Liberec season 2004-05
Josef Beranek - Roman Simicek - Radoslav Kropac
Lubomir Korhon - Harri Suutarinen - Pavel Kabrt
Pavel Kasparik - Rok Pajic - Vaclav Novak
Patrik Roszival - Stanislav Prochazka - Rudolf Vercik

Jiri Kuntos - Josef Reznicek
Ladislav Smid - Valdemar Jirus
Richard Jares - Angel Krstev

Martin Prusek - Marek Roznik

Roznik was probably my best find, sporting advantage marks like 8.60 playing down in the Slovakian juniors for Trencin, although he was the best goalie of the team (!). He began the season as a starter, and did well (it's not his fault that i couldn't resist when Prusek wanted to get into the team). He recently was the best goaltender at the WJC.

My Capitals at the start of the first season.

Acquisitions bolded as usual:

Alexander Semin - John Madden - Mariusz Czerkawski
Alexander Ovechkin - Yanic Perreault - Dainius Zubrus
Darcy Verot - Jeff Halpern - Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre
Brian Sutherby - Andrew Cassels - Boyd Gordon

Brad Bombardir - Brendan Witt
Jason Doig - Ben Clymer
Steve Eminger - Boris Mironov

Olaf Kölzig
Rastislav Stana

If you're wondering, how come I have Madden in the team, although in an earlier topic I showed a piccy of Madden going to St. Louis. Well, I had a crash at that game, and out of frustration restarted the whole game. And this time New Jersey traded him with me.

Madden is a defencive (or two-way) forward, but he's in the first line, simply because even if he's not really considered a star first liner, he's still my best center in the offencive end. Also, Halpern is good defencively, but not so much offencively. So I use Halpern as defencive center, and gave Madden an offencive role.

If I remember correctly, I'm currently negotiating with Chris Tamer, to strengthen my weak defence, but he hasn't decided which team to take yet.

Also on the process of trading Brian Willsie (currently benched) to Jiri Fishcer with the Red Wings. They haven't replied yet.

Still playing with the Buffalo Sabres. In 2010 I won my third straight Cup and my second Presidents' Trophy in two years.

The lines and defense pairings I won the last time with looked like this...

Ilya Kovalchuk - Zach Parise - Jarome Iginla
Rick Nash - Gilbert Brule - Rostislav Olesz
Peter Mueller - Clarke MacArthur - Milan Michalek
Daniel Paille - Ryan Oulahen - Jarret Stoll
Jed Ortmeyer

Dion Phaneuf - Sergei Gonchar
Paul Martin - Brent Sopel
Brendan Witt - Jack Johnson

The no. 1 goalie was Marc-Andre Fleury and the back-up was Marc Denis, who I landed for Ryan Miller at the deadline.
Olesz was aquired in exchange for Jeff Carter and a 2nd rounder in mid-February.

In the off-season, I got rid of Gonchar (since he couldn't log big minutes anymore) and captain Brendan Witt.

After landing Brent Seabrook from the Rangers, I still had one more spot to fill on defense, so a made d-man Ryan Parent a regular on the blueline.

Right now, I'm in the middle of training camp, and for the upcoming season, this is the roster I have in mind:

Kovalchuk - Parise - Iginla
Nash - Brule - Olesz
Kenndal McArdle - either Angelo Esposito or John Tavares - Mueller
MacArthur - Stoll - Michalek

Phaneuf - Johnson
Martin - Seabrook
Parent - Sopel
First call-up would be Ryan Kerr, I guess.

Fleury in goal and Denis to back him up.

McArdle, a restricted free agent at the time, was strangely aquired from the Panters for a 2nd rounder and one four-star prospect. I tied him up for five years at $2.5M each ammediateley.

My total payroll's at $69M, even though my budget's at a massive $92M. :P

Just aquired Alyn McCauley from the Stars for Daniel Paille and a 3rd rounder. :) He'll center my third-line.

Rostislav Olesz scored a total of 42 points in 8 pre-season games. \:D/

Didn't play last weeks at all, so here's my roster at the beginning of 2005-06.
At the moment I didn't manage to aquire a 2nd line right wing (as a replacement for Dany Bousquet, who sucked as my 2nd line RW), but I'm still hoping to get something satisfying in North America.
Except Christian Lukes all the guys are aquired during the 2005 off-season.

