Most hockey players in real life don't play in all 82 games.batdad wrote:Not saying nothing is wrong. Saying nothing is needed. It is not a fix that is important young man. Read between the lines of the game and understand how hockey players are IRL and you would not have this issue. IT is a pet peeve of yours and is FAR from being something that is important or even needed to be fixed.

Re: Should I alternate my goalies?
I said ''forced'' between brackets in my initial post but I meant more like you have to make a call. Do I put my best asset while being ''tired'' or put the guy that gives me less chance of winning but is 100%. Maybe I should have said that his stamina drops a little every game he starts and then resets when the backup starts one, whatever would make you sometime say : okay I'll throw the backup in there. Because the game doesn't have any incentive to start your backup. And your backup stats will still improve at the same rate if he doesn't play (if you have a good goalie coach).
I agree starters get to play back to back game and 70-75+ games a year for some, because they are the guy that gives you the best chance to win every night ! Goalies don't need stamina like players. The goalies who starts almost every night starts that many games because they are the best in the game, they don't get 75 games because they have high stamina. Players will play 82 games if they can, but some will be rested for the same reason you rest a goalie.
As much as I like this game, it is not Real life. It is also not a priority change in the game. All I was trying to explain is that if my starter don't play 82 games, this is because he got injured. IRL I will give him a break so he doesn't get injured or fatigued and recover. Not sure the game simulate this kind of IRL situation. If he gets injured, I don't think this is because of how often he started and because his knee started to hurt the night before, but because he was on the ice and that gave him a chance to get injured.
Bottom line, there isn't a real incentive to play your backup or it is not explained or people take IRL exemple to explain what they do in a computer game (an apple is not an orange). Your backup doesn't need to play in this game. He doesn't need to be placed in game situation, in front of fans, to get the feel of a game situation, not a simulation in practice, like IRL ! (cause this is not RL !), etc, etc. This is a computer game and I just thought it would be nice to have something pushing you to play your backup and the stamina effect seems to be the most realistic way to go about it.
This game would require a million of other changes and tweaks that are more important than this one but this is one that could be easily implemented, whichever way you want to do it. There is a difference between a realistic modification and an unrealistic one. I have seen very good ideas in the wishlist, a lot of them are not realistic in a programming / short-medium term perspective.

Re: Should I alternate my goalies?
I believe in previous versions of EHM the visible Stamina Attribute was quite important for a goalie, and a lower rating meant a G was unlikely to ever be a successful #1 starter (so I'd expect EHM:EA is the same or will be the same once tweaked)...plus there's the hidden Attribute Natural Fitness that determines how quickly a player recovers once there below 100% + there's other possible influences (such as the Consistency Attribute, the Injury Proneness Attribute, and the needed review/editing for EHM:EA that's currently in-progress)kev90 wrote:I agree starters get to play back to back game and 70-75+ games a year for some, because they are the guy that gives you the best chance to win every night ! If to many/most skaters and goaltenders are playing 100% of the games then there's a significant problem (but I've seen many posters note injuries, and I don't recall others posting that they're seeing many/most NHLers are playing 100% of the games)

Re: Should I alternate my goalies?
Agreed, and it's all about keeping it as realistic as is possible in the context of gaming mechanics and coding, which is exceptionally difficult with sport without effectively "forcing" a decision somewhere.kev90 wrote:As much as I like this game, it is not Real life. I highly doubt anyone watches every game in full for example, and even if they did just how accurate is the match engine? It's designed as a representation not a perfect game simulation after all; and all this is without the fact you can't even watch your guys practice, or analyse their mood or mentality each game night/practice etc etc.
So we have things like a rating system. If a guy consistently posts bad ratings, do you persevere, or drop him? That's your choice, but the rating is your cue for what you would see IRL by watching them play and practice(something you can't do in the game).
Same with condition being the visual cue for tiredness(and probably what the game coding functions on) - now perhaps there's an argument that it could be built into their rating(wouldn't give an indication between games though), and that the % way it's done isn't realistic and potentially forces you into making decisions in a gamey way. I agree, but it has been done this way in games for decades due to the apparently lack of an accurately informative alternative that can be coded.
Now I'm sure not saying the above is perfect or realistic, but to remove them they'd have to have an alternative to show things you can see IRL that you cannot possibly see in a video game.
A failure to have this would turn any game into a blind mans guessing game, and personally I like to make informed decisions like a real GM otherwise what is the point?
