But then again, I would never trade for Vanek as he's signed to a long-term contract, and is a base of Buffalo's offense.
Why would that make you not trade for him? Surley if he's a main part of their offense and is signed to a long contract, surely that shows how good and effective he is?

Because I just don't think Buffalo would give up on him in real life. Also, I never enjoyed trading for superstars in the game, I rather develop my own threats, and I try to get an upstanding performance from second-class players. It's just harder, and more challenging.

But again, it all depends on playing style. If I would have to trade for Vanek, I would offer them on my own...LW prospect, 1st round pick + some other pick, or maybe player to fill their needs. If that's not enough for them, I would look elsewhere, there are plenty of goalscoring forwards that can fill his spot.

I changed the trade and made it.

I got Vanek + rnd 4 pick

They got Hanzal, Gistedt & Yandle.

I know I have given 3 good prospects up but I hope Vanek will play well alongside Jokinen & Lisin.

Didn't fancy giving Meuller up.

Help!

I enquired about Jay Bouwmeester and Florida said they wanted Shane Doan in return!

Franchise d-man.......26 yrs old................or 33yr old Doan. The leader of the Coyotes and my best RW.

I love this game but sometimes it upsets me! lol

Any advice?

Keep Doan. The fans and the board won't like you for that trade. :bustacap:
They will expect him to end his careeer with the Coyotes.

Yeah thats what I was thinking so I rejected it and traded Al Montoya and a few low round draft picks instead.

A young goalie of a similar standard should be easier to pick up that a Bouwmeester-esque d-man.

I'm in 2008/2009 season and the Hurricanes just approached me (Panthers) with this one:
to Hurricanes: Jay Bouwmeester + Stephen Weiss
to Panthers: Eric Staal + 3rd rounder

I'm thinking about it for 2 hours now and just can't make up my mind. :-?
First i couldn't believe that they wanted to trade Staal away - i can't remember this happen before. He is not injured and had a great last season with 141 points.
Now the problem is that i like Bouwmeester (not only because of his name, he had spectacular total of 29 goals last season) and Weiss is a good 2nd liner and had a good last season with 85 points on the first line.

Any ideas?? [-o<

Negotiate with them. Since they approached you they probablt low-balled you at first.
It also depends on your team needs and strenghts

I have a problem. I'm playing with the latest patch and latest "Lidas Roster"

I just started a game with the Maple Leafs and I'm looking to make some moves now during the preseason. I wanted Nick Boynton from the Ducks but I never got the chance to get him. When the game moved a day ahead I got the news that Boynton was listed as available, but when I looked at his profile, he was already traded to the Islanders. How come I never got the chance to make an offer?

Same thing with Danny Briere. Philly traded him to Phoenix without giving me a chance.. (didn't wanted him though)

Sadly, there's nothing you can really do about it. The game just screws you over sometimes.

i am not sure how your team is structured, but I would make the trade. Maybe give them a draft pick instead of Weiss. A chance to Staal rarely comes up and he is great offensive power.

Was this trade that bad (I'm in FEB 2009)

I get: Heatley
I give: two 2nd round picks, Prucha, Kovalev.

Prucha had been underwhelming and not as good as he's been in other games. Kovalev was a UFA at the end of the year. Grabbing Heatley gives me one last good shot at a cup I think as I have some high profile UFA's coming after the following season.

My forwards went from:

Kovalchuk-Weiss-Kovalev
Prucha-Leino-Vermette
Hartnell-Gaustad-Holmstrom
Erat-McCauley-Neil

to:
Kovalchuk-Weiss-Heatley
Vermette-Leino-Holmstrom
Hartnell-Gaustad-Neil
McCauley-Tarathukin-Erat

I ask the question because my fans called me a bonehead for making the trade, but in the next news item celebrated getting Heatley.....

??? :-k

I just got offered Cam Fowler and Blake Wheeler for John McFarland. I'd be the team giving up just McFarland in the deal. Wheeler performs very well in this file and I could use a player of his size to roll with Nathan Horton. Cam Fowler is a + since he seems to have 1-2 potential. McFarland is touted to be a better version of Mikko Koivu.

I really don't know what to do. I think I'm winning the trade but I don't want to do something unrealistic.

Looks like a pretty brilliant trade for you, unless you like Koivu alot.

Why don't you want to stack your team, contract reasons?

Cam fowler is an amazing player on his own. The trade there offering you is a no brainer in my opinion. I would do it.

Well the Heatley deal worked out great for me, as he won 4 cups in 7 years with the Blackhawks. He and Kovalchuk made beautiful music together, and I was always able to sign him to long contracts at never more than $5.5mil on the cap hit. This past season I felt Heaters was getting on a bit and my team was stagnant, so I used him and a midlevel prospect to grab Latandresse for the right wing at the deadline, who scored 35 points in 19 playoff games alongside Kovalchuk and Schremp.

matt44 wrote:Hi, I really need help with a trade offer.

I've just finished with my first season the Coyotes and really need a top LW so I enquired with the Sabres to see what they wanted in return for Tomas Vanek (107pts this season).

They said they wanted in return:

C Meuller
GK Gistedt
LD Yandle

Meuller is the only player I have concerns over letting. I have alot of depth at Centre and they are easy enough to pick up.
Gistedt is a 22yr old Netminder but I have Montoya who is 24 and looks better.
Yandle is a decent prospect at LD but again, I have lots of depth there.

HELP!!!

My line up which finished last season was:

Hanzal - Jokinen - Lisin
Carcillo - Reinprecht - Doan
Fedoruk - Garlock - Parker
Roy - Meuller - Wilson
Do it! That gives you a strong line up, give a young prospect the 3rd line center slot and put Garlock on 4th line.

Trade offer is from January 2009....I guess matt has played well past that offer. If he has not he needs more help with decision making than anyone here can give him :-D