KASSEL HUSKIES 2005-06
aquired players bolded

Kreutzer - Swanson - Langfeld
Gosselin - Corso - Bombis
Acker - Drury - Sychra
Valenti - Abstreiter - Hommel

Kopitz - Obsut
Laflamme - Furey
Lenz - Retzer
Lukes - Lavallee

Gage
Kauhanen

and if you wonder who's my 3rd line LD... ok, it's ME... yes, ME
I was as narcisstic to create myself (even with my rollerhockey-toughness ratings *g*), but when my pic is already included by 'faceinthegame' I just get enticed :-D

Latest reincarnation of my team (started last night):

Palffy - Richards - Crosby
Cole - Malkin - Malone
Hagman - Nichol - Recchi
Holmström - Påhlsson - Roy
Foglino (my 2006 1st round pick #13) - Stone - Oullet as main backup guys, all in AHL

Phaneuf - Pitkänen
Tärnström - J.Smith
Whitney - Orpik
Lilja & Tanabe as main backup guys & salary dumps

Raycroft - Caron
Fleury still in AHL tearing it up and getting experience

Looking into getting rid of Palffy for a 1st or 2nd line RW after the second season as I believe Crosby and the lads will be looking for bigger salaries by then. This change would also allow me to play Malone in his natural LW position. Recchi is also a guy to dump after this season as he's declining rather rapidly. As for the others, Raycroft was the best goalie I could get after losing the bidding war for both Turco and Vokoun, and so far his performance hasn't been impressive.

A dominant team scoring 425 goals while allowing fewest in the Nhl in the last season resulting in winning the presidents trophy/cup, but lots of fa´s in 2012 and that will force me to trade away key high paid players :(, with that roster I am at 38 mill so not much room for raises. Got the first and second overall draft picks in 2011 draft unsigned, that I have high hopes for in the future. No idea why Gagne keeps accepting 3.2 mill p/a, he has done that ever since 2006, where I picked him up as a ufa hehe.

This is my Ottawa team heading into the 2006 play-offs.

Heatley - Spezza - Alfredsson
Vermette - McCauley - Havlat
Fisher - Draper - Neil
Hagman - Hollweg - McGrattan

Redden - Chara
Meszaros - Hannan
Schubert - Volchenkov
Hnidy

Emery/Hasek

Got Hannan from the Sharks for Philips and a 2nd. McCauley also came from San Jose in exchange for Smolinski. Hollweg was aquired for Chris Kelly and a 7th. Landed Hagman from the Stars for another 7th. Hnidy...got him and a 7th for Tomas Malec.

I probably won't be able to re-sign Chara, he wants $4M+. Other guys with contracts expiring are Neil, Vermette and Hagman (all qualified) and Hasek, who I won't re-sign.

A pretty physical defense you have there Systemfel, but has Hannan been better then Philips has for the sharks?, he always seems to be rock solid physical D-man, but average rating normally around 7.30 isnt spectacular. Wondering if was really an upgrade other then adding grid, which is always good ofc. I aquired him for 2 second round picks in the first season myself to compare in terms of value.

Dunno how Philips' been for the Sharks, all I know is that it was a great pick-up for me. I just couldn't help pressing the 'Confirm' button. :D

He was aquired to replace Chara on the top pairing come 2006-2007.

Well, haven't been on here for a while. Well here is my Penguins side...

2006-07

Malkin - Christensen - Crosby
Semin - Bonk/Mario - Palffy
Sutherby - Cibak - Ruutu
Saprykin - Talbot - Kukumberg

T. Kaberle - Orpik/Pilar
Phillips - Suchy/Welch
Kuba - Ric Jackman

Caron - Fleury

My Defensemen all kinda switch around a bit depending on form and fitness.

Crosby had 106 points in 65 games in his rookie season, Mario had 111 points aswell. But over the offseason Mario forgot how to skate so he played 20 games then i sent him upstairs, but then brought him back to the ice as i struggled with Bonk out of the line-up.

in 56 games so far this season Sidney has 106 points and Malkin in his rookie season has 101.

my season record is: 44-9-3

Here my Toronto Maple Leafs at the start of the 06/07 season

Tanguay - Sundin - O'Neil (Sundin and O'Neil both had 130+ points last season)
Czerkawski - Lemiuex - Perry (Kukumberg fills in on this line when Lemiuex tires)
Axelsson - Fisher - Tucker

Vaananen - McCabe
Boughner - Morris
Gauthier - Sarich

Caron

Went with 3 forward lines and have Kukumberg on the second PP and filling in for injured players or when Lemiuex gets tired. Currently have no back-up goalie, o well, Caron won me the cup last year. :-D

1st Korolyuk - Pavlikovsky - Fleury
2nd Tomik - D. Svensson - Moravec

First season I managed to win the league but in "Kvalserien", after beating the two Elitserie-teams Luleå (away) and Leksand at home Kim Staal was injured and I had no one to center my first line so some worthless player from Latvia had to play and sucked so I lost three straight games and in the end missed promotion by 3 points. Now it's a two-horse-race between me and Luleå. I don't know why Korolyuk and Fleury wanted to go to me but they arrived late last season, in the first game Korolyuk scored 5 goals and assisted on 2 others while Fleury scored 1 goal and had 6 assists. Pretty good debut

I've noticed Jed Ortmeyer's name up on a lot of these posts, which is unusual because he's certainly no Ovechkin or Iginla. That said, I have him on my team and he's been really impressive as a checker, so for those of you glancing at the top two lines of each team and moving on, take note! Also, I'd suggest Chuck Kobasew as a first or second line right wing. He's scored at least 45 goals in each of the last five seasons for me on a second line underneath Jarome Iginla and sometimes with questionable centermen. All that and he stays cheap!
