Yeah that's an impressive defence, but your salarial cap must be pretty tight with Jovanovski, Pronger and Chara, they all have like 6.5 millions over each..ouch

For the topic, with the Canucks i trade Mitchell and a *** goaltender prospect for Brent Seabrook, not a big deal but i'm satisfied of this one.
Yeah, my forward core is pretty cheap with alot of youngsters. I also made a move of a 4th for Logan Couture. I thought it was a fairly decent deal. Also when Vlasic was an RFA he refused to resign, and i was able to move him along with a 3rd to Columbus for NIKITA FILATOV.

Yeah this is the only way you have to fit with the cap. With this defence and good youngster, until they keep there low salary before going UFA or RFA , it's a good way to win a championship.

I hope i can win a championship. I've got all the peices in place. Good defence and great goalie in Kipper. The offense is a little suspect but it still has the likes of Doan, Morrow, Semin, Tavares, JVR, and Mueller. Not amazing but very solid.

Is there any way to inquire about a player that is labeled as untouchable? i want a crack at trading for EJ, using Chara and his 9M a year contract as bait. but when i inquire about him they just shoot me down. I just got a surging Semen Varlamov for 4 spare non needed AHLers.

darn that's a good trade. I tried to pull that trade, but it was rejected lol. Was that on Lidas' database you tried that?

Nop, i always play with the original database, don't know if it can change something. But since i've got Seabrook in my team i never knew he have such a great potential, he's overall continue to grow up every month. He have a 7.75 rate and Mitchell was like 6.80.

my most recent move:

To Detroit:
Chris Pronger

To Anaheim:
Martin Lapointe (previously acquired off of waivers)
Andreas Lilja
rights to Zack Torquato
1st rnd pick in 2007

not too bad imo. Lilja is average, I dont think Torquato ever turns out that well and the 1st round pick is late. Then to replace Lapointe I traded Logan Pyett and a 3rd for Chris Clark.

I just had a lot of fun with Bates Battaglia in my game (as Toronto, using the last database update)

I traded Battaglia (who was in the Marlies at the time) and the rights to some Fin I had no intention of singing to Buffalo for Paul Gaustaud

Buffalo then put Batts up on reentrys and I put a claim in for him and he ended up with me again!

The next season I sent him and Jeremy Williams to Calgary for Marc Staal. Him and LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE make a great pairing

:-D

I thought I made a solid deal where both teams won when I traded Yann Sauve for Erik Karlsson. I need a pure offensive defenseman since Salo isn't getting any younger and for me, Karlsson was the best fit. Hated to see Sauve go, but I have enough defensive defensemen and needed someone who would contribute. Karlsson actually got traded to the Avs and I pounced after. My scouts think he's the next Brian Campbell lol

I pulled off a trade for Karlsson in one of my games and in his first full season he's a high 7's and top 4 dman for the canucks. So far looks like a good replacement for the aging Salo. :)

Traded two blue chip prospects or excellent rankings, A young star and a 1st rounder in the years draft for Crosby in 2019. lol, took SS's of them, i'll have to find and post.

2008- Cory Schneider. Mason Raymond 2 1st rounders for Kovalchuk. Updated rosters and potentials. Worked very well for both. Kovy NHL all time leader in goals. 2100 career points. Fantastic with Crosby in the later years; cup winners. Gave ATL their #1 goalie; Hedberg never panned out. Raymond played 7 seasons scoring career high 71 points. Not sure who the picks turned to be considering it was 15 years ago in game.

the AI just made a epic trade in my game..

Penguins traded Kunitz to Rangers for Redden.
2-3 days later Rangers traded back Kunitz to Penguins for a 3rd round pick and a 5th round pick... basically Redden for the picks...:dunno:

I was in charge of none of the teams

Lol at Glen Sather for even signing Redden in the 1st place. I just signed Karlsson and he'll be joining me next season on my Canuck team which is awesome right now :)

I inquired about Vinny in my 2nd year and managed to get him for 2 4ths a 5th, Prospect Michael Latta(a 2nd rounder who is projected to be a 2nd liner) and Nathan Lieuwen(a 5th rounder, possible backup goalie). Vinny goes on to win the Art Ross and become my team leaderand signed him to a 7 year extension. Paired him with Hossa and Kulemin. Probablly one of the best trades Ive made.

before trade deadline first season i aquired Dany Heatley for Artem Anisimov and Miika Wiikman.

I think this is a trade has benefitted both teams. Heatley went on to score most points (52+82) during the second season whilst Wiikman had a decent season in AHL recording a 92.1 SV%, 2.40 GAA. Artem Anisimov had a good season in the AHL scoring 29 goals and 57 assists.

Senators have finished second last both seasons were in need of prospects whilst we were going for the cup.

Were you able to do the deal straight-up?

I recently started a game where I created a super-prospect (yeah, sue me :-D ) and waited until he got drafted to take over his new team. Boston picked him 1st overall in 2008 (the funny part is that I called him Bobby Orwell and he is from Parry Sound...).
I have no idea why Boston sucked so bad because they had a very good core of players, but anyway... with Marc Savard, Patrice Bergeron, Derek Roy and now young Orwell the Bruins were deeeeeeeeep at center.
So I traded C Marc Savard and D Sami Lepistö to the Panthers for D Jay Bouwmeester and D Ruslan Salei.
I love those kinds of trades, superstar for superstar. I often try these things but I can rarely make it work. :joy:

Doughty is pretty average in my game (3rd pairing D at best) and Jagr is UFA in 7 months

Doughty is still only 'developing' at this time, no? He has 1st-pairing potential - can be anywhere from 150-180. That's still a TERRIBLE trade, though. 3 firsts + Kovalchuk? GM should be taken out back and shot.

That said, I'm in my 6th year as Maple Leafs and just pulled this off at the draft:

Thrashers get:
8th overall + 2nd line potential prospect from three years ago after two years development

Leafs get:
Kovalchuk

Too bad he got his shin fractured 8 games into the season :(

something similar this year:

To Caps:
unproven prospect with good stats but low work rate and determination (5 stars)
Fehr
Talbot

To Leafs:
Ovechkin

almost feels like cheating :(

This is maybe one of my best trades (I have Philadelphia Flyers):
Season 2006-2007:

I give (Philadelphia):
Joffrey Lupul (2-year contract, 2,312,000 p/y. Stats in Flyers: 45 games, 8+15=23, -10, 20 penalty minutes, 7.16 average rating)

Washington give:
Chris Clark (4-year contract, 1,051,000 p/y. Stats in Capitals: 55 games, 21+24=45, +33, 62 penalty minutes, 7.51 average rating)
2nd Round Pick (2007)

I want to see how season ends ! :-D

My most recent trade involved:

To Columbus:
Brendan Bell

To Ottawa:
Raffi Torres

I placed Raffi on my top line to open up some space give the line a little bit of toughness and so far he has 52 points in 36 games...26+26=52.

Brendan Bell has done well in Columbus with 12 points in 23 games, but I'm pretty sure that Raffi has surpased all expectations.
