Yeah, solid trade on their part! Not sure what the Blues were thinking...
On the other hand, I don't know what the fuzz is all about with Beleskey. Other than the term, the contract seems pretty fair, and they can freely move him out after the 2nd year.
I'm pretty happy that we managed to acquire Green on 3 year deal..great term...don't care about the salary with such deal.
Meanwhile, Kings acquire an <snip> forward in the face of Milan <snip> Lucic. Gratz! I won't be cheering for them any time soon, with Brown, Lucic and Voynov on the roster..

Fuzz is that he's a 3rd liner that got almost $4m for 5 years after a career year where he had 20+12 with an unsustainable shooting %... Atleast that's my fuzz about him

Well... it's been reported that several teams were expressing interest in him it's only normal that will drive his price up a bit.
3.8m for someone who scored 20g and plays a hard-nosed game is hardly world-shattering. He was an UFA afterall, they don't come cheaply.
I agree, the term is quite long for my liking too, I would to stay away from him for anything over 2 years (Mayyyybe 3 yrs max) but the money, even though on the high side, it's nothing no write home about.

I agree that the cap hit isn't outrageous, it's just high, the term however is really bad for a guy like him...

O'Reilly signed for 7 years in Buffalo. Don't know for how much yet.
Saad signed for 6 years, 6M$ per year with the Jackets. No surprises there.
Blues signed Allen for 2 years.

$7.5M AAV for ROR, both buyout and escrow proof...

Whoa. Buffalo will regret that when they will need to sign their younger prospects in the future.....Good thing the Avs let him go if he was asking for 7.5.

I think it's an OK deal, can't see it being a problem going forward tbh, unless his point production goes down towards 0.5 PPG but i doubt that.

Oh yeah I forgot they won't have to paid Lehner alot since he will not accomplish anything.

I kid, I kid but seriously with Eichel, ROR, Kane (if he does good enough), Lehner (maybe), Ennis (most likely the one I would see go in the futur), Girgensons who could have a good potential too, Bogosian and Ristolainen how all have a decent to good potential they will have to managed their cap well enough. There might be prospects that are not with the team that I don't think about too.

Yeah, ofcourse they won't be able to keep everyone for 10 years, but no team can do that... Thing is ROR will be part of their core unless he goes full Mike RIchards and deteriorate for some reason, if they have to sacrifice Ennis or Bogosian down the line that means they are doing really well probably

ROR should be thanking Jay Feaster for his new deal. If it weren't for Feaster's offer sheet, ROR wouldn't be getting that kind of money right now

Don't laugh at ROR's 7 year contract. We'll see were the Sabres are after 6 years and what he's done for the team... yet to see.
Like Saad that signed a 6-year contract with the Jackets.

I think Saads contract is worse then RORs, a Selke level two-way C is just that much more important then a scoring winger IMO.

Saad as alot of potential too so we'll see. If he puts up between 60-70 pts each seasons, 6 millions is now the average for that kind of production in the NHL now. If a two way foward can get 7.5 now, not surprised someone with 50 pts can get 6M$.

Well, ROR is a two-way forward AND has 50+ points for the last few seasons

I don't think either contract is bad mind you... RORs contract might be really bad for Rangers though since Stepans agent might use it in his contract negotiations

Guess who goes in arbitration?

Holtby, Nyquist, Johansson and Del Zotto are among the other guys.

Just because they file for arbitration doesn't mean they will get there, it's unsurance though in case they can't come to an agreement. Hope Gorton can make a long term deal happen, Stepan is too important to the team.
Edit: Atleast he can't get an offer sheet now, not that i thought he would get one but still

Interesting article (IMO) on this year's free agency/RFAs and the trend in contracts/GM cap management

Indeed a good deal for the Blues. Such a great player. On another note I went to Flames dev camp today and got to see the prospects. Lots of fun and got a pic with Sam Bennett

It was fun. I have to say he was also really nice and accommodating to all the kids and adults who wanted autographs and pics. Signed every last one of them before getting interviewed by local media. He totally made my kid's day (and mine as well).

Good article but "death of bridge contracts" is too strong. What is Kuznetsov's contract, then?
