I do see where you're coming from about starting again and I take it as no criticism. And I appreciate that the Danish leagues are well out of date. As Nino has stated, we simply haven't had enough volunteers to help with anything but the most commonly played leagues. If somebody had offered to help research Denmark then it would be up to date. Ultimately we have relied on a very small team of dedicated people who have helped keep the main leagues completely up to date - and then there's Manimal who covers a huge amount of stuff all by himself (he does far too much work IMO).

The thing is, I don't think starting again would help with any of the leagues that are actively researched. They're already up to date and so deleting and re-importing those players won't achieve anything for those leagues (because they'll just be exactly the same as they are). I can see how removing players from the very out of date leagues would remove old players - but if there's nobody researching those leagues then even if we were to import all of the new rosters they would all sit there unrated. As much as having various out of date/retired players in Denmark, etc is not great, nor is having up to date rosters with no ratings (because EHM will give them all extremely low CAs meaning that many will retire after one season).

For me, the real solution is:

1. We need more researchers who can deal with out of date leagues (thankfully we now have a Danish researcher who is getting started); and
2. We need some volunteers to go through the free agents in the database and check whether or not they should be retired.

I'm really not sure what the waste and leftover stuff is. Can you clarify? I can see how Denmark and other out of date leagues most likely have players who not retired, but I don't see what else is waste.

We do have various editors we use to maintain the DB. Drop Manimal or I a PM and we can discuss how you can help. I'm in the same position as you - when EHM 2007 was released I was a student but now a I work fairly long hours and so I just fit it around other things as and when I can.

As one who has helped in the past with researching, albeit it in a very minor capacity. It is a lot of work. I get the desire to start from scratch as it is a new game. But with the ability to import EHM 2007 DB it just makes no sense to throw away all the great work done.

There does seem to be some work needed on the current database, and if I had the time I would love nothing more to help out. Alas having a full time job and two kids kinda takes all my free time away.

Still to Manimal and the researchers Such a great job to you guys!

With "waste" I mean players that have never excisted (probably leftovers from the fake database that started everything).

Will see if I can make a list of players/staff that should be deleted.

We have a person updating the Danish League now. There wouldn't be any need for you to do the same work he is.

The only thing I know about Norway is that they always seem to beat us at the IHWC - even when our team is the best on paper

THere is a reason for that ElQuapo. They are a slightly better bad hockey team than yours. Cause your good players don't care about it.They want to play in the NHL>

Since we are on topic, I'm also very tempted to help again with EHM for Slovenian league (and perhaps Austrian INL league). I don't think I have enough time though (heck, I haven't even find time to install steam and buy EHM yet), but should there be anything noone else would have done, I'm here for you, guys I don't want to be seen as arrogant, considering I have left the community quite some time ago, but I remember I always enjoyed my work, either it was researching known teams, or unfaking the database

That is up to the game developers.
They want more leagues added but it is a time issue and how difficult it is to set up the league rules.
Probably some rating system between the leagues (Danish league is rated low and will probably not be a priority)

Our work is simply to update the data in the database; it doesn't have any effect on what leagues are playable. That is down to SI to decide and code (although Manimal and I have made some suggestions as to what fictional/faked leagues could be playable).
