At the risk of jinxing myself, I am actually working on a 1994/95 patch myself. It's actually something I've been poking at for years, even since the freeware version, but since I was never fully satisfied with the infrastructure of previous games it didn't really pick up speed until this new version. There's no ETA (probably within a year), it only sits on a few thousand players at the moment (I expect v1.0 to release with between 3000-4000 players) and certainly won't be released until after the new version of the editor has been released, but at the very least, a patch of a sort is coming. Eventually...

I'm glad you posted, as I've got multiple databases started/I'm working on myself, including a 1994 database...with someone else working on a 1994 database I'll focus on the others I've got going
FYI - thanks to Manimal's work a couple/few years ago I've got a 1994 database with the teams/affiliations all set up, if you're interested send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you
For "future players" you could use those in the 1998 database as a starting point (and I've got a staff_new file for all "future players" from 1974-1998 so the 1994-1998 period could be covered too) if you haven't already got it covered
Also, I've got Guides (with Staff lists, Team/League records, Arena information, etc) for almost every North American League for 1994-95.....when you're closer to a release I could likely help by providing this information if you'd like

[A folder has been included within the editable version of 1.1 that includes the two files needed to correct Competition/Awards History and version v0.4.1xp4 of the Updater so those that might want to edit the database and then correct the Competition/Awards History can do so. IMPORTANT - the first step in the process is to use the current Updater to delete the Competition/Awards History & then use the older Updater and two files to input the Competition/Awards History.]
Basically what I wanna do is take CBS, MIN, and ATL aka Winnipeg jets since jets are in the database nto Atlanta and put Thrashers wild and jackets expansion team on their rosters but if i am just moving players around do i still have to do this proccess above or no?

You don't "have to" but if you don't you will have Competition/Awards History "from the future" when you start in 1998 (you will have the Competition/Awards History from the 2006 database)
Also, by trying to put together expansion team rosters from the future you'll be taking players from the teams they were with IRL in 1998 (not really a problem if you're OK with it) & I'm not sure how it'll work with the expansion team's draftees, as all will be underage for the NHL when you start the game (likely will be a problem)

A few questions about prospects, i have simmed 3 separate seasons up to around 2009-2010 and i have noticed a couple things. Patrick Stefan is always a bust (he was IRL so it does make sense) but in all 3 seasons Henrik Sedin ended being a 20-30 point a year player. Daniel sits around the 30-50 mark. Another thing i noticed was in the 2004 draft over the 3 simulations my top 5 draft rankings have been #1 Keith Yandle, #2 Tyler Bozak(Lol?), #3 Alexander Ovechkin, #4 Evgeni Malkin, #5 Mike Green.. In all 3 sims Yandle and Bozak are #1 and 2.. Ovi and Malkin switched places 1 year and Green was only top 5 twice. Why are Yandle and Bozak rated so high? there good players, but there not even close to Malkin and Ovi.. one more thing, ive noticed a few players that are being drafted in the wrong years, Niklas Kronwall for example gets picked in 1999 but IRL was selected 20th overall in 2000, maybe the age rules were different then? if so i understand why it cant be fixed.

We can't do anything about how they "develop" in their youths per se. For example in the 2004 draft I have made Ovi and Malkin way better from the start than the rest of the prospects that year + the best variable potential ability for them. There's nothing more I can do for them.

All prospects have variable potential ability. But the better they were IRL the better variable PA they have been given.
P.Stefan doesn't have to be a bust, but he's most likely gonna be.
If I can count correctly it seems like Kronwall and Heatly both were draft eligible in 1999?!

But IRL were drafted 2000. Someone know's more about this?

I actually think you should have Stefan at -15 PA, he was drafted #1 for a reason, he had the potential. The fact that he didn't fulfill it doesn't mean it wasn't there. In a DB like this i think the variables on PA should be as big as possible on most players to keep the DB from being stale if you know what i mean. That's just my thoughts

Maybe. But having players become superstars that weren't (-15 gives the potential to be as good as Gretzky/Crosby/Ovechkin/etc), and having players who were very good and/or superstars not be (because a variable PA as big as possible means some wouldn't be) IMO makes the database lose a bit of it's "historical" feel
The database is editable, so people can make such adjustments themselves if they want to

I guess, part of the allure of a historical DB to me is that history can change. Still think the variables should be higher for someone like Stefan then someone like Malkin, but there should IMO be a possibility that Stefan becomes the better player.

You're welcome to do that yourself with the historical database you create
In all seriousness, you can do such editing yourself if you want; to me part of a historical database is that it's historical, which means dramatic differences like you're suggesting don't really happen (but again, if one wanted to have such variableness they could with a minimum amount of effort)
P.S. I took a quick look at the 1999 draft, and wow that was a weak draft year! IMO being #1 overall in a weak draft doesn't make one comparable to true superstars

Yeah i know
And oh yeah, 1999 was a super weak draft overall.

HaHa I bet you do CJ!

I just checked, Stefan's PA is -15
Peter, there's a lot more to editing than just PA, that's how CJ could say "P.Stefan doesn't have to be a bust, but he's most likely gonna be"

I rarely used -15, usually -14 for draft busts; to give them a small chance to succeed. I didn't want 100% of the players end up almost exactly like they did IRL. More like 99% to keep things interesting.

Oh, then nevermind
nino - I know, but the fact the he almost always is a bust i figured he was at -14, my bad

So i want to put Atlanta, cbs, nashville, minny all expansion draft results into the 1998-1999 database 1.1 verison and want to create aka replace one of the NHL teams with a expansion team... but im confused with what has to be edited or even if it does if i am just editing rosters and removing 1 team and adding another from scratch?

Sounds right to me; as mentioned previously, I'm not sure how it'll work with the expansion team's initial NHL draftees, as all will be underage for the NHL when you start the game (likely will be a problem); when you remove the team typically it's been best to make them defunct, don't delete them/overwrite them

I noticed that Winnipeg jets are in Southeast will they stay in the game or will they move to Arizona later on in the file?

Things won't change from what they are at startup

IIRC the way that's currently available to do such editing (by the Updater I think) causes/creates a bug, and that's why such records haven't been updated in modern databases in recent years
IIRC this older tool created by Archi years ago might let you
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvTHo4MBaphkc2cJkyaacSPdAtQ
There's no instructions for use...essentially (IIRC) you export some data files using the tool, edit the club_records file (one of the data files the tool exports), and then import the club_records file using the tool; it's not done with player "names" but rather Staff ID Numbers and/or First and Last Name ID Numbers (the First and Last Name method is for use when the player that holds the record is not actually in the database)
