I lost most of mine a long time ago. I lost what was left of my mind back in December. :-p

So back to the challenge...

Does anyone else HATE Hottot? He just can't play anywhere near up to what you'd expect from someone with his attributes. Major disappointment!

Hottot is the most useless piece of dung. At one point I thought I had him going...then the last 5 games he has played (not in a row trust me) 4-5-6-5-4 Ugh. And no penalty minutes in any of them. Two 4 ratings in 5 games. Never seen that on any of my teams before. And if I do have a 4 it is usually for goonery.

And yeah..twin babies will do that to you.

rubbish. My captain and best dman Sullivan has been offered a deal by Stockton now. Ugh.

IT appears Owen Sound withdrew their offer to Andreychuk as it no longer is showing on his info screen. Hmm...good. No news item, and Dave never rejected it that I know of.

I seemed to have totally bombed on my Import Draft selections. I took Adam Pettersson in hopes that the Vancouver Canucks would send him down to us. Instead, they've kept him in Manitoba all season, despite the fact that he's played quite poorly there and would be better suited to playing Junior. My other pick from the Import Draft was Marcus Sorensen. He's spent most of the season on my roster (8 games with the Legionnaires so far) and played 2nd line RW but he hasn't managed to put up many points.

I really need to draft a top notch RW in the upcoming draft. Ritchie is my only RW of any worth. I could probably use another center too. I like Meurs (my trade) but I'm a bit disappointed with Zion. He just don't seem to be improving. Meurs is doing pretty well since coming to our team though. He's averaging a point a game.

Our of the kids I drafted in the OHL Priority Draft, I've got just a few under contract. McAllister (RD/LD) isn't doing so well but I'm liking Germain (goalie) and Richard (RD). Germain has spent most of the season with the Legionnaires. In 23 games with them, he's had 23 wins and a 1.39 GAA with a .950 SV%. He's played 4 games with the Sting and has a record of 1-2. Still, he's only 16 and he did play pretty well despite the losses. The team was without key players during his starts. Richard has 38 points in 28 games for the Legionnaires. He's also a +34. He played 1 game for the Sting and didn't manage any points but he managed 3 hits and 3 blocked shots. I think he'll make the jump to Sarnia next season, unless he comes back sooner due to injuries.

My selections in import:

Petterson...except he was a Laugh. And now is a Marlie.
Granlund--Dallas has not signed still in Sweden, won't come over and cannot until contract expires* Signed his deal the day after I drafted him. Has NHL release. Contract expires in 5 years, so won't see him unless Dallas signs him and I get lucky.

Hottot:

Code: Select all

GP G A P +/- PIM AvR
58 8 7 15 -18 91 5.95
68 16 21 37 +2 95 6.35
50 6 13 19 +11 96 6.50
Not an offensive dynamo by any stretch but his scouting report does suggest that he's a defensive forward and those rarely get good ratings unless they are big/huge in my experience. He played the PK for me in all three seasons and right point on the 2nd PP in his second season. He's out for six more months with a torn ACL so he won't be one of my overagers next season for sure, I doubt that he would have been anyway.

Just got knocked out of the playoffs in the third round of season three after leading the CHL almost the entire season. We were knocked out by London who were the only team to consistently give us problems in the regular season as well.

Campbell will probably be one of my overagers for next season, he only had one regulation loss until the final quarter. I think the others will be Zion and Flemington. Chiarlitti is an option but my first round pick from last season is a small offensive minded LD so I'll screw up my PK pairings if I play them both. The first rounder, Sarault, had 34G 72A in 51GP this season in the GOJHL.

Pending draft additions, offseason improvement and NHL signings I think this will be my lineup for next season (* = rookie, (YY-#) = draft year and round):

G
Campbell
Marttinen(08-I1)

D
Sarault(08-1)*-Noble(08-5)
Flemington-Duchesne(08-10)*
Zupanic*-Paat

F
Francisco-Zion-Ritchie
MacLean(08-2)-Low(08-3)*-Michaud(08-4)
Milligan-Fehr(07-1)-Smyth(07-4)
Slaney(08-9)*-Dutra-Robitaille(08-8)*

Nice results from Hottot! I've tried using him as 3rd line RW and 1st PK unit and still haven't gotten much out of him. I've even given him time on the 2nd line and still no luck.

What is interesting about those results is this. In season 2 Hottot is not playing full time for me. 3rd line and 4th, and occasionally pk or 2nd unit pp. He scored most of his goals in his first 20 games.

41g 11-5-16 113PIM, 6.14 rating. Some would say that was okay numbers but that rating is brutal, and he has several 4s like I said. Enough of him. He ain't playing.

