What team are you? Cause it is the glasgow goons who look formidable to me. Crosby, J Staal, H Sedin, Granlund, St Louis, Neal, Yandle, Byfuglien, Keith, Justin Schultz. His goaltending is iffy with Halak and Hedberg. A half time starter and a back up...but man oh man. That roster is amazing. Gonna have to win PIM, SHP and all goalie categories just to have a chance.

We shall see...but I feel like I am in trouble in my first game.
Yep goalies are probably going to be my achilles heel, think ill need to try and upgrade through trading methinks
Bryz for Crosby! ;)

Anyone else having problems changing their team... I'm currently trying to set my line up for the future but its not letting me move any of my players. I have Versteeg due to come off IR but it won't let me move him to my roster and Bogosian to IR.

I'm probably doing something stupidly wrong but anyone else having any problems?

EDIT: So it appears I can't change my team when using "Enhanced Clubhouse", I can change it when using "Classic Clubhouse" :dunno:

Haven't had much of a chance to look at my roster yet (WestCan Canucks), but I did spend a quick couple minutes when Manimal first opened up the site...I did notice Shultz of the Oilers available and so quickly dropped Paajarvi to pick up Shultz

I picked up Nick Shultz, not (Glasgow Goons) Justin Shultz!

LOL
I was wondering when I saw the pick-up

About Goalies I remember our draft and how almost everyone pick goalies as soon as possible.
At the time I suggest change the number of goalies to 2 and use only 1 on our daily roster.
Also I dont like the min played because it give a lot of advantage to team who has number 1 goalies not better goalies

I guess we could make a pool at the ESPN league site and see what everybody thinks.

We talked about that at the draft and the majority wanted it as it is.
You can bring up the question again after this season but there will be no such change now

Actually my suggestion was to make a pool to employ any change (if it happens) only next season. Not now!

He may be better in the blocked shots category. ;)

Nick will pick up some points as he is being paired with Justin.

As for the goalie change...no thanks. Goalies add more strategy to the game. We lowered the # of categories and changed them a couple of years ago so that it would not just favor the guys on the best teams. Trust me I know. Steve Mason actually has done fairly well when he is playing in the pools....as a starter.

If you value goalies you take them...if you do not value them you do not. And where they go in the draft is relative to where they end up in the Fantasy Hockey points....near the top. The best ones are always in the top 20 or so....which is why they are (and should be) valuable in hockey pools.

When we started this fantasy hockey it was determined that we wanted to represent a full team as much as we possibly could. We have 12 forwards 6 dmen and 2 goalies "DRESSED" for our games....just like every single hockey team has. It allows for MANAGEMENT of the team, not just dressing and undressing. It makes people interested in trading and makes moves happen. WIth 30 starting goalies available in the league....owners of teams need to MANAGE their team and make decisions on goaltending just like any REAL NHL GM.

This is the way it should be. If we all only dressed one goalie--the guy that wins the categories is the guy with the team that plays the most. IE if Vancouver plays 4 games and I have Roberto (In the past) then I win because my competitions goalies only play 3 games.

This way...there is more strategy and more fun in adding and dropping and trading and making decisions on who to play etc.

Goalies are a big part of hockey, and SHOULD be a big part of fantasy hockey. Here they are. And they are not too much a part of it anymore like they were when we had 4 or 5 categories. I actually think we have it bang on now with the way they do.

Yes...I value goalies in fantasy hockey..and all others should too. I suggest you have a look at player rater on ESPN fantasy site, under players tab...you will see...goalies rank high and score many fantasy points. They are needed/ Having 2 dress and allowing 3 on the roster is a STRATEGY decision. Do I want 7 dmen or 15 forwards on my roster? or do I want 6 dmen and 3 goalies, or 14 forwards and 3 goalies.

Sometimes my roster has 2 goalies...sometimes 3...I change it off and on depending on what is needed to win that week for my team. STRATEGY (certainly not drafting) is what has made me successful....even though I never win the BIG ONE.

I would hate to see us drop a goalie from the starting roster and full roster....if that would happen it takes away some of the strategy and I would then have to reevaluate my interest.

Totally up to the group for next year though. I would then have to decide whether I want to stay in the league or not.

Manimal--# of transactions...should be reset to 4 tomorrow morning. 4 per match. So 4 per week.

I never realised it wasn't. I am doing it now

Guys, do we want a trade deadline? If so, when?

EDIT: I have now sent PMs and e-mails to the missing managers of our league. They have until the end of the first week to get back to me or be replaced(if we can find new managers)

Yeah trade deadline should be END of week 6 or 7. Have to have it...otherwise guys out of playoffs start giving guys in playoffs players.

My team sucked today. Big time.

My team actually looked pretty good. I actually missed to switch Theodore for Bryz yesterday but ended up with way better stats thanks to Theodore!
I should win today as Vikings got two players playing while I got almost a full team.

Who would have thought that I would make the first trade of the season? I'm usually really slow but this time eventual betters sure got some money back. ;)
I needed a different kind of defenceman than Vlasic and think Hamhuis fits my bill better. I got higher hopes for Zajac than Dubinsky as I'm afraid of how he could affect -/+, though I probably lost a bit in the offensive categories. I thinks that the trade was really even and made both our teams better.:)

I don't think you're losing any offense as Zajac is playing with Kovalchuk and Dubinsky plays for the Jackets
This trade looks like a clear win for you

I believe that Dubinsky got a higher threshold though and Kovalchuk needs to find his game to help Zajac. I had a tougher time deciding on Vlasic as he is a +10 or better almost every season.

CLose trade. One guy overrated two players and the other guy overrated two players. :-D No...seriously now....Zajac and Dubinsky are a wash. Hamhuis will block more shots than Vlasic. Plus minus is a wash on the defense unless Canucks go into the tank...which um.....IMHO they will.

Dubinsky will get TONS of ice time in all situations in CBJ. His plus minus will not be good...so I have a feeling Visual that you win in plus minus part...BUT Zajac will feed off Kovi for points....Dubinsky will get a bunch just because playing all the time.

And I believe...that this is the first season I did not make the first trade.

I got no response from CAtch Up to my trade request with him. He always got back to me on those..even if just to decline. Anyone else heard anything from him?

NOw...I have not put it into my tradeblock. But.

Available at a decent return (I do need playmakers)

1. David Legwand
2. Jeff Carter
3. possibly Niemi or Hiller...but would need another starter in return.
4. THat washington goalie I have.
5. Ryan CLowe
6. Mike Green
7. Alex Burrows

My only no way I will not trade him right nows are

1. Patrick Marleau (I have had him on block before)
2. One of Niemi and Hiller
3. Cody Hodgson
4. Cory Conacher
5. Brent Seabrook
6. Dan Girardi
7. Ryan Callahan

Rest of the roster...can be used to work out a deal for a playmaker. I need assists.
