You will have to use the pre-game editor and change league and division for the teams. Make sure you put them in the right divisions or the game will not start

You dont have to do that. You dont have to change leagues or divisions or anything like that. If you want to pick up an affiliation, all you have to do is go to the pregame editor and click on the affiliation tab and either create a new affiliation or edit an existing one. thats it.

thanks will give it a try. Too bad there is no way of doing this in the Save Game editor. You should be able to solicit for an Affiliation to a higher league

I'm doing some editing with the pre-game editor for ehm2005 and I'm getting an 'affiliation_manager.cpp' error.
I've been changing affiliation but I don't know what I might be doing wrong.
I did change the Trashers-Jets team, change AHL teams (keeping correct number of team),same with ECHL then started to edit the affiliation and now the game crash while it's loading the database.

What are the basic rules for editing affiliations? I've been looking around the forum but can't find a lot of info on it.
I know I can't delete affiliation, I can repeat same affilliation twice with no effect or error
do I have to check all team if they are active in a league?
How should I proceed?

Deleting Affiliations

Is there a way to delete team affiliations, other then the pre-game editor? I've done a quick search, but can't find anything on it.

The Pre-Game Editor is the only way I'm aware of, and you cam't "delete" affiliations, only overwrite.

FYI If you have a team that has more than one affiliation, and you want them to have only one, you can have the same affiliation repeat

i.e.
Vancouver Canucks - Manitoba Moose
Vancouver Canucks - Manitoba Moose

The game "accepts" this, and in this way you can reduce the number of affiliations if desired

This is how I've worked around it, since everyone still always lists UHL teams as Detroit affiliates...
