And the announcement box says "For this Challenge you must be using patch 3.0.4 and the Lidas v2.1 Rosters."

I must have forgotten to change the announcement box but the main challenge announcement on the site news does state that you should be using the special rosters made for this challenge and a link was provided.
I removed Nexer's stats posts.

I brought in Jonas Gustavsson (UFA) as a starter but haven't decided on either JD or Bjurling (RFA) as the backup.
Just got the rankings for the season and Oilers were ranked 3rd, a bit too high if you ask me. Horcoff was chosen as the MVP with no Key Arrival (what about Gustavsson?!).

I'm trying to get Gustavsson as well, but at the moment I'm closer to get Toskala who's my second choice for a goalie. I will see who signs the contract first.

I had both Gustavsson and Toskala on the hook, but I chose Gustavsson as his 1,550,000 hit was in the same tier as Toskala's 735,000.

Gustavsson went to Sharks. I guess he wanted some of that Californian sun.
At least Toskala signed with me.

Jonas was going to sign for me at a cap hit of 800000 at first but two teams started negotiating in the last minute and his price rose...

I went another way. Trading Ales Hemsky (he did a terrible season for me and I want players with high teamwork) to Phoenix for Bryzgalov and Lombardi. That trade have worked out fine for me. I dont know what to do with my UFA-pyramid choise, trying to bring in a defenseman but no success so far

You could always hold off, not sign a UFA, and have the right to claim somebody from waivers.

When did you make trade if you still are able to sign an UFA? Is it just me reading the rules wrong or do you aim for the waiver?

Stupid me, I could have made a trade between 1st-15th July but I read "June"...

You can make trades from 1 July-15 July, then there's a no trade period from 15 July-15 October. And you can sign UFAs from 1 July-31 August.

As a Leaf fan, I just couldn't bring myself to picking up Toskala, even in EHM.
Just finished Season 2. Much better result than the first Season, ended up 6th in the conference. 10th best record in the league. The Northwest Division was really strong, sending 4 teams to the playoffs. Swept the 3rd ranked Red Wings in the first round, but eventually lost to Anaheim in 6 games in the second round.
Looking forward to adding another big piece of the puzzle, now that we think we've solidified the goaltending with Leclaire.

I got fired, a 10th place in in december of my second year wasn't good enough. It's a shame. Had Lombardi, Gagner and Cogliano putting up more than 1 point per game, but my defense sucked. Bryzgalov wasn't solid and my defense had some injurys. Well, well... I'm out for this time. Good luck!

You know you can still play if you were under the budget when fired?

10.0 Getting fired
10.1 If you are fired as GM and you are 5% over (or greater) the budget set by your board, your participation in the Challenge ceases. You may not add yourself again to the game and you may not restart the Challenge.
10.2 If you are fired and you are less than 5% over the budget (or you are any amount under the budget) set by your board, you may re-add yourself as GM. You must provide a screenshot on the day you are fired to prove that you were under budget.

I ended up with both Toskala and Gustavsson. Signed Toskala for 1.6 and traded Gagner and Grebehkov for Lecavalier and Gustavsson.

S2 UFA signing and trade now done...
For UFA I managed to get Martin Biron. He accepted Canucks bid first, but they changed their minds, and he went to me instead.
My trade was a bit boring. I was looking for a defensive center, and aimed for Sutherby. Tried all kind of deals, but we couldnt find a deal I was satisfied with. Turned to the older and more expensive Halpern instead. Due to his pretty high salary (1.903M hit) I needed to dump some salary to get him. Decided to get rid of my most overpaid player...
Staios + Pouliot <=> Tollefsen + Halpern
Not 100% satisfied... maybe I should have aimed for a star player instead.

The Biron signing is solid and love the dumping of Staios. I'd be surprised if most didn't acquire a goalie in the first off-season.

Seriously?! The Challenge has only been running a week. How the heck have you managed to find time to complete five seasons?!!! You're an EHM-playing machine!
How many hours does it take you to complete a season?

This is little of topic. But i try play 1 seson everytime i load the game up. The first drafts and trades was so fun to play. I was free from work this weakend so i played alot then and my girlfirend was sick...
I play my Springfield and Stockton to but i never watch the games just do everything fastest possible with em. Useally i got 3-4 Oilers players in each team wich i nurse alot. I played about 3 sesons this weakend, but i couldnt upload all stats couse i didnt had acces to internet the whole time.
Today i will do game 68-82 ,playoff ,draft, offseson -UFA , plan the trade for next year after i signed my UFA then save game in preson 6 and go to my schoolbooks and have lesser fun.
Decemeber every game year i scout the draft like 1 hour. Only check the players i might end up take in the first 2 rounds , about picks 20-80, as i always have very low picks couse my team is damm good now. Players olutside the first 2 rounds are useally random players or can be easy spottted during the draft using filters and sort em after shooting, hitting, passing to find good regens.

Oh to answer the question. It take me like 8-10 hours to make a full seson in this challange. most time take draft and the damm trade couse we are only allowed to make one so i check all teams several time to get best poosible trade i like.

Its not a bad deal. halpern will help u alot on 3line. I have considered getting him also. When my oilers canced goals its a huge chance its my weak 3 line thats on the ice. Comrie-Stone-Riley Nash. It take huge time get an Defenbsive forward through draft, at least 5 sesons to get him into rooster to play. But surprised u didnt think the old defence was more important to boost up.
