So they only saved $700,000 in cap space and Weiss is on their books until 2018 or whatever...

Cory Conacher + rights to Kyle Pettit for BUF 1st 2015
Brendan McMillan for a 2nd rounder
Tom Sestito for a 3rd rounder.
Looks like picks dont hold much value but 4th liners / AHLers do.

Actually sounds pretty realistic for Glen Sather.

I don't know if this is due to the different start date but, using the default database, the Marty St. Louis equivalent player is deemed a franchise player by New York and I couldn't prise him away for: 5 1st round picks (TB) and the Victor Hedman equivalent, so I'm not 100% sure if the AI is completely at fault here (Although they seem a bit stingy rejecting the deal)

I made this trade as well. Couldn't help myself. Of course, I am just doing a run through to see how the game works and such.

Sather practically begged me to do it. I hit gauge interest and he said Harumph are you going to make me a firm offer or not?

Anyone else noticed the advice they receive from their assistant is usually way off the mark?
I'm getting told average player for franchise player(UNT) is a 'fair deal', and of course when I gauge interest I'm told there's no way they'd trade.

Yep.
I wanted to trade away one of my bottom 6 guys. When I was offered a 3rd rounder in return, he said "this is a bad deal for us", so I asked for a 2nd rounder. Then his advice was "this is a real bad deal for us". Getting a 2nd instead of a 3rd really made the deal worse.

The AI definetely needs som tweaking come trading... Rangers just threw away 5 franchise/core players for basically nothing in return...
Whats worse is they traded with the Devils more than once
the Devils would NEVER trade with the Rangers

Quincey and Kindl cleared waivers. Im rather surprised at that.
Dale Weise was put on waivers and was claimed.
Kings put Regehr and Matt Greene on waivers and cleared.
Im not sure but I would have thought most of those would not be waived and if so, definitely claimed.

Did a test sim to Nov 2016 with the 7.3 Rosters and there were some solid deals and not too many head scratchers(though the prospects dealt are unknown since we can't see the potential.....yet)
Tampa Bay won the last two Cups. Drouin is a beast
Some notable deals
2014-15 Season
Leafs traded Stuart Percy to the Flyers for Robert Hagg
Edmonton traded Matt Hendricks to Detroit for Tomas Jurco(Wings were very active during the deadline as you'll see)
Devils traded Adam Larsson to Dallas for Maxime Lagace
Detroit traded Tomas Tatar to Florida for Brian Campbell
Boston traded David Krecji to WPG for Andrew Ladd and a 2nd
SJ Traded Mirco Mueller to Boston for Seidenberg
SJ traded Nieto to Carolina for Semin
Detroit traded Athanasiou and Rights to Tyler Bertuzzi to DAL for Spezza
FLyers traded Streit to DET for Dekeyser
ARZ traded Vistentin and Yan Pavel Laplante to WPG for Byfuglien
At Draft
CBJ traded Jack Johnson to DAL for Jason Demers
2015-16 Season had a few BIG TRADES
TB traded Allen York, Koekkoek, DeAngelo, 1st, 2nd, 3rd to NJD for Dylan Strome
BOS traded Khokhlachov to TOR for DION PHANEUF
PHI Trades Gostisbehere to QPG for Kichon/Neuvirth
PHI Trades Simmonds/Joslin to WPG for 2nd, 3rd, and 5th
TOR Trades Colborne to BOS for Soderberg

So, I come from the console games, where trading has always been a bit funny (Bozak and a third for Stamkos type funny).
In EHM, they take this rubbish seriously...
How do I gauge a tread?
How is one 4 star player not worth two 3 star (I know star is interest, but it is how I understand "value" for now).
And picks, no one is ever interested in picks?
Thank you all for making my transition to EHM less painful, I do not want to give up, but really struggling on how to handle things.

My understanding is that the stars are your assistant general managers perceived value. The other team may value the players differently. This can make it more of a challenge but also makes it possible to "steal" a player the other team may not value as highly as you do. Takes a bit of trial and error sometimes but patience can be a virtue.

Wowzer.....AI is NOT AFRAID TO MOVE ELITE Player
Washington traded OV to CALGARY for Sean Monahan and a 2nd round prospect in 2017
Flyers traded Giroux to Nashville for Shea Weber In 2018
Penguins traded Malkin in Feb 2018 to TORONTO for two prospects(2nd and 3rd rounder). Pens finished last in east
AI needs work. Flyers were near the bottom of the east, traded 2nd and 3rd for Kesler who is a UFA.
Also Tampa Bay has won three straight Cups

And here I am, unable to trade 5 first round picks for a 4th liner.

JVR, 1st 2018, and 1st 2018 for AHN John Gibson, am I wrong in thinking I am screwing myself?
But they wont take it.

I have not been able to do a single real trade outside of "Offer to all" on a player, and you always get scraps offered through that.

Might have to take into consideration of what the AI's team needs are.

I have, AHN wants "a forward prospect, defence prospect, and a goalie prospect, overall looking to add a vet presence to the line up".
In trying to acquire Gibson, I offer I offered JVR for the vet, Morgan Riley, Nylander, and 3 x 1st round picks, and they reject.
Kessel, Riley, McDavid (season two), 2 x first round picks.
I have tried about 30 different trades.
Nothing.

hahahahaha, only if I get some free hamburgers too!

I think it would be more productive to test AI trading with the default fake rosters.
while also looking at why the team made the move. There's isn't much context in Player A was traded for player B lets riot!
