I second Manimal on that. I heard that cocaine is actually growning bigger and bigger amongst the players. Dunno if it's really reliable information or not but I wouldn't be surprised.

I am unsure if the coke problem among players is any bigger than it was in the past. In the past the players were not tested, now they are, and the league is seeing more results. What I find interesting is cocaine is not on the banned list.

Now...there is absolutely no evidence that Kassian was using or has ever used coke. But the info came out in a report yesterday from League VP Bill Daly...that they believe use is up among players. BUt that was his opinion only from the sets of testing done last few years, not what was going on in the 80s.

The couple players that were caught with drugs in the past years mostly had cocaine IIRC right? Williams and who was it in Tampa, Malone?

Wasn't there a Toronto player that went back home (can't remember if he was Eastern European or Scandinavian) and said something about all of the drug use in the NHL? He had done an interview and said something to the effect of drug use was running rampant in the NHL and it had surprised him. I remember seeing something about this in the past month or so.

Yeah it has been coke and pain killers. Stoll, Malone coke (and molly for Stoll) and Richards with oxy.

I do not recall the article you are referring to B72, but it is possible.

But the idea that there is an increase in numbers based on percentage of players using....I dunno...seems like the old...Well there are more rapes and things now. No...not on percentage there are not...just everything gets publicized. The streets were no safer in the 70s than they are now....just a bigger population in the world.

Yeah, I'm betting there was a whole lot more coke use in the the NHL in the 80's.

So I just googled and found a link for the story. It might not be the same site I originally read it at but it's about the same guy. Viktor Loov. The article is from late September of this year.

Yeah now I recall that article. I laughed. Tons of guys, but I have never seen my teammates use it. So...Mr Loov? You were hanging out after the game with the opposition who was doing the drugs? But your teammates were not there? Where were they? On the bus to the next game?

Anyway, I giggled at that one article because through translation it lost something in regards to how he knows this happens, and any evidence...but it is definitely in use in the league, just as it is in life.

And former player Sean Avery was arrested with pills. Apparently he was also throwing stuff at vehicles :dunno:

Yay for Sean! What made me laugh...today of all days...the HHoF puts out a tweet about an exhibition of Grant Fuhr equipment. Wonder if his pocket mirror and extra long pinky finger nail were included.

Seems like the victim in Kane's case has stopped cooperating with the police because it's too stressful! :-k

Case close for Kane. He's not going to be accused because of the lack of evidence. =D>

Hopefully he really is innocent, still think the NHL and Hawks handled this terribly, they should have suspended him as soon as he was accused of rape. Rape is just too serious of a crime to ignore.

Guilty or innocent, Kane need to smarten up and make better choices off the ice. He's old enough to know better by now. If he's really innocent, he shouldn't be putting himself in situations where he can get into trouble.

Yep. No matter what Kane has to watch what he does off the ice ALOT better than what he has in the past.

This happened in the Milton Keynes v Bracknell game last weekend (Scott Spearing in the black jersey and Frantisek Bakrlik in the white jersey): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQxxnLigYcg

I can't find the link now, but it even made the TSN website. Pretty shameful stuff. It's not the first time these two players have had a run in. Spearing's post on Instagram is fairly unpleasant too:

Looked to me like the guy did a knee on knee type hit (i.e. made a dangerous/dirty play) and then just watched the opponent come at him (I'm not condoning crazy behavior like charging at/tackling guys!)

I didn't find a reliable source anywhere else on the internet but if it's true...oh boy.

"Jiri Hudler allegedly demanded cocaine on a Delta Airlines from New York to Prague according to Swedish tabloid Expressen and Czech tabloid Blesk.
According to the fight attendant, when his request was refused, Hudler threatened to call his friends upon landing and get them to kill the flight attendant. He then went to the bathroom, came back with white powder on his lips and tried to urinate on a food cart."