I released Hottot after my first season. I know he was picked up by someone but even for them he didn't play very well.

And I'm on the sidelines for a while my laptop is pooched. Rather my adapter is. The cord for the adapter has torn away from the block, and my battery doesn't hold a charge. So until I get my replacment adapter and batteries I will not be playing anymore games.

Frack. Rogalski - my best defenseman by FAR - got signed away by the Oilers right before the 2nd game of my OHL cup final in Season Three. :help:

The Colts are up 3-2 in that series and I'm at the draft right now...not a bad first couple rounds - I've already got two players who will definitely be on the team next year.

EDIT: Just pulled out the win on the OHL Cup. 6-4 in game six and 7-5 in game seven. Bring on the Memorial Cup!

Well, after a long hiatus, I am excited to start playing EHM again! I started a new job in 2008 and became addicted to Mafia Wars from 2009 until about 2-3 weeks ago. I'm happy to say that I'm clean, sober, and free of the endless Facebook clicking!

;)

My first challenges were with EHM 2005: Carolina Hurricanes and Montreal Canadiens. We all learned so much about the game, and hockey in general. I hope some of the new people read this post because I just wanted to let them know to not get discouraged if they don't do well right away.

I have spent hours looking through old challenge threads and all of the game knowledge threads, and there is some pretty insightful stuff (about both EHM and the game of hockey) if you take the time to find/read it.

Thanks to all of the long time TBL members on this site, you really make an 'old' game fun!

I've never played a long time game with any CHL team, so this is pretty cool. I'll post some information about my first season soon. Wish me luck!

First set of games for season four completed and my newly added LD from the previous draft is doing pretty well, 10G 8A in 21 games in his rookie year is a good start.

Apart from him my top six forwards are spreading the scoring around nicely so far:
Francisco 11G 12A, Zion 6G 20A, Ritchie 12G 12A
MacLean 8G 10A, Low 6G 15A, Michaud 13G 12A

Bottom six looks a bit different from anticipated due to draft additions:
Milligan-McKay-Smyth
Slaney-Fehr-Leach

Campbell once again has no regulation loss, or overtime loss for that matter, so far. All three losses have gone to Marttinen who is still having a better season than last so far with 2.64GAA and 0.903SV%, Campbell is sitting at 1.79GAA and 0.929SV%.

I need you to hook me up with Chop Shop parts or Weapons Depot parts. Or maybe some Mystery Bags?

Man... how can you quit Mafia Wars?

Glad to see you back in the fold! This Sarnia challenge is definitely interesting. It's a totally different kind of challenge than what we're used to. Just be sure to read the rules carefully. The rules have changed quite a bit since your last challenge (I'm guessing you haven't participated in the last few at least).

Nice rankings B - I've never had anyone out of the 100's yet.

Really? Even for Ritchie? I thought he was a sure fire 1st round pick?

I think I've hurt Campbell's ranking because I've sent him to the Legionnaires. Germain (a goalie I drafted in the 4th round of the OHL draft) stole his spot on the roster.

Ritchie fell to the 3rd round...#87 overall. But he was ranked way lower - #143 or something. The Caps took him and then traded him with a 2nd to the Flames for Rene Bourque.

That's very surprising. I'm guessing his PA is random and you just got the bad draw on him.

I think I got a really naff one too. Shayne Campbell is ranked 77th, Rogalski is at 114th and Ritchie is at 144th.

Campbell went 99th overall (4th Round) to Minny. They just recently traded his rights to PHX for Bodker.

Rogalski was drafted in the 3rd round at #66 by the Oilers. They recently signed him and have him playing the ECHL...where he is sucking...

I also just had Chiarlitti signed by Florida. He was 20 and did not get drafted. One day about 20 games into Season 4, I got a news item that said he was interested in playing for Florida. The next day they offered him a contract that he accepted. Goes into effect in July after this season is over.

The player I drafted with my first pick in Season 2, Michael Clark - RD, got drafted by the Rags in the 4th round. He's the only 'home grown' to get ranked and picked so far. But I'm expecting a few to go this year...

Chiarlitti didn't get drafted? He was a 3rd round pick (77th overall) in my game. The Islanders drafted him and so far, they haven't signed him. <knock on wood>

Nope - not drafted. As I mentioned, he signed with FLA on a deal that will kick in after Season 4.

Just goes to show how much players can differ game to game. It could also be that my training sucks. :-p

Let's just blame it on the randomization. :-p

I just had a great road game against Belleville. We won 8-2 and it featured two brawls. One was an all-out line brawl, including the goalies sqauring off at centre ice!
