same roster set - or will we play off the host?

Some other comments:

I won't be able to make every Saturday night but I'm thinking that perhaps we could hold an occaisonal session on a Friday or Sunday as well. I think if we set a goal of playing 2-3 sessions per month, that would be do-able for most people. Perhaps each session could be for two hours? Three hours?

I also read a comment about making MSN mandatory...is that for real? I am a non-MSN user. I would prefer using an IRC room. Another option would be to use the 'chat' feature within EHM itself.

This could be loads of fun - who needs the NHL! :-D

Ok, to summarise who's in so far:
  • Taksu - are you hosting it as well?
    Ocatvian
    Joehelmer
    Petrie
    Frosty
That makes a total of five people - that's quite a good amount.

If I've missed someone out or put someone on the list that shouldn't be then just let me know ;)

No I have 1.0.7, someone with 1.0.5 should host.
which league will we be using?
Doesn't matter to me, as long as it's a small league with less than 15 teams. I might suggest British league, because I haven't played it that much (ever), and it doesn't have that many teams right? Ofcourse I'd be happy to play the Finnish league as well, but I'll settle for just about any league.
will each GM need the same roster set - or will we play off the host?
The game uses hosts database and rosters (and the patch).
I also read a comment about making MSN mandatory...is that for real? I am a non-MSN user. I would prefer using an IRC room. Another option would be to use the 'chat' feature within EHM itself.
I on the other hand have never used IRC and on MSN Messenger we can all chat on the same window as we play EHM on windowed mode. It's been very handy on previous games I've played (not that many of them though). If you have Windows XP you also have Windows Messenger, which is basically the same

Or we can use IRC, but someone will have to guide me thru it :?

Why we need messenger or IRC is not really for the game itself, but for setting up the game. With messenger the host can tell if he has the game ready, if there are problems and we know if everyone is ready to join etc etc. Also it's a good way for comments during the game (if EHM is in windowed mode).

I can/would like to host it.

I got a new PC, so it's fast enough. But I wonder of the connection 3 to 4 Megabit/sec?

We should test it first.
Also somebody in backup, if I don't play...

I dunno, can't we take a neutral one? Like the Russian or Austrian league? I don't know nothing about swedish teams? But what do you all think?

I would like to play Austrian league as I didn't till now...

Houston, we have a problem!

I might have to cancel saturday, because my sister, who I rarely see at all, has insisted we hit the town that night (and I don't mean the pharmacy or shopping). This is not certain, but I decided I should let you all know.

So, we can reschedule, or if there's enough players for satudray, play without me. I'll join in on the next game.

Like I said it's not certain, either way, I'll have fun on saturday! 8)

Oh, and how about that Messenger / IRC thing, which will we be using?

I suggest MSN Messenger, you could also install Yahoo. (I prefer MSN)

I would like to make a test with joe when I see him...
