Thus, girls and boys! Just a few hours, then across Canada will be in the valley of tears! The hockey superpower Germany is sweeping Canada from the stadium. :guns:

"A beautiful dream" :joker:

CĂryatan. I know what you mean, England hasn't shown any of the games this tournament. If you want to watch the hockey. Check out: http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/olympics/

Go to "EBU Channels Live" down the left hand side and select one of the 6 that are live at the moment. There's no commentary, but it's a good site to know. Finland vs Belarus is currently live on channel 2. :-D
Doesn't www.ctvolympics.ca work just as well?

Batdad,

You're totally right. They need to clean up Hockey Canada and really push for the kids to be able to excel and succeed from when they are children all the way through until they are professionals.

I just disagree with those who have felt that just being Canada is reason enough to win the whole thing. I understand and agree with wanting to win it all, and agree with you that we did the right thing in pushing for it (Own the Podium). In part, it's the jingoistic(sp?) belief that just being Canadian is good enough that may be attributing to the problems that you listed off.

But I am cutting into time spent watching Canada vs Germany, so I leave this wondering if we'd be better off with a steady national team like of old, despite the preferences and popularity of an NHL provided tournament.

Go Canada Go!

Unfortunate, because Germany is my number two and I was really hoping for them to exceed expectations. But of course, that can't happen at Canada's expense.

I believe Uwe Krupp made a statement about player development in Germany being flawed, because 10 spots per team in the DEL are alloted to imports.

Czechs won Latvia 3-2 at overtime. Nice play for Latvia, it was sad that they lose :-( . That seems to be last surprise in Olympic hockey. :dunno:

CTV Olympics site does not have the stats complete. Time on Ice, all kinds of things not there. That is why the IIHF site is better.

As for Green--Just saying he should be on the team instead of moron Pronger. Not saying he should be on the team, and not saying he would necessarily help the team. Just Pronger is a dinosaur. A moron dinosaur. And once again he is proving it. Trust me I hope to god he plays well.

And to go off topic for a sec...anyone else find it funny that someone thinks a pinky-purple avatar of a Ranger logo with Hello Kitty rubbish on it makes that person a Ranger fan? Wow...

I forgot..Tollefson should be shot, or at least drawn and quartered. What a cheap shot.

Anybody knows Bartecko's situation?

Tollefsen's hit was totally surprise. He isn't kind of player who make these kind of dirty tricks. :check: :penalty:

Hopefully Bartecko's career isn't over and he can play. :-({|=

Grade 3 concussion. Out for tournament from what I am hearing. It is funny (not really) but Michael Peca was on the radio and said the same thing about Tollefsen. Yet...I recall hearing lots about stuff he has done in the past, when he was with the Blue Jackets, and Peca was his teammate.

You guys know the phrase "It's Miller time" from the beer commercials?

We could be 30 minutes (I am including OT, because the Swiss won't score) away from changing one letter of that phrase. Oh and 0.1 seconds. And it was NOT a goal. NOT. CTV up here was able to enhance the image and it was clear that the puck had not clearly crossed the red line completely.

Wow! This is exciting. Too bad most Americans won't see this game.

That was a clear goal!!!! It was across the line even before hiller's glove blcked the view. You can also assume that it crossed the line since it ended up in the back of the ent anywwazy. However Jonas Hiller shouldnt have batted the puck. Almost cost his team a goal.

DJP...Clearly not watching the Host Broadcaster feed. Ferraro and Loubardias both thought it was a goal at first. EVERYONE did. Including me. Then when they blow it up and zoom in...it is not. Puck never got across the line. Anyway, it did not come into play as that Swiss guy hit both posts. Man the Swiss sure put up a game effort defensively though. And yes of course it crossed the line...but after the clock hit 0.0 seconds. At 0.1 it was still hovering on the line. So close, yet not quite. Again...in the end did not matter though.

And Eric Johnson...wow! Huge defensive plays. 2 monster shot blocks at least (that would have been dang close to goals) and that amazing slide across pass block on the 3 on 1 the Swiss had.

EJ and Hiller...outstanding. No western conference team should want to play the Ducks in the playoffs. That guy could easily steal a series
