Is there anyone here who's willing to give some help on downloading the database? I created a new folder for the database, then downloaded the database. Now this is where the trouble starts, when it downloads the computer says that the database is a Internet Explorer file and I cannot open it. I can open my other databases just fine, I just can't open the Jets one. I would really like to be in this challenge and since I'm lost and stuck I figured I'd cry for help. Can anyone help me

This really doesn't belong in this thread. This thread is just for discussion of the challenge, experiences with your team and such. This really belongs in the "Where to install add-ons" thread. It sounds like your problem is that you need to install WINRAR to open this type of file. Try that first. If you're still having problems after that and need more help, please use the other thread.

I haven't even started training camp yet and Wisniewski goes down for four months.

OUCH!

I'm just about to start training camp. So far so good. I've got my tactics setup, my training squared away, and even hired my AHL staff. I 've got my fingers crossed and I'm hoping I don't see any big injuries!

I had my share of bad luck in the Islanders challenge when I had injured all three sucky goaltenders for 4 months. THAT, was a nightmare. Hopefully, I can avoid this situation this time.

Just finished training camp. Not sure what to do with Ryan. Let him play on the 3rd line, or let him tear up AHL for a season. I'm leaning towards AHL...

Ruutu is also pretty hard to place. 3rd line LW or 2nd line RW?

Too bad Bruins chose Pahlsson over Morrison to replace Reinprecht (18-18 draw). I could really have used him for my 1st line, but I guess it's more challenging this way :-p

LOL! That's exactly why I went with Pahlsson!

For the time being I put Ruutu in as my 3rd line LW, 2nd PP LW. Ryan is a tricky situation. I'm going to start out with him as my 3rd line RW but I think his morale is going to suffer. I should probably send him down. I'm going to give him a chance with the big club though.

I got things set up last night so I can start playing, but haven't started any games yet. Still looking over the rules, etc... This should be interesting.

Had the same problem. Let him play the first quarter of the season in the NHL, but he didn't impress, so send him down to AHL and moved up Talbot.

Did anyone else find it funny at the start of the game when it's announced that you are named GM, the fans are disappointed? Usually it's more of a neutral response, not so negative.

Actually I usually get a negative response...
Ha maybe the fans just know I'll ruin their team

Can anyone direct me to Jets logos? Are they created in some logo pack? Hope I'm not the only one looking for it ;) Thanks.

You can find them in the Downloads section, Logos -> Vintage NHL pack, that should be it.

Anything for a Czech fella :-D

So did I. Everything is ready, downloaded Jets logo, the Excel form, printed the rules so I can look at them anytime I am not sure... but I will start playing tomorrow since it's too late today.

This is cool pack. It helped me, but there is missing small Jets logo for daily calendar screen (or how it is called). Other logo sizes works fine :joy:

I just finished training camp and already I'm having a tough time with injuries with Backstrom, Doan and Selanne all injured  ]

Luckily they should all be healthy by the start of the regular season except for Backstrom who is out for a month.

I was also surprised about the response upon being named GM. I seem to ALWAYS get an indifferent response. The negativity scares me a bit. :|

I'm guessing it's got to do with their expectations or the fan interest level. IIRC, the fan interest is low to start.

the disappointment mostly has to do with fan interest level if I remember correctly. I also have noticed Canadians are generally dissappointed with me when I first take over their team.

Woah, Kesler just got sent to the Island for a 4th and a 5th. I'd hate to be Vancouver's GM with the backlash he's probably getting right now.

As much as i remember, there are two main reasons for negative reactions: nationality and your reputation.

If you are not a canadian guy taking over a canadian franchise, they won't be really happy. And then if you set your level of experience to a low level (like juniors or minors), they will be very negative on the hiring. ;)

I started wit the Jets just for fun to see the roster and all that stuff (because unfortuantelly i don't have the time to play now). And i started as a canadian with a junior experience, because then you always get a "some fans feel the signing was a bad one, but others think it could be successful giving a chance" reaction. It feels like more realistic.

Is that regular season or pre-season? If it's preseason it's not all that impressive. If that's a game in the regular season, I'm very impressed.

I beat Avalanche with 8-0 during the regular season on my save, but the power play sucks, we was down on 4,5% for a while ](*,)
