Potential and Scouting

The manual also states that Scouts will "understand the game better" if they have better coaching/tactics attributes, although it's not clear what that means. They also mention that nationality of the scout and location of assignment comes into play (e.g. sending a Swedish scout to scout Sweden may get him eyes on a few additional players).

what? scouts dont even need to see games. you can scout players in the middle of summer and get a fully detailed scouting report back

scouts are largely random and they over-rate every moderately decent prospect. they will frequently take a 50/120 CA/PA 17 year old and tell you, unanimously, that he has 1st line potential, key player, five star future

Yes that is true. But also go look at the reports, and you will see....when you scout the player individually...and they see him play a game...there is a box summary of the game that is shown, and well...the better the game the kid has the better the scouts sees of him.

Scouts are not largely random...they always give a result within the parameters of the player's potential. And no they are not always unanimous. Not even close. Maybe when you go and read reports they have changed to show what the head scout says or the last guy that saw him says, and yes that can be an issue. But....they also have their own opinions nad that is easily seen from the report card, and the notes...which are quite often different from each other, even if they all say potential first liner.

Love how you are new, and telling me what is going on. Not the case. You are not correct.

Yes there is...scouting tab on the individual player-report card- Drop down menu and it is there. each scout reports. When I am looking at a player I ALWAYS look at this because it tells me things like if the guy has any hockey sense. The grade varies A, A- A+ B B- all the way to F-. This stat really helps me determine whether a guy of marginal ability can succeed at a higher level. Hockey sense can overcome quite a few things.

Look at Taylor Leier in your db. In mine his hockey sense is a B+, but his numbers and attributes look like he is at best an AHLer for his career. Yet I had him score 15 goals for me and if I were to continue in that game know I could get him to at least 20 (he got 15 on third line with ZERO pp time) Plan was 2nd line and 2nd PP for the next season.

TBL rosters (all other custom rosters) have been uploaded here in the EHM 2007 database format, and must be imported manually to EHM: EA upon download. Thence, one can view the database even with the EHM 2007 editor.

I'm not sure what "it" you're referring to...

There is no way of editing an EHM:EA database at this time (i.e. no way to edit just the database)
An EHM:EA database is created by importing an EHM07 database, so the Pregame Editor/EHM Updater are still used to edit the EHM07 database before it's imported into EHM:EA

The EHM:EA Assistant allows some direct editing of an EHM:EA saved game (you have to have a game running and then the EHM:EA Assistant reads the game data). Changes made using the EHM:EA Assistant affect only that particular saved game, the actual database is unchanged
