Ok so my 20-40 game mark is scary good. But the last 5 games I went 3-2. I have no idea how this happened. Not a clue. I just kept playing and the team kept winning.
Well...honestly..I am sitting anyone with naff morale except Hamilton, who for some reason is playing well. I have this luxury cause everyone else is well within the game play rules. Lalime is starting to play well too. 2 shutouts in his last 3 starts, with a hopeless start in between. Wow.
Anyway, my Hawks are flying. I do not know how to slow em down.

Sounds like you are doing great on this challenge as well, batdad. I would do this one myself, but I just don't have the time to join and do it right now.
Too much work and school to worry about and plus, I am working on creating my own dynasty with the Canadiens in my new game that I started a few days ago.
Already picked up 3 Stanley Cups and plenty of player awards.
Anyway, to jump back onto the subject at hand here in this thread. Have you posted your stats so far for this challenge or no? I would love to check them out.

Wow that's one solid record batdad...but 4 PP goals in one game is nothing special
My team for 08-09 is set, I still want get rid of Pothier though to dump salary. Blake doesn't have a spot on the roster so I'll deal him, ideally for draft picks since I'm planning to go all Lowe and throw around some offer sheets next offseason. Khabbi's physical stats are already in decline and Miller/Lundqvist are RFAs
Well, I hope at least one of them will still be come July 09.
Connolly, Niedermayer, Khabbi, Sharp, Handzus...all UFAs 2009... I need to win the cup next season again because it might be the last chance for a while
Cmon Nieds, take a paycut, Chicago is nice

Yikes! Who do you have on his wings?
I just went through a stretch with a whole bunch of injuries. Boucher was out for 11 days and I had to call up Mike Brodeur to play backup (during which time, I started Lalime two night in a row because I didn't trust Brodeur). During that same time, Morrisonn missed 11 days. While those two guys were out, Keith got injured and went out (hasn't come back yet) for an estimated 2 weeks or 10 days. I didn't really have anyone I wanted to call up, so I played with 4 defensemen for about 3 games. Fun stuff!](./images/smilies/wallbash.gif)

I just have Crawford down there. The AHL team signed some scrub to back him up. I had actually left Brodeur on whatever loan he started the game with. Once Boucher came back, I sent Brodeur down to the AHL to help out. His first game in net they win 10-2.batdad wrote:Ew...your minor league goaltending situation is bad. At least I have Tonya.
Next season Price should be signed and starting in goal for Norfolk.
I still need to find somebody to start in net for the Blackhawks next season though.

Yeah but it bothers me as I don't like giving up more than 2.7/8 goals on average on the season. I have 3 scoring lines but neither of them is set to play offensive and I only allow Niedermayer to join the rush regularly, Seabrook and Preissing at times. A bit weird
Yes Dumont has been very good, even playing LW when he's a natural RW. Is a bargain at 2m. Of course he's going to demand way more for an extension. I have him at 3m now.

Bertuzzi? Heh, just locked him to a 4-year deal at $5.25M a season. I got him and Ric Jackman for Karl Stewart, Marty Havlat and Rights to Dan Bertram... I wanted grit and a nasty option to play alongside Chistov and McDonald on the 1st line and so I came to think of Mr. Bertuzzi down in Sunset...Good god you have the bad boy. How did you get him? Why oh why did you get him?
I'm using Archibalduk's NHL Alternate Gameday LogosOh and whose logos are you using? Those are neat.
Yashin will always be Yashinheh, Yashin with a solid 5

Oh boy! I've got a tough decision to make. I haven't been happy with my 2nd line production. I've been switching out Sharp and Arkhipov as the center for that line (the wings on those lines are great). When one of them starts to fade, I swap them out (2nd and 3rd line). Still, they're not getting the job done. So I started making some offers. I can trade Arkhipov since he's not in my core. I've also got Kukkonen and Salmelainen sitting down in the AHL. They're older prospects that I really don't see making my club at any point. I've also got Barker there. I don't really like Barker. He's just too much of a defensive liability. I don't mind trading him if I get a good return. Plus, I've got a few unsigned prospects left that I have no plans for but still have good value. My only untouchable unsigned prospects are Price, Shutron, Clune (to some extent), and Toews. I'm even willing to part with Skille and Sindel.
So I do a search for centers with good passing, skating, and creative skills. I find lots of players I'm interested in and go back and forth quite a bit with teams rejecting my offers. Only a couple look like they MIGHT deal if I give up enough. Finally, I get 3 offers accepted at once. I think I know which way I'm leaning but I'd like to get some feedback and see what you guys think. Here's the offers...
Arkhipov, Salmelainen, rights to Davis and Istomin, and a 4th rounder pick for Stephen Weiss
Arkhipov and Barker for Matthew Lombardi and rights to Aaron Marvin
Arkhipov, Kukkonen, Salmelainen, and the rights to Hjalmarsson & Skille for Henrik Sedin.
Those are the three I'm currently contemplating. I'm leaning towards Sedin because I could throw him on the top line and move Handzus down to the second. That would give me two VERY STRONG scoring lines and a decent 3rd line. Plus, Sedin can play the PK and do well if called upon. But if I go with the Lombardi deal I can put him on the second line, keeping my top line intact. Plus, I'll have Marvin as a nice prospect. The drawback here is that Barker could really be used as valuable trade bait later. Weiss is super fast, a great passer, and great at faceoffs. He'd be a nice offensive threat. I'm not giving much up for him but he's an RFA after the season and I don't know what kind of money he'll be looking for. The Flames already wrapped up Lombardi for 2 more years at $1.34M each. Sedin is making the most, $3.575M, but he's wrapped up for 2 more years as well.
So I'm kind of torn here. I think Sedin is the best option but those other two guys are intriguing.
