Yeah, we'll probably make this one go through February. I don't want to go too long just in case there isn't big interest in this one.
We did the Devils not too long ago (2015) and I don't think their prospect pool and roster has changed enough to make it that much different.

Get rid of Giroux in Philadelphia, and you have a challenge, or Tavares in Isles.

Or Karlsson in Ottawa?

where is the fun of playin Ottawa without Karlsso?!
No Giroux Philly could be fun though. Is Ghost upside much higher in this DB?
What about Smashville?

I've taken over 5 teams, set the roster selection and went on vacation with orders for no trades to be made. I'll let them run and take a look at how they do.

Okay, so I simmed a season with 5 potential challenge teams on vacation. Right away, it appears that the Sabres are too good. They finished 5th in the East.
The Islanders finished 15th (2nd to last) in the East with 70 points. They didn't have any long-term injuries, just little bits here and there. Nobody missed more than a dozen games. Their leading scorer was Tavares with 55 points. Their only Plus player was De Haan with a +1.
The worst team in the East turned out to be the Hurricanes. Their only trade was Nestrasil for Jaskins and some latter round picks. Victor Rask was out for 5 months. That was their only significant injury.
In the West the 3 teams I was looking at finished as the bottom 3. The Predators was the best of them with 79 points, just 9 points out of the playoffs. They did not have any significant injuries. Johansen was their leading scorer with 76 points. He also lead them in +/-. Johansen had a +12. The only other Plus player on the team was Forsberg with a +5.
The next worst in the West was the Avalanche with 75 points. They seemed to have been doing pretty well earlier in the season, running at about .500 or just a little above. Varlamov missed a couple weeks but that's not too bad. Iginla missed a total of 6 weeks due to 2 different hip flexor strains. They also lost Beauchemin for about half the season. MacKinnon lead the team with 71 points followed closely by Duchene with 67. Duchene lead the team in +/- with a +27! The Avs actually had 6 regular players with a plus rating.
The worst in the West and also worst in the league was the Coyotes. Ekman-Larsson missed a few weeks with injuries but nothing significant. Bolland never played due to surgery. McGinn played all but the last game of the season and went out for 3 weeks with an injury at that point. Max Domi lead the team in scoring with 64 points. He was also the Coyotes only plus player with +5.
To me it looks like our best bet might be the Coyotes.

Sounds good!
How about the rules? Limit number of trades per season?
I would like to have no more than 3 trades, when there are incoming players involved (draft picks could be included) and one additional trade possible for incoming draft picks only. Previous limitations like contracted players only could be involved, no first round picks involved in a trade, max. number of assets from each side, only picks for upcoming draft could be involved etc. - I would suggest to keep in place. So altogether 4 trades per season maximum.

I could have told you that.

I simmed 20 seasons I think after I finished the rosters.

Yes I made him a lot better.

Yotes? Could definitely be fun
Hey CJ, is Duclairs pass tendency at 20?

Love the kid, so talented, but for some reason he doesn't shoot the puck even when he has such a ridiculous wrister.

Any word on the next new challenge?
Can we have a hint?

We'll most likely just go with one of the weaker teams in the recent release of the DB.

I got 9.1 roosters with 1.41 engine.
Simmed on holiday to spring 2017 and took over last team.
The last team was canucks.
Traded away the old players for some youth and had a blast with challange rule set for C44.
I know we had canucks not long ago, but i had a blast back then to.
with 9.1 and 1.4.1 it seems game is overloaded with offensive defensemen so maybe make some competition for a defensive stat for a defender in challange c45?

I think we are awaiting the new dB before we start up another challenge.

It makes sense to wait for the new DB but to be honest the delay has just been me. I haven't felt motivated and really haven't been on the computer much.

With the new database out i'm very excited for the new challenge, started to get motivated B72? Any thoughts?

I like the thought of playing in one of the lower NA leagues now that we have more of them, AHL/CHL/NCAA/USHL would all be fun.

I'm not sure how playable USHL still is. For instance, I don't know if you actually can do the USHL draft in-game, and there have been issues getting feeders for the USHL once you get a couple seasons in. Also, I don't think the US NTDP works in-game the way it is supposed to in real life. That's stuff I've noticed playing in NCAA, I don't know if anyone has actually played in USHL yet though and can comment further.
NCAA works pretty well, but at first blush it seems perhaps too easy if you're aggressive combing through the USHL, NAHL, high school, and lower Canadian junior leagues. You can kind of snap up all the good recruits rather quickly. And if you do, you can do a very, very quick turnaround of a team from one year to the next. There'd have to be some sort of artificial limit put in place, in terms of the # or kind of guys you can recruit (maybe not allow guys to be signed from the US NTDP, which is a major source?).

Maybe we can try to do the Red Wings but are limited to drafting Swedes/Russians?

Any chance this is starting back up soonish? I've been checking in an embarrassingly high number of times, figured I'd actually ask this go-around haha.
