Sorry it's taken so long to get you an answer on this, Danny. While I agree that offering huge signing bonuses is a cheap and dirty way of skirting the rules, I don't want to change the rule itself mid-challenge. If someone offered a player a $2M deal with a $150k signing bonus, I don't see a big issue. But if someone offered a $2M deal with a $2M signing bonus, that's playing dirty and everyone will be able to spot it. And I also encourage everyone to call a person out of they see them doing something like that.

Yeah, that's what Danny had pointed out. I guess that's something we overlooked when coming up with the rules. We didn't anticipate people trying to skirt the rules like that. So while it's not an "official rule" yet, if somebody does it, it will be fairly obvious and everyone should mock that person for being a dirt bag.

Peter Budaj was a RFA for my team, but he shows up when I sign him as a free agent, does this count as my free agent signing, because technically I still had the rights to him.

No, if he was one of your RFAs and you signed him, even after his contract expired and he left the team, he doesn't count as a free agent signing. The only free agent signings that count are UFAs. Now if Budaj's contract had expired and you didn't still have the rights to him, then he would count as a UFA signing.

Cool cool. Even though when I post my screen shot it will still say Free Agent though? Do you want "proof" like a screenshot where I show that I have his rights?

I think since it's a player we all have, we know that he's an RFA. If you want to play it safe you can take a screenshot and hold onto it (don't need to post it) in case anyone calls it into question.

As long as he agrees to the contract while you have his rights, it's okay. Just to be safe, take a screen shot of the news item where he agrees to the contract within the proper time period. This way you're covered in case anyone calls it into question. Honestly though... your signing him while you still have his rights. It's just the transfer window that doesn't open until later.

As it´s my first challenge I am a bit confused about the scoring calculation for the challenge. The points for the season and playoffs I understand, but the bonus points especially B (after game 60) is that counted for games 1-60 or 40-60/20-60?

Sorry, I'm not exactly sure about the scoring either. I've played in almost every single challenge and I've never really taken the time to understand it.

how is this going to be dealt with if it happens during a challenge ? It seems to be a database related issue. I mean, what if an RFA is qualified and you lose him regardless, without compensation ? And how do I see which of my players are affected ? I've got Quincey and Budaj becoming RFAs now, they're qualified but refuse to re-sign.

Yeah I was kind of thinking along the same lines. I have a couple I would like to keep (Jones and Wilson) that are being jerks and won't sign...and I mean for anything. Wilson keeps demanding more ice time. Dude, you are averaging 19 minutes per game...what more do you want? 40?

Since the AI NEVER signs another team's UFA...they either play for you or head overseas. Usually, I have found, they will play for me.

If you're worried about the glitch popping up, I guess you could take screenshots as proof and hang on to them in case. Other than that I really can't think of any other way to handle it.

Yeah but the bigger issue is, if I qualify Budaj, but he doesn't sign until July and then turns from RFA to UFA due to this glitch, would he count as an UFA signing by our rule-book ? Because in practice it should probably just count as "re-signing own RFAs", since that's what he would be without this bug.

No, he won't count against your UFA signings if he leaves due to the bug. Like I said, just get a screenshot of you offering him a qualifying offer.

What to do ?
I was playing a challange game, down 4-3,7mins to go in the 3rd period.I paused the game to change some lines,when I restarted the score had changed to 4-1,which i lost.
My previous save is 5 games earlier.Can I go back or just have to suck up the loss ?

That's one of those strange glitches in the game. It happens now and then. Sometimes it happens in your favor. Honestly, it's not such a big deal that you should restart from an older save. Just take the loss and move on.

Solution...Save after each game...and every week in the offseason. Create separate save games for each 20 game segment.

Yup. That's pretty much what I do too, Danny. I save after every game and keep a backup going to my last 20 game segment.

Thanks, I'll take the loss and backup more frequently from now on.

We got a situation. My game has crashed and I can't get passed the 10th of August 2010.
I chose to save two times a month but now when I looked at my saves I saw that the last
save was about 1 year back. So well, there's not much I can do right?
